I want other people to review mah mixtape too :nice: that would be neato

So, apologize for a delay,

Here is my review:

1. The pretty frisky began, a song is built around a amazing guitar riff, reminds me the first Radiohead album a lot :guitarist:

2. good mix of soul, ambient and alternative. Extreme ending was incredible! ::thumbsup::

3. It is just diamond! Obviously it is BAT FOR LASHES!!! I was lucky to hear them before Coldplay gig in Nijmegen:awesome: Vocal, performance, music, feelings – all is simply incredibly here! Seems their last video was shooting on this song. anyway thank you so much for this song, my mysterious mixtape maker!:pleased:

4. Beautiful, sad ballad about the tricks of fate. I’m really like lyrics and it seems that vocalist indeed very experiences about what he sings:thinking:

5. Song is full of wonderful sounds, which I even can not identify:stunned: But a singer is almost whispers here, so that I’ve hardly not fell asleep:sleeping::lol:

6. this one has reminded me Louis Armstrong “What A Beautiful World”. Such a great hymn to life and freedom!

7. Sounds like choral performance of somekind of legendary country hit. Pretty amusing!:guitarist:

8. I hear very simple upright piano on the background, good rhythm, but it is not my style of music honestly. Although I listened to this song for a whole hour without rest.. seems that its Craig David

9. Quiet male voice sings about love and parting, to be honest I’ve almost began to cry... it reminds me of last girlfriend. And I love the basic guitar riff here :shy:

10. Such an impression, that I made voyage somewhere in wonderland, super relaxing song:rolleyes2:

11. another relaxing track. my mixtape maker is a girl, it is obvious;) Well, it is a beautiful song about love, «honey, I will meet you”, if we’ll take only lyrics, it is very familiar to Coldplay Moses. And voice… mmm…. Maybe its Joss Stone?

12. probably this Norah Jones songs?! I liked rhythm and quiet flow of this song

13. And ending :awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome: I really love this one, so simple, easy and unpretentious. I didn’t get in who is sings, maybe it was Pixies.. but it seems something from 90th. I’m quiet intrigued...:whatever: One of the songs, in the style “I’m fine. I don’t care. Life is wonderful!”:escaping3:

So, mainly my mixtape is self-possessed in very quiet and relaxing style, music does not strain and helps to calm down. The best tracks are #2, #3, #10 and #13. Very recommend to listen. Thank you to my mixtape maker for excellent work, she/he (she!) seems to me spent a lot of time to choose these songs. And she certainly has a wonderful musical taste!

and one more thing

i'm looking forward tracklisting with impatience!

Ahaha, so...I kind of forgot about this. Sorry!

It seems that the maker of my mixtape didn't get the memo about deleting the song info? But that's ok. I don't know a lot of this stuff anyway. :D

So, onward with the review!

Track 1: Great way to start! Catchy and nice and upbeat. I'm not familiar with this band but this definitely sounds like something I would listen to.

Track 2: I love the instrumental intro. I'm a sucker for strings. :awesome: It has a very calming and chill feel to it overall, plus bongos, a tropical-ish beat, and great back-up vocals.

Track 3: Oh heeey I know this song. I think it was in a car commerical? I really really like it though. This band kind of sounds like The Strokes a bit. Love the syncopated rhythms. I could dance to this.

Track 4: Bright Eyes!! I LOVE this song. Lots of acoustic guitar and sort of a country/folk feel. I like how it picks up toward the end. Their whole album is brilliant really.

Track 5: "Hey you little sexy pig, you've made it with a man, and now you've got a little kid with hooves instead of hands." Bahaha. I'm not sure if this song is supposed to make me laugh, but I find it pretty funny. Mainly it's the random animal lyrics but also his manner of singing. Sounds like a nursery rhyme!

Track 6: More strings yay! :nice: I've been meaning to check out this band. I really really like this so I'll have to listen to some of their other music.

Track 7: Ooooh echoey guitars. Another mellow, calming song...that seems to be your taste? I like it. :D

Track 8: Hmm this is kinda different... I can't really figure it out but I like it. OH I HEAR HORNS! And chanting! Ok this is officially a really cool song. I'm not sure if it sounds more like ragtime, or country, or folk, or whatever, but it's cool. It makes me picture a bunch of people in a bar somewhere in the South square-dancing or something, haha.

Track 9: Simon and Garfunkel...their music always manages to give me chills. I really like this. Again with the strings. :D I love the build-up and tension that leads to a climax right before the end.

Track 10: Ok I see now, the previous track leads into this one, and this is super short so not much to say, but it brings the other song to a needed conclusion.

Track 11: And now for something completely different...haha. Kind of techno-ish with a heavy beat and lots of screechy guitars. Almost sounds like Imogen Heap a little? Not really though.

Track 12: Ahh here's another band I've been wanting to check out! Another mellow acousticy song but this one's thicker with vocal parts and atmospherics. Rather eerie sounding...I like it.

Track 13: I like the exchange between the male and female singer. Their voices sound nice together. This song has kind of a foreboding, ominous feel to it

Track 14: Very upbeat and happy! I like it. This has the potential to get stuck in my head. :D

Overall: Great job! You have really good taste! :) You've made me want to start listening to a few of these bands...so, success! :D I love the mellow mood of this mixtape. It's very soothing, which is a high priority for the music I listen to. Thanks so much! :nice:

To my patient mixtape maker... I've been away all week with no internet access and am not able to download my mix til tomorrow. I'll do the best I can to have my mix downloaded, listened to, and reviewed by Monday. I'm sorry for the delay!!

I want other people to review mah mixtape too :nice: that would be neato

Yes, download mine whilst your at it too. Just check mah siggy :D

So, I came back from my travel and the best way to listen to a mixtape is while in the train :D Im very grateful for my mystery partner because there was some gems in my mix! Will post my review tonite ^^

The part about train travel is so true.

^ I'll check yours out tomorrow, methinks.

re-typing my review 'cause my computer is screwing with me.. Then i'm gonna post my tracklist because I got reviewed too, stay tuned!

First of all, a huge thank you to my mixtaper because overall I really loved it ! Plus my mix was long (20 songs), so it was like Xmas time ahah ! I really appreciated the effort because I only knew two songs in the entire mix so I'm really looking forward to discover the other bands in here! My mixtape was called Mayasong, I found it cute ! Sorry in advance for my lack of musical vocabulary. I know how to feel the music, not how to describe it :/

Here it is:

Track 1: The mix starts really good !! Pop/rock track, I'm not familiar with this band, but I would like to know more! It's fresh and catchy.

Track 2: WOW. I can definitely relate to the lyrics in this song. Post rock tune I would say. Reminds me of The Police but younger. "you are reaching that is beating, I cant believe I never noticed my heart before". I LOVE it !!

Track 3: Starts with acoustic guitar, male voice, then electric guitar, a little bit mellow, me likey.

Track 4: Female vocalist, very melodic, feels like a mix between Regina Spektor and Alanis Morrisette, really interesting !

Track 5: Rock-ish track with some piano, the singer has a rasping voice, nice.

Track 6: Sean Lennon - Dead Meat. I cant thank you enough for that, I lost my mp3 version of this song, So I'm glad to have it back !

Track 7: Violin (or Cello?) in this song makes me shiver. It's very moving. (but im not that attracted by the singer's voice).

Track 8: GREAT surprise !! As much as my heart belongs to Coldplay (and Brit pop), I'm a RnB lover. Very very pleased to find Jennifer Lopez in my mix !! Not sure about the title though. The spanish guitar here is so melancholic, it's one of her most 'rock' song. I've always been a fan of her (at least her old albums). Im interested to know in what album is this song. Probably her spanish album, which includes Que Hiciste, right ?

Track 9: pop/folk song, sweet melody.

Track 10: suprising tribal intro ! (and I like surprises!) Ohohoh it has an Oasis taste, but not as rock as them (which is pleasant too!!). Really loving this song, very different from your average song. The guitar line made me think of Joan Osborn - One Of Us.

Track 11: the intro ring a bell... So does the singer's voice. Maybe Seether ? Not sure at all. Soft rock tune, good song.

Track 12: AHAHAHAH hearing the very first notes I thought it was a song from the french musical Cleopatre (the music video is always on tv, my french peeps, you know what Im talking about!). Apart from that, I like the song and its 'electro' vibe.

Track 13: "un, deux, trois, quatre", mhhh french band... Mhhh this voice, this must be Phoenix! That's a shame 'cause I'm french but I never took the time to listen properly to their albums. Though I know that they are obviously talented. Thank you for this wake up call, Im gonna do my homework now I promise ahah! This song is not one that I know of, so great choice! (on which album is this track ?)

Track 14: pop-rock track, wait ohhh I know this one too ! Benjamin Biolay - Los Angeles. He's a french singer, I'm not the "french music type", but I must admit, he's one of a few I'd be happy to listen to. I have 2 or 3 of his songs on my ipod, but not this one, so again, great choice. (same question, I want to know which album ahah)

Track 15: LOVE the instrumental ! Totally sound like Coldplay !! But waiiiiiiit! Is this german ? I must say I would have prefer english lyrics there (no offense). Very curious about this singer/band anyway. Do he always sing in german ?

Track 16: mellow pop track, feels french I dont know why ahah.

Track 17: !!! Another surprise on the mix !! This feels so different from all I heard before! Love the rythm given by the guitar/echo. A real gem !

Track 18: Rock-ish track in spanish. I don't like the singer's voice at all. This is the only track that I dislike in the mix. Sorry...

Track 19: intro with piano, feels like a pop rock song from an original movie soundtrack. The singer has a raw voice, nice.

Track 20: mhhh this song is in french, it's very unexpected, there are several singers, seem to be a song from a musical or something. Not my thing at the beginning, but they eventually won me over :p

Very good mix with such different styles and song ! My mixtaper really did a great job! The stand out track: 1 / 2 / 8 /10 / 15 / 17. Now I cant wait to have the tracklist !!

Ok, so I had planned on writing my review yesterday but I was very busy and got home very late. But I wanted to have something written so who ever made my tape wouldn't think I didn't like it or something. I guess I recieved my tape on Tues. Not sure. Sorry, I don't have the best memory.

Thanks so much to whoever made my mix for me. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The goal was accomplished because I didn't recognize any of the artists on my tape except for Coldplay. You picked a gem! Chris's vocals are gold. And can I just say wow! 21 songs! This person must have done this before. I thought all the songs meshed well together. The tape as a whole seemed to flow really well. Track 6 definitely stood out of course. The song title escapes me at the moment though. Forgive me.

I loved the live track on this mix. Live music is always better than studio and so it was a nice treat to get a live track on the tape. Very eclectic mix. Very different from the music I usually listen to and am familiar with so good job! Overall I was pleased.

Thanks fellow mixtaper.
