There is hardly any news on this, not even the album title, but it seems that Guy is co-producing The Pierces' new album with Rick Simpson, and Michael Brauer (who mixed Viva la Vida) is mixing it. He was also the one to reveal Guy's involvement with a tweet yesterday.

 

"Mixing the upcoming Pierces record. Guy Berryman(coldplay) & Rik Simpson(CP engineer) producing. Songs r great!!"

 

Though searching around also BJ Cole, a pedal steel guitarist, wrote this in his website:

"..as well as artists with a more straight ahead pop sensibility such as RHYS WILLIAMS and The PIERCES. The latter being two glamorous and talented young ladies from the USA who's new album is being co produced by GUY BERRYMAN of COLDPLAY at the group's studio in London."

 

The Pierces are two sisters from Alabama, and the new album is gonna be their fourth. These are their myspace page and official website.

 

 

I have no idea how this project came about, but I think Albert Hammond Jr. could have had a role since he once dated one of the sisters :P

 

Hopefully we will find more news in the future :)

That's great news!! I love The Pierces!!! Their last album - "Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge" - is awesome! You can't get their album here (Argentina), I actually searched everywhere... And then I went to France during the summer and couldn't find it there either... I got it online though, and it's brilliant. Each song in there is amazing... Especially 'Secret', 'Sticks and Stones', 'Go to Heaven', 'Three Wishes', 'Ruin' (all of them lol)... Anyway I bet their next album is going to be even more amazing if Guy is working with them! =D

..but I seriously can't understand the terms he uses in the following...anyone able to clarify? :uhoh:

 

"i changed st buss compressors several times over the course of the Pierces, it always amazes me how it changes the feel...I can change the way the listener moves. One compressor has Guy grooving up and down while listening and the other has him going forward...which way is best for the song? bounce or not..shadow made him bounce, 670 made him groove in half time. we went with the shadow feel"

I know things have been quiet for a while now, but that’s because we’ve been working really hard on something special for you. There were shackles to escape and a couple of dragons to slay, but we are finally free and clear. We have a new deal with Polydor Records in London and we have a new album on it’s way!!!

 

We’ve missed you all but we’ve had an amazing time writing and recording our new music. The new album is produced by The Darktones which is made up of Guy Berryman from Coldplay and Grammy award winning producer, Rik Simpson. We really, really love the way it’s turned out and we can’t wait for you to hear it!

 

You have all been terribly patient, so we have something to tide you over until the record comes out. Here is an acoustic version of one of our new songs, “Love You More”. We also have a video for the studio version of this song coming for you very soon. It was shot in the desert in the dead of Summer so this video is HOT! Literally :)

 

We love you and we are so happy to be back!
