so i messaged the account on youtube, like someone else did and this is the response i got back.

Firstly we are fans of Coldplay, it sort of went from a joint love of their music and turned into a chance to really hunt out demo's and alike.

I cannot say who got this for us like I cannot say this is 100 percent proof of a new demo, but the contact works in Media in London, and as he works in Studio's sometimes - I personally trust him, but I cannot say 100 percent, im being honest with you on that one.

I hope is real, we have already had an account shut down by EMI for putting this song up, thats why we made a new account.

Demo's are sometimes sent to us, by contacts etc - even fans, some sound real and some dont, but we are always honest about it in the description and only put what we consider to be the best up.

Alas we unfortunately lost some very good demo's 'Parachutes' by Chris on the piano was one, the claim by EMI deleted our songs, many users on here are from our old account.

 

There will probably be a demo or 2 up this weekend :), we have normal lives too (work 9-5), so we will try and fit it in,

Im not sure how to feel about the fact hes unsure if its real, i think that makes me think more so as if it was a fake and he knew it he would have said that it was 100% real. Because hes not makes me think that it is a larger chance... but it could be the other way, thoughts?

Yeah I did tell him I was searching for some demos from Viva era (obviously not the ones that leaked out last year!), but I got the impression that he wanted to know exactly what song I had in mind so I wrote him back that I was looking for the likes of FOP, LRLRL, The Deserter, and a bunch of songs which we know only by title. Perhaps he'll be back with some good news ;)

I think it's just a good imitator. The voice is close to pitch-perfect, at least on the first leak (I really don't think "Wedding Bells" is him at all) but his accent (for lack of a better word), his intonation, his way of saying words, just seems wrong to me. Obviously it could be intentional, but I just really don't think this is Chris. The quality of the recordings is also just not that good, or it's drenched in way too much reverb/effects for me to be convinced that it's a real Coldplay demo. Remember the VLVOD demos we got not so long ago? Listen to "Bloodless Revolution" or something else from that set of demos and the differences become extremely apparent. Unless Chris has completely changed his style of laying down the first sketches of a song (possible, but I feel like artists tend to work in the same way despite trying to produce different things), these just aren't his style, either. I could be entirely wrong, but at this point, I'd say I'm about 70% sure it's not Chris.

Maybe just ask of the one(s) he's provided, which era it's from, and also for the ones he plans to "leak" this weekend. I still don't understand how a "studio worker" can casually access this information without anyone noticing. It doesn't make sense.

The more demos we listen to the more chance we have of figuring out if they are really Coldplay demos! To me so far the demos lay out like this if you're seeing if it's them or not:

Coldplay - 1 song

Not Coldplay - 1 song

well I think the leaked song is Coldplay's. Plus Oracle hasn't responded to this, if it would have been fake, she probably would - sooner.

^ I kind of doubt it...she gets thousands of questions a day and has thousands more on the shelves that she picks from to answer so she might have not encountered one of the questions yet, and anyway, I doubt they'd regard this as an unusually pressing matter as a band, as it's happened before. I don't think she has any responsibility or vested interest in speaking on this whole demo thing one way or another. EMI was probably just scared that the demo might be Coldplay and tore it down as a precaution, because they as a company have no idea what Chris's demos are any more than we do.

 

Hope I'm not bursting anyone's bubble ;). I just really don't think we should get our hopes up too high.
