HMV.com Has a Coldplay DVD for Pre-Order...?

Featured Replies

I don't want to start a big hubub, since I bet it'll come to nothing, but I thought I should share what I found with everyone (...I don't think anyone else has posted about it recently) and ask if anyone else has heard anything about it, since I haven't been here in awhile.

I was poking around HMV.com (I'm trying to find a 7" of Life in Technicolor ii to no avail) when I saw they have a DVD called "Coldplay" for pre-order that will apparently be released on 27 September 2010. Check it here. The product description makes it sound like it's a documentary about them up to this point, which made me think of the Matt Whitecross film, but it's so shoddily written that I don't think that's really what this is.

I don't honestly think it'll come to anything, since if it was that rumored Live 2003-esque release we've all been dying for for 7 years/the Matt Whitecross film, I think we would have been told about it by now. This is probably either an error or just another one of those disappointing unauthorized DVDs, but I thought I'd open the doors wide to insane speculation with you all on here :D

Even if it is a mistake for the 27th, it does actually get my hopes up a bit about there being something officially released in the somewhat-near future! I asked the Oracle about it just for kicks. I don't think she'll answer, but it might make them aware that something's on the site in error, so they might take it down pretty fast (or if pigs are flying, that something's coming out soon).

(HI EVERYONE, by the way! Haven't been here in a while, but I know that'll change the second we get some concrete news about LP5...)

YOU SAY WHAAAAAA.

The picture looks like something from X&Y.. It's a bit late, maybe it some unauthorized crap.

And the title is just Coldplay .. coldplay.

Nyeh, wouldn't give my hopes up.

WELCOME BACK BTW :cheesy:

Hmm, interesting. Hard to tell...

Maybe someone should ask the Oracle. Maybe send her the link and ask if it's for real.

Got it covered already . Doubt she'll answer, but it might make HMV do something about it.

Still doesn't seem to want to work for me. Ah, well, I'll take your word for it.

I agree that it does seem old. I have zero hope for this turning out to be a good thing for us, but I thought I'd share anyway :P

Hahaha, if that's the picture than this is definitely one of those unauthorized ones. Or just nonexistant. Not that I had much hope in the first place, but that just seals the deal.

Told ya'.

Wtf does it say below?.. I read Coldplay Icons lulz.

don't it was a rumour that they may release a dvd before the new album?

-or was the fans hope?.

good news it they become true and is new material.

thanks for the info and welcome back chelsea :)

Seems to be another "Documentary" in my eyes.

To bad :laugh3:

"Packed with interviews, performances from top selling albums including Parachutes and Blood to the Head, this film shows why the band continues to inspire generations of music lover world-wide"

My fucking god, it comes out when I'm not in uk anymore. :(

This is definitely an unauthorised DVD. Click on the label 'Stax' to see their other unauthorised documentaries

Yeah I think it's possible because I've never heard about "Stax" before...

Here is larger box art

This DVD seems to be more than a rumor now i found it elsewhere:

play.com: Here

Zavvi: Here

yeah it looks like an unathorized one, plus it's a bit late to release a VLV dvd :uhoh:

Been to HMV like ten days ago and I was justchecking around and they had pleeeeeeeenty of Coldplay DVDs, shame they were all like unauthorised documentaries =((

So may be just another one of them?

But it'd be sooooooo nice if they'd put out a DVD from Viva La Vida tour for example hehe

I am still very disappointed in Coldplay, harry.

I just want to ask, when will be the release of the VLV DVD? I thought they said there would be one...

One of those unofficial DVDs which features some music 'experts' which nobody has ever heard of sitting around an uncomfortable looking sofa discussing the varies merits of the band with stock footage and stock interviews
