Since when does music being "depressing" equate to being "bad" music?

I don't think anyone used the word "bad", which would be totally inappropriate seeing as it clearly isn't in the same category as that churned out by the likes of Gargoyle and Bieber.

That's what I think of Radiohead. :|

Yup. That's about right, I'd say.;)

same here :blank:

I put Radiohead on my iPod before I went to bed, and I actually fell asleep from it. No joke. So at least now I know how to fall asleep easy. :|

Give him some proper background music to listen to ;)

Like In Rainbows? :P

@ Mark: Well, given that you put it in the same sentence as "super dull," I kinda was under the impression that maybe you thought depressing music wasn't good.

I know you weren't talking to me, but I love depressing music but I just don't like Radiohead's style of it.

I hate OK Computer, but I love Radiohead.

I genuinely don't think it's a very good album, singles aside.

But the album is like a whole story how can it not be good?

Just like how Alexa doesn't like Muse and I don't like Radiohead- Opinions.

Like In Rainbows? :P

actually I downloaded In Rainbows once and I tried to listen to it but it made me feel very sleepy.

Of course I udnerstand people who love them, I mean, it's music, not everyone must like the same stuff

And you know, that's completely OK. I know different people like different things and dislike others. :nice:

Well then what album has more meaning???

hunky dory?

I find OK Computer to be one of the most consistent records ever. There isn't one filler in the whole entire album. The meaning of the album might be dark at times but it touches the inner depths of the human soul.

you may find this yes. but other people don't. i love the album but if people don't like it it doesn't matter. don't try and force it on him, instead try and get him into something else. another band perhaps.

i think the dark side of the moon is wank, but loads of people like it. they obviously see things in it that i don't, or relate to it in ways that i don't.

But the album is like a whole story how can it not be good?

harry potter is a story and i don't like that.

The Resistance isn't any better.

the resistance isn't anything.

Its coldplays weakest album. Critics hate it. I for myself think its ok at best.

I dont care what some pompous critic thinks... I think its fantastic.

Not their weakest album

definitely better than Viva thats for sure.

See you think X&Y is ok at best

Your friend thinks OK Computer is ok at best

so maybe he just feels about Radiohead how you feel about Coldplay and vice versa.

Or are we not allowed to dislike radiohead anymore?

actually I downloaded In Rainbows once and I tried to listen to it but it made me feel very sleepy.

Yeah, I did that too. And I understand what you mean as well.

And you know, that's completely OK. I know different people like different things and dislike others. :nice:

Exactly. I'm not going to be all rude to anyone because they like another band that I don't. If everyone liked the same music, how would music evolve at all?

If someone could show me a better album I would gladly listen to it.

Slanted and Enchanted - Pavement

Kid A - Radiohead

idk all i wanted to say is i just find it dissapointing that my friend doesnt love it as much as I do.

I put Radiohead on my iPod before I went to bed, and I actually fell asleep from it. No joke. So at least now I know how to fall asleep easy. :|

@ Mark: Well, given that you put it in the same sentence as "super dull," I kinda was under the impression that maybe you thought depressing music wasn't good.

Well "depressing" music doesn't do anything for me, so I'd rather not listen to it. I tried to listen to "In Rainbows" a few times, but it didn't excite me in any way whatsoever.

Also judging someone for not liking an album is really silly.

Definitely.;)

OK Computer isn't that good. Amnesiac and Kid A and In Rainbows and possibly Hail To The Theif are all better.

Ok.
