Thats no excuse

I liked the Beatles and Journey and the Doors ever since I can remember.

He probably just isnt being musically educated right. I mean... anyone who lets their 4 and 6 year old listen to 99 problems by Jay Z needs to be shot out a damn cannon.

it's all Gwyneth's fault

Chris probably doesn't like it when his music is played. He probably hears every single mistake, minute as they might be.

It's like how I hate listening to my voice when my parents take a video of me at like a birthday party or something; I get so embarrassed.

Um, what? That's a bit condescending, don't you think? The boy's four years old, for crying out loud! It's probably like everyone has said; Chris doesn't like to have his music played (from what we've heard on radio shows and whatnot).

99 problems[/color] by Jay Z needs to be shot out a damn cannon.

They said that in the article? Gosh I must have missed that. :|

When I was that age, my sister and I would crank up Olivia Newton John on the record player. "I wanna get physical, physical; I wanna get animal, animal." Do you think we knew what it meant to "get animal"? No. But the song just sounded cool and we could groove to it.

Chris probably forbids anyone in the house to listen to Coldplay anyway :P

:lol:this

I've loved the Beatles and Coldplay since I was five,

Who lets their 4 year old son listen to T-pain and Jay-z?

When my little sisters are watching T.V and Lady Gaga or Ke$ha comes on, I change it straight away

There is a video of Gwyneth telling I think Conan O'Brien how she let's Moses watch Jay-Z's "99 Problems" video. She said "which is completely inappropriate by the way for a three year old." She said they call Moses their "sensitive thug." It was actually pretty funny to watch. Moses loves Uncle J.

He's four years old. Kids like what they like. Also, so what if he listens to Jay-Z. I grew up listening to Nas and Wu-Tang Clan who had way more hardcore songs than 99 Problems. His music is far less "hood" than it used to be.

hood?

that sounds like progress to me.

and still

songs that have PARENT ADVISORY slapped across the CD case have it there for a reason

its not just about the explicitness of the lyrics

its the overall message in the music

and in rap ...usually it is sex, greed, drugs and violence

Any parent who lets there child listen to songs with that kind of message is a bad parent IMO.

And that covers messages in all genres of song not just rap... although that is where it is most prevalent.

As much as I agree with you about the parental advisory, I have to disagree. Someone else mentioned that children don't really get the messages in music, whether it be sex or violence like you mentioned. At that age, they like songs because of the feel of them or a catchy beat, and rarely understand what the song is actually about.

That being said, I still wouldn't let my child listen to Jay-Z that young. :|

hood?

Never said it wasn't. Jay-Z doesn't live in the hood anymore. So he's not rapping about that. But when he was living in the hood and selling crack, that was the content of his music. And many others who come from that environment. That's what hip-hop was. An outlet for people who came from that.

As opposed to videogames and movies and cartoons with violence in them? If you're gonna go there, you can't limit it at rap music or music in general. The fact of the matter is that it's unavoidable. The only thing a parent can do is teach their kid right from wrong. And with that instilled in them, listening to a rap song with swearing in it or watching an action movie with somebody's head being blown off won't make them want to emulate it. That's good parenting, IMO.

This is so stupid. I mean, why would you adults judge the music taste of a 4 year old boy?, just because his father is Chris doesn't mean he'll like Coldplay and even if he'd like coldplay leave him alone he's just a kid, he probably switches between Jay-z and kids songs everyday.

Poor child, he is so young to know about life.
