I think I was too excited and too in shock last night about Strokes news AND upcoming Coldplay news (maybe) to click on the days and read further details :lol:. Shame :P.

 

I guess I'm doing this "staying up til 5AM" thing for Coldplay again tomorrow night :dozey:. Thank God I'm still on my holidays! I actually prefer staying up til 5AM because of the US timezone than waking up at 7AM in my English timezone when I'm there :P

Ugh...that's 11pm-2am for me in California. Or if I listen on my XM feed, it's from 4am-7am. I'm sure some wonderful person will record and post on MM. ( :heart: Anna? :heart:)

My prediction on the conversation:

 

- discuss the Christmas Lights video shoot briefly

- review the Crisis gigs in Liverpool and Newcastle

- talk about their time in the studio, there's a few different "directions" they can take it*

- mention the numerous festivals they are scheduled to perform at this year; they'll try out some of their new material, see what "works" and what doesn't so they can figure out which "direction" to take LP5*

- blindly say it might be released sometime this year or next year*

 

* Or they'll go ahead and say they're done (based on what somebody apparently was told by Jonny in Newcastle) and will release it by summer.

^I agree completely. Even though it sounds promising, after the initial excitement wore off, I was like "oh wait, I know how these guys are" :P

 

I think there might be a tiny nugget of hope/news or something embedded in there, but we also know how often they change their minds :dozey:. Chris even admitted it on Fearne Cotton last month :P.

 

I guess it's just interesting that they're going back on radio so soon for a chat for seemingly no concrete reason. My optimistic side thinks they must have decided/agreed to go on for a reason, even if it's just to say "yeah, it'll be out this summer" vaguely...:thinking:

I hope he says more than what he said in the last couple of interviews. Actually just don't talk Chris. Let Will do all the talking.

I just want a date for the album and to know what sort of thing to expect.. but we'll have to see :blank:

this does sound promising! i mean they got nothing to promote! christmas lights is done, so are the crisis gigs! i mean they spoke about all that before! no reason to talk about it now! looking forward to it!

I definitely think that they are going to have a big announcement to make. The guys don't do radio shows for no reason, especially considering that they just did a radio show a month ago. Obviously I'm just speculating but I think they're going to announce an album date, I doubt that they would just speak about how far along they are. They were supposed to be done the album by now, and I don't think they would go on another tour to test material. They aren't a band who goes out on a tour to test new stuff, they usually just release the album.

I agree that this smacks of something more than just a drop-in-and-chat without anything concrete on the agenda. I don't want to get my hopes up about solid release dates or anything, though. I think they could reveal the name or something if they're really going to be dispensing real info :D. Unless this thing is coming out in the spring, meaning like before April (and I'm in the camp of people that thinks it's June at the earliest), I really don't think they'll have a concrete release date in mind to tell us. But maybe a better timeframe!

It's funny how rusty my memory is on all the VLV release stuff :P. I distinctly remember that there was a week in March 08, starting on the 17th, where we got a bit of info every single day for a week, partially by accident and partially by announcement. Because I'm still on holidays and have nothing better to do, I'm going to dig around about how and when we found out about everything because I'm curious to see if they could pull similar timeframe and strategies this time :D

If they do actually announce something concrete and it has to do with release dates and if they say March of this year I may just pass out. I don't know if I could handle new records from my two favorite bands in the same month.
