I recently stumbled upon this CD and bought it because i had never heard of it before. Anyone know how rare it is? or why it was even made, etc. ?

Not sure how 'rare' it is, but I have it too. A bunch of 'Tour' editions of X&Y were released for different regions although they were mostly the same. In addition to the SE Asia edition, there was an Australian edition and Latin American edition (don't think there were any others, but could be mistaken). There's also a 2CD 'Special' Dutch edition, but don't think that was a 'Tour' edition since it just had the b-sides and not the videos and doesn't have 'Tour' in the title. The Latin American Tour Edition had the X&Y EPK added along with the b-sides & videos, so it's the most complete edition of the bunch. I ended up with all but the Australian Edition since I collected them along the way. I never got the Australian one since I already had the SE Asia edition and the only difference between the two is the slipcase cover. :P

Hmm I saw it on walmart.com once or barnesand noble. But I didn't know if I should buy it. I thought it was basically like live 2003. N I never got around to buying this. U guys think I should get it? Like what exactly does it have?

this is not so rare.. anyway it's a nice item to have in your collection. X&Y had more than one edition. Apart from the "normal" different national editions, it was made in 2CD with paper box edition with different artworks. There was the australian edition (the guys in a country, open air), the dutch edition (the guys in a recording studio seated on the floor), the south american edition (red cover, same artwork), the south east asia tour editon (the one u bought). Then there are other editions, like the taiwanese one and so on...

Why it was made, er, I'm hazarding a guess at speshul promotion for the tour?

Mind you, I found mine in a store in 2007 (year and a half later) and haven't seen any since, so I imagine they're not in print anymore.

They're definitely not in print any longer, but I think they were all so mass produced that none of them are very rare...yet! They can all still be found pretty regularly on eBay, maybe even the Amazon marketplace, or the general music marketplace sites, all for fair price.

I saw them in Malaysian stores many times, but I didn't buy though.

In addition to what everone is saying: no, it's not extremely rare, but also bare in mind that there are different version of that release:

 

Taiwanese:

 

 

 

Philippino:

 

 

 

Thailand:

 

 

 

Chinese:

 

 

 

 

So in conclusion, it also kind of depends on which one you've got. There might be a tiny difference in which ones are easier to find, but none of these are super rare.

Haha no I definitely got live 2003 a while ago but that was difficult to find :P

 

No I was referring to these x&y versions I saw once once and I wanted to know if it was worth buying.

Most of the X&Y Tour Editions have almost the same "extra content", right? what changes is the artwork, or am I wrong? I only have the Latin America Tour Edition, but it's almost the same as the one above^^, but it has a "track by track interview" in the DVD. I don't know about the rest, but the Latin America tour edition can still be found on e-bay, not on shops (or rarely, I'd say) , though.

It's not like Live 2003. It's basically just the album with another cd that has a few extras such as b-sides and music videos from the singles on the album.I didn't have X&Y when choosing to buy it or not so I bought the South East Asia Tour Edition cause I thought I might as well since it has a few extras along with X&Y. :)

It sounds cool. I think I wanna buy it then cuz I like having the physical copy of music I love. And my X&Y cd got stolen so I don't have it anymore :( (learned to not let people borrow my coldplay cds!) so it will be good to buy this :D
