locust is back :awesome:

Thanks for the info :nice:

So late? :disappointed:

Ah well, if they need the time, then so be it.

I think October makes sense based on what the label has said as well. I originally guessed June, but I think that's a bit early for where they seem to be in the recording process right now. I also tend to pay a bit more attention when this locust7 guy speaks because he's been right about these kinds of things before...

I think if that we're really going to get the album any earlier than July/August, we're going to start getting more news very soon, like in the next four weeks. March was when all the exciting news about VLVOD was coming out, and on average bands seem to start releasing concrete info around the three-months-before-release mark, so if people are still clinging to the hope of a June release, I think the month of March and early April is kind of a litmus test.

I'm surprised how patient I am for this. I think it's because 2011 is chock-full of releases I'm excited about that will keep me mostly satisfied in the meantime. And selfishly, I don't want them to tour until after I move back to the US :P

Ah, so 5 days (which actually turned out to be 4 days) isn't normal

that's right :laugh3:

october is a bad choice in my opinion, and its not because they're taking too much time, I just want a good album.

I mean, they just can't play the viva tour things again, I mean they toured way too much so it'd be boring. And let's face it, the old songs stuff would be awesome but only fans would appreciate it

Yes, they could play new songs, but at festivals that wouldn't be that smart, they are headlining everywhere and well, it's not like only coldplay fans would be there. It could be boring and not make a great impression

Plus, that'd mean a winter US/europe tour, poor fans freezing while queueing

on a personal note if they release the album in october I hope they play NY in december so I can make travel plans

U.S. fans are boring, we don't queue
it's a secret

in my opinion, if you're going to believe anyone, it would be him

It is not because I don't belive him, I just wanna know how he knows so much about it.

U.S. fans are boring, we don't queue

why not?

really? I queued since 9am for the viva gig and still I was waiting in line like two blocks away from the venue  there was people camping since like 3 days before the concert :uhoh:

Many people who are not fans would be disappointed to hear all new songs as well, so I don't know , it's confusing. Maybe they start touring in Japan, other Asian countries and Australia? (they usually tour there in Feb/March or Latin America, but I don't really think they start touring here)

Ohhh, how I wish Coldplay would break with EMI after this and start pulling crazy stunts like that .

I don't know, I think they can and will play Viva stuff again at all these festivals. I think at most, they might play one or two new things and keep the rest to the classics, a kind of mix of all four albums equally like they did at the Crisis gigs. I think this is partially because EMI might have something to say about their biggest cash-cow giving a lot of previews of new things, partially because I don't know if they're ballsy enough anymore to have a festival be the ground from which they reveal new material, and partially because they're playing festivals and not their own gigs, and that they won't want to alienate non-Coldplay fans by playing new things they're not familiar with or interested in hearing yet. I consider festivals to be a kind of step down from their own tour, where they don't have as much leeway with what they want to do onstage. Yes, I know they've played new things live and at festivals before, but I think they're a bit of a different band now, and certainly one with a different perspective and different influencing factors on that decision.

I don't really see the big deal with a winter tour, either...queuing is more fun in extremes! :P (and watch me die of heatstroke at Coachella :uhoh:)

But yeah, big US arenas don't usually do as much queuing because US venues don't allow as many people to do GA, in general.

If I'm correct, they have seats in the US so there's no reason for queueing (is that a word?..), waiting for hours and running won't get you closer to the stage.

I prefer the waiting honestly :D

they won't start touring in latin america or asia, the money is in the US and Europe.

Yeah of course they can do that Chelsea, but it wouldn't be exciting really.

Typically the venues aren't such that you would need to. For the "shed" gigs, the assigned seating is the front half, and the general admission seating is in the back (on the grass). For the indoor venues, although the general admission is in the front of the stage, there's usually not much of it (compared to European venues, I think). And even if people do queue (which isn't very long anyway), the venue would let the people inside. :D

Don't they have a pit area?

edit: never mind, Carrie already answered this.

I said I don't really think they will....but Japan is a big market, though

But Japan is just one country, Europe is so much bigger.

Yeah but Japan is a small country. They'd need to charge a lot like they do here in south america. I just hope they come here because I can't afford 200+ dollar tickets if I have to pay for a flight too

MAGIC TIMES?!?!:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: :laugh3::laugh3: and...:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: hehehehe

I seriously have been laughing for the last 15min.

Winter tour will mean freezing all day... well, I'll start the vitamine C diet today :laugh3:

As for the festivals, I hope they'll do it Kings of Leon style and will debute new songs there  We can have 3-4 new tracks and old songs. Would be cool and logic!

@Cooky: that sounds like something from the harry potter soundtrack :uhoh:

That just makes it even funnier!

I just keep picturing them all high, "woooow, these are magic times, man!" :idea2:
