look at the songs theyve thrown out! famous old painters, wedding bells. ah dang that list was shorter than expected. but still i think itll be great! have faith guys!

Not to be pessimist but how do we know "Famous Old Painters" was a masterpiece? We've never even heard a tiny bit from it? Wedding Bells was good, but not great. I like it and I would like to have it as a b-side but I'm not sure I'd like to have it on LP5. However, I do share your enthusiasm. It's a bit of a downer to hear they've started over again but I'm sure they won't release something they're not comfortable with and I trust them to make the right decisions :nice:

haha thanks. but idk what they really mean by starting over. when they say they start over, maybe they just mean theyre throwing out all those songs in the B and C pile and starting a new batch of ideas to get more songs for the A pile. I mean, i can hardly see chris ever truly starting over and just letting all those great ideas die.

 

O, and i think famous old painters sounds great because of 1. the name, and 2. ill take phils word for it....and i was obseesed with wedding bells when it first got played

According to the article, they suppossedly went back to work on the first idea they had had, if I'm not mistaken. So I don't think they just throw out all the other ideas, they may just go and explore some other new ideas.

^well its a new album some songs wouldn't fit in so maybe thats what they meant by throwing stuff out.

I was obsessed with Wedding Bells too, I was craving for something new, and I think it's a sweet and heartfelt song, I like it, but it's not a song I play regularly. Maybe those songs they set apart end up on an EP later, or as B-sides.

Wedding Bells isn't very impressive, I really hope that's not the kind of song that LP5 will include

 

And Famous old painters... you can't judge a song by its name, which is good because we've heard some baaad names... every drop is a waterfall, hurts like heaven :lol:

Jeez. We only heard acoustic version of Wedding Bells in crappy quality and people already said it's mediocre. Shame on you. I for one love Wedding Bells. It has great melody, nerve and emotional impact. It's actually closer to the first 3 albums and I like this fact very much. It could be awesome song in studio version with more instruments and sound.

Personaly I loved Wedding Bells, but thats only my opinion

seriously, i dunno, after reading that news about them starting the album again (thought that doesn't say when it happened, could had been last year!) i dunno how often they record material, how easy they compose, mix and so on, so may be to finish an album for March-April and release it around May to justify all the summer festivals they said they'll do, might be a bit too fast to do a proper job, imo.

 

I just hope they'll go back to rock style.

I fear Chris got too much sun lolling around the beaches with Gwynnie

and decided to scrap and redo the whole dang thing.

I expect a heavy Jamaica mun influence.:D

It's not like the fans go inside the bakery and hang out with them, stopping the band from working on the new album, they just meet the fans when they're going in/out and it just last a few seconds or minutes. They probably have professional and personal reasons to release the album on a certain date and taking more time isn't a bad thing. I'm sure 90% of the people here would rather wait for a good album. Also, they deserve some free time too, they have families and friends.

theyre going to release it on the 42nd tuesday of the year! October 18th...thats a complete guess but if locust is right, and he usually is, itll be out in october. albums come out on tuesdays, and that gives me a 25% chance of being right :D

well who knows when theyll start touring. i mean phil said itd take longer than usual but now who nos, it could be immediate...
