When do you think LP5 will come out?

Lemme back up a bit to the "no new songs" tidbit real quickly...even if it turns out to be a bunch of tabloid junk, I really can't foresee them playing more than a couple new songs, anyway. If your entire audience is unfamiliar with much of your material, they won't be into your show very much. I remember they played "Glass of Water" a few times before PM's release, but that was just one new song, which was perfectly okay in my mind since it doesn't break up the flow or audience connection too much. Say what you want about Coldplay playing a bunch of AROBTTH before its release, but that was before Coldplay really had a large and established backlog of material.

But at the same time, I would hope that they don't merely repeat the Viva setlists. Tracks like Trouble and Shiver were played again at the intimate December gigs, and they can probably incorporate some other oldies that were dropped during the Viva tour (all of which would make me insanely jealous of everyone there, of course :P).

As for the Oracle reaffirming the pushed-back release, I sort of accepted this earlier with locust's post, but I guess this is another nudge for those who were holding out on more official word. I think what some of you guys are upset about is the fact that we've gotten so many different answers on when the thing will finally be released, even from the band members themselves, that it's become a huge tease game. That's perfectly understandable to maybe be a little frustrated about, but with the band coming out of the woodwork for these festivals, at least you know they're not just dawdling around. It takes a bit for bands to get "back in the swing" of touring, anyway, so hopefully their performance can be in tip-top shape once they're ready to debut the new material live (though I'm sure the festivals will still be quite dandy with the old material, too!).

(I'm usually the pessimist with these types of things, but I'm playing a bit of role-reversal here :))

Aw, this was a nice and realistic post!:nice: Thanks! :)

I wonder if the album delay has anything to do with "Mrs Martin" and that Chris is writing songs for her at the moment?

Um, I'd say absolutely not. As far as I know he's written one song for her latest movie - not something that would draw any attention away from his dedication to the album.

no need to wonder, the answer is no

Well just a suggestion. She is up and coming with her music career. Chris will surely be working with her on it.

It's just been mentioned on absolute radio that they won't play new songs...I shouldn't read or listen to any of the media if I dont want to get sad, it seems...Anway,I still think they will play at least one new song (even if's not gonna be on the album).

If this is true, I will be extremely dissapointed and saddened. That would just be the lamest move of their career so far.

I really hope you're wrong, darling  it would be so horrible to see that :(

"A source suggests they won't play any new material"

Yes that source comes from a source given to The Daily Star. Do not believe anything.

Perhaps if we bombard the Oracle we may get a few hints on their potential setlists for the festivals. Either way we'll get amazing shows from them. I think they'll start these festival concerts with Shiver or In My Place.

Are you kidding me about the fact they are going to play only old material (again)? C'mon man, I want to some new stuff....

If this is for real than I guess that we can expect a very boring setlist only to their biggest hits like clocks, fix you, viva etc..... AGAIN

:) thank you :D. And im serious. Jayz better not touch this album or any song and ruin it like he did Lost+ );

Jay-z better not be on this new albun );

Or Gwyneth for that matter.

Yeh it was so bad instead of calling it Lost+ it should have been called Lost- ;)

My reaction when I read that:

And then I laughed, but I have no idea why. :|

But still, wth Coldplay.

So it's confirmed

NOT IN MAY :bigcry:

AND NO NEW SONGS FOR THE FESTIVALS?!:wtf:

I hope it's true, I agree the audience wouldn't be into new songs and it wouldn't be good for the band.

And I really hope they take all the time they need because I don't want a crappy album.

Yeh it was so bad instead of calling it Lost+ it should have been called Lost- ;)

haha, i didnt think it was that bad. honestly im so thankful that song existed because i was a stupid kid only listening to hip-hop like the rest of my peers and lost+ made me go ahead and expand my coldplay library from just fix you and viva.

anyway, lost- is instrumental in case u didnt no that :)

also, maybe we shouldnt quote locust and risk him "getting in trouble" as hes afraid of this

If Coldplay's purpose at festivals is not to play fresh material then they may as well give up now. As a fan I want them to keep giving us something new. They won't play new material on the scale of Glastonbury 2002 as their back catalogue was relatively thin back then so even 2 or 3 songs would be lovely.

1. There's nothing bad about mainly playing a greatest hits/best of set at festivals. We might get to hear some old songs they haven't done for a while. Festival tours are different than album tours.

2. "There definitely won't be anything new before Glastonbury and their summer dates"

This is the only statement the wholes article and this discussion is based upon.

Where does the source, quoted by the Daily Star, say they wouldn't play new songs at the festivals???

I still can't tell who/what the "source" in the article is. The falafel reference confuses me. :|

*I didn't know food could talk*

can u even really flip falafels, arent they like balls? someone quickly ask debs who flips chris' falafels!

Comon guys, they're always playing new material. All of a sudden they do a complete 180 with their mindset? Im pretty damn sure they'll play at least a couple new tracks, who would want anything more than that? People want to feel like a whole at festivals, so Coldplay will play the tracks that have brought people together in the past. Festivals aren't exactly the best time to be experimenting with tracks and setlists. Lets not be selfish, their new album is on the way and there will be plenty of concerts promoting it!

THEY'RE LYING!
