I am pretty sure that the Coldplay camp have a tentative date or month reserved for the album release. They would definitely see that no other major records come out in the same week. And they need ample time to promote it. After all, it's Coldplay. Moreover, it seems like October is quite a good guess. It generated an official statement to MTV trying to deny any release date.

 

It's quite clear people ... A Coldplay record is coming this year, The festivals won't have any new material... So it's quite clear that its in latter half of this year and my guess would be End of September. Chris told me so. Haha.

I think he's an EMI/Parlophone employee. I don't get the impression he's in with the band.

Coldplay Denies Album Release Dates

 

Coldplay have played down reports that their new album is set to be released in October.

 

The apparent release schedule for the Brian Eno and Markus Dravs-produced effort was published at the end of last month by the Madrid-based, Europa Press.

 

But a spokesperson for Coldplay told MTV News that the date was not true. "A release date has not yet been set for Coldplay's next studio album," they added.

 

 

The as-yet-untitled album will be the follow-up to 2008’s "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends".

 

Coldplay are set to headline this year’s Glastonbury festival, as well as perform at a host of other European festivals this summer.

I felt alittle excited by all the festivals being added almost daily, thinking for sure the album was going to have a springtime release, now I feel the October release, altho not confirmed by CP.com, will happen. I for one have learned some patience over the last few weeks, and realized it will happen when it happens. The boy's love their fans as much as we love them, so lets take a deep breath, knowing they are working hard for us, and we will be rewarded by an awesome LP5!!!!!!

 

Cheers to that, though I'm still sad if all that Festival excitement was for nothing. I pictured youtubing Coldplay's headlining gigs on repeat, playing mindblowing new music! Not mindblowing music I've heard them perform wayyyy too much.

No. They won't be in their Viva costumes. It would be a PR disaster for them - one moment they appear to still be promoting their last album and within weeks of them finishing their festival dates they release a new album with new themes - doesn't make sense so there's no chance in hell of those Viva costumes ever making another appearance. The fact that Oracle said old songs would be coming back says they will also probably be dropping quite a few of the Viva era songs that were sung during a Viva concert from their setlist.

Yes it sounds like it will be more of a "greatest hits" performance.

 

Although I am curious what they plan to wear (I know that sounds odd). Quite frankly I hope that each of them just wear whatever they want. Normal clothes. Let their own individual personalities shine.
