Well, Violet, being a Muse fan, I am very well placed myself when Ivet disses Muse. Yes, it can be annoying, but as she said, just ignore it. I try not to pay attention to it and my girlfriend still says some bad remark about my shirt when I wear a Muse one. However I know she doesn't do it to piss me off or to annoy me to the point of tears. She just likes to do that and well, I learned to ignore it. You shouldn't let it affect you. It's nothing personal.

I don't see her as being all "LOL JK," and according to how she's responded to me, I'm under the impression that she isn't. I actually am almost annoyed to the point of tears because I'm sitting here trying in various different ways to explain to her just how much some of the things she says hurts sometimes, and she just doesn't seem to care. It seems like she looks down on me due to the fact that I listen to them, and because she is someone that I consider a good friend of mine on this forum, that sincerely hurts my feelings, especially given that I would never do that to her.

Yeah, well, that's good for her, but not everyone is like that, and given that knowledge, she shouldn't expect other people to be like her in that sense. I have my limits, and they have been breached. They are simple comments, yes, but they have more power than some people think they do, particularly when repeated a number of times. I'm sorry that I'm human and have the flaw of having the capability to get sincerely annoyed and pissed off about something.

 

I never said she was that close-minded of a person. I believe I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that this is the only thing that's really bothering me.

 

You're telling me to not let it affect me. Well, honestly, it's a little late for that, given the amount of words I've put into this. Once I get set off on something, I tend to stay that way for a while. That's just another one of those human flaws I have. No, it's not necessarily a good thing, but it happens.

 

I shouldn't keep saying stuff like this, but I feel compelled to. After a point, yes, I do get annoyed, and maybe I shouldn't, but you have to understand that for people like me, Muse is not just a band. Muse came to me at a point in my life when I was at rock bottom and trying to find my way back up to where I needed to be. If it weren't for the solace I got from listening to their music when I first started listening to them, I probably wouldn't be alive today. It may sound stupid to say something like that about something as simple as a band, but it's true. It was encouraging for me to hear that they too wanted the loneliness to be over, and that I shouldn't be afraid because I was protected from trouble and pain. Through their music, I felt someone understood me for the first time in a long time. Muse literally saved my life, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone sit here and keep making such comments about them like they don't even matter.

I'm sorry it affects you, I really am. But I don't think that even if you tell me how important that band is, Ivet will stop. She likes to troll and she doesn't do it to upset you guys to that point. And the same will probably happen in your life about something else and with other people and you'll have to try to not let it affect you.

i can relate to violet here. i usually dont give a damn when someone criticises a band i really like. rather i take pity on them cos their lives are obviously crappy enough that they need to spend their time talking about something they don't like. but when it comes to pearl jam i can't handle people calling them shit because their music is very personal to me.

^well she can try to tell Ivet to stop every time she says something bad against Muse if it makes her feel better, but she still won't. :/

You say she hasn't done it to intentionally piss people off, but that's exactly what she's done. You keep telling me to try, and I have tried. I've tried damn hard, and that's really all you can (and should) expect from anyone. Yeah, there are times when I can be sensitive; O WOE IS ME. I've worked on that, and I've gotten a lot better at it. Yeah, there's definitely room for improvement, but you can't tell me that I don't try, because you'd be wrong.

 

I'm not asking to change her attitude about how she views Muse. I'm merely asking that she not do it so much and find not so harsh ways to do it. It can't be that hard.
