So, I'm considering RADIOHEAD

listen to that. if you still think there are no similarities between matt and thom there is something very wrong with you. and whats so bad about matt sounding a bit like thom? doesnt make matt any less amazing (just for the record he is my least favourite member of Muse by a very long shot)

i think radiohead are an amazing band but i'm never surprised when somebody doesn't like them. and liking them doesn't make your taste in music superior to others.

Just accept that people don't like Radiohead. Yes I know it's hard for you to accept some fans to accept that but that's just the case.

I never judged anyone's taste. I just think a large majority of people simply refuse to like Radiohead and are denying their obvious talent. I know for a FACT that a few members of this board hate Radiohead simply because they're ugly.

A lot of the earlier Muse reminds me of Exit Music. I love Radiohead, the capture me completely, and I really like Muse as well. I saw them live just recently (Muse) and they blew me away.

and why do you HAVE TO listen to every song and album before you say you don't like them. imo theres nothing wrong with having heard 5 or 6 songs and decided that a certain band just isnt for you. most of us dont have the time to listen to everything a band has done before making up our minds.

nevertheless. my motto is if you don't like a band. shut up about it and move on. (there are exceptions)

I hope you've changed your mind and won't call us pretentious anymore. :)

i still think radiohead fans are pretentious

see i can atleast say i like them but can u say the same abt coldplay:smartass2:

Like that girl up there saying she 'likes In Rainbows but hates Radiohead'. Just because they don't wear as fancy clothes as Matt Bellamy doesn't mean you can't listen to them and love them.

I'm just rambling, I know.

my dear plz start getting jokes

why would i hate them

They've got a few really good songs but that was back when they were a good band in the 90s.

they were better in 90's

at least then they were a rock band now they are more electronic/poprock band

NO. Why do people say that? Thom and Matt don't sound alike AT ALL.

they sound similar coz they have similar style of singing and yes matt bellamy is a better singer Christina

i agree

ppl here were comparing Mumford and sons to fleet foxes

i downloaded their album and hated it

and just make it clear Mumford and sons are so much better then fleet foxes

/i've rambled enough:laugh3:

i agree and disagree. i think the two bands are comparable. they might not sound exactly like each other but they come from a similar genre. like U2 and coldplay. they sound nothing like each other but it is totally fair to compare them. but i agree with you in saying that fleet foxes are so much better than mumford&sons. but as a live act m&s are one of the best going around cos they sound much rockier on stage.

and yeah radiohead were better in the 90s but they still continued to make good music in the 2000s. i think their career is very similar to U2 1980 to 2001. slow start (boy+october) then a few masterpieces (war + unforgettable fire + joshua tree) then something a little weird but amazing (achtung baby) then a slump (zooropa and pop) then another masterpiece (all that you cant). same with radiohead. slow start (pablo honey), masterpieces (the bends + ok computer), weird (kid a) slump (amnesiac +hail) then another masterpiece (in rainbows)

sorry if that last para is impossibly hard to read.

^ Exactly! I find that Matt's voice is full of power, whereas Thom's is much more mellow in quality.
Thom's voice got mellow in recent years; some time around 2000. If you listen to earlier songs, you'll see that his voice was more powerful back then. Then again, Matt's a bit younger than Thom, isn't he? That partially explains why Matt's voice is stronger.

Yeah, I just don't listen to them anymore. I still think their debut album was A+, and AROBTTH was even better.

THIS IS A COLDPLAY FORUM

Is it really? :surprised: Do Coldplay read it?

Greg told me to listen to Exit Music because it sounded like Muse. Still haven't gotten around to it. :P Maybe I will later.

And Muse live is just :dazzled:

Matt's 32 going on 33, Thom's 42 going on 43. So Matt is a decade younger. I can't imagine Matt's voice getting mellow like Thom's in a decade though, because in my opinion it's gotten stronger over the 10 years or so they've been touring a lot. His voice can fill a stadium now, but in the earlier years in some performances it was pretty weak.

Anyway.

omg :dazzled:

i didn't know we had that smiley

i still think radiohead fans are pretentious

I'm a huge radiohead fan and i've been one for almost 15 years but even though i'm a rh fan, i can admit that what you're saying it's true . There are some pretentious radiohead fans out there who are so fucking narrow-minded that you want to punch them in the face but fortunately not all of them are like that.

I started listening to rh cos i listened to creep on the radio and i loved it so i got the pablo honey album, it's not a bad album ( I especially loved blow out) then when the bends was released i was really addicted but when ok computer came out years later ,i was in heaven. Around that time i heard that Thom was getting into electronic music and that he might include some of that in their new album ( kid a) but i had no idea they were gonna change their music style so much and i'll be honest, the first time i got to listen to kid a i was like : "what the fuck is this shit?" . I was way too used to their old style and i missed the guitar riffs and yeah i was disappointed. It took me a while to get used to that album ( i hadn't listened many experimental/electro music before so you can imagine) and eventually and after million of listens ,it grew on me.

Now what i saw is that there was this wave of new radiohead fans who got into them thanks to kid a and who adore anything they do from kid a but absolutely hate the first 3 albums and that's just stupid. Ok computer was a masterpiece in my opinion and one of the best albums of the 90's and kid a is probably one of the best albums of the last decade ( yeah, i hated it at first but once you're used to their new style, you'll see how amazing that album really is).

I remember i joined atease years ago and fuck man, the place was filled with elitist and pretentious ****s. The same way people mock cp fangirls here ,i could easily mock rh fangirls there cos it was basically the same reaction from them, except they added tons of sarcasm and tried to be smartasses but they were fangirls/boys nonetheless. Not all of them are like that though and i made a few friends there but i know what you mean when you say that rh fans are pretentious. Some are, and i know some people dislike radiohead and don't even want to listen to their music because they're annoyed by those pretentious fans and i even stopped listening to rh for a few months because their hardcore fans annoyed me ( not only on atease but friends irl ).

One silly reason i heard from someone for not liking rh was that they're ugly and thom has a lazy eye..i mean, what the fuck?

Anyway, one advise i can give you is that you should listen to their music only, fuck their pretentious fans ( if you come across any of them that is ) , fuck their looks ( that has nothing to do with their talent and music) and just listen to their albums and try to give them a chance.

I saw in a TV special awhile ago, I think it was one of those '100 greatest artists' or 'greatest songs' shows, that Thom Yorke despises Creep and they don't play it live anymore. Is that true?

FUCK is that a FACT! A FEW MEMBERS WTF!!!

most bands i love have really ugly front men, take Matt Bellamy or tom smith from editors as examples:laugh3:

radiohead fans are pretentious, i think most fans of any bands are but radiohead fans are little to over the top i agree:shrug:

and just to clear up that me saying they were pretentious before was a joke but ppl here just didn't get it:laugh4:

i myself am a radiohead fan(not a hardcore kind but i like them)

music wise i just was a little turned off by the 5 and 6 albums, i loved the bends and ok computer but Amnesiac and hail to the thief just made me leave them

and i really started loving kid A in 2006 and now my favorite radiohead song is from that album

Haha i didn't mean you, it's just that i was bored once and went to the coldplay section and saw a rh thread there and some girls saying they didn't like rh cos thom yorke was not as pretty as chris martin and stuff like that.
