chris martin is pretty :shocked2: i still remember the day i saw yellow video on tv and thought the singers ugly

oh im a crazy crazy Muse fan so i don't mind crazy radiohead fans there are loads on .mu

And i just hated httt like i hate X&Y or blackholes and revelations

Haha that must be a fangirl thing only cos i'm a guy and i don't give a shit what the singers look like as long as they sound good.

Yeah i'm there too and saw a few. I only like the first 2 cp albums, the rest is just meh.

I think some RH fans are pretentious all the time, some are pretentious occasionally, and some are just normal fans.

But it's the minority that are extremely pretentious that get on my nerves. :shifty: And the ones that think that

a. Radiohead is the best band that ever lived

b. No music compares to Radiohead, in the whole history of the universe

c. If you don't listen to Radiohead you 1. are stupid 2. have horrible taste in music

That's what bothers me about the fans. :|

Hope nobody takes offense to that, I didn't mean it to be obnoxious.

Viva La Vida is better than Parachutes and X&Y. AROBTTH is still untouched though.

VLV is shite

and REN you're in love with ratfaced matt D:

I'm with Ivet on this.

It's a very good album showing the band are ready to go down some different sounds. Better than In Rainbows which is actually the highest selling album around the Beachy Head region of East Sussex.

I'm a huge radiohead fan and i've been one for almost 15 years but even though i'm a rh fan, i can admit that what you're saying it's true . There are some pretentious radiohead fans out there who are so fucking narrow-minded that you want to punch them in the face but fortunately not all of them are like that.

I started listening to rh cos i listened to creep on the radio and i loved it so i got the pablo honey album, it's not a bad album ( I especially loved blow out) then when the bends was released i was really addicted but when ok computer came out years later ,i was in heaven. Around that time i heard that Thom was getting into electronic music and that he might include some of that in their new album ( kid a) but i had no idea they were gonna change their music style so much and i'll be honest, the first time i got to listen to kid a i was like : "what the fuck is this shit?" . I was way too used to their old style and i missed the guitar riffs and yeah i was disappointed. It took me a while to get used to that album ( i hadn't listened many experimental/electro music before so you can imagine) and eventually and after million of listens ,it grew on me.

Now what i saw is that there was this wave of new radiohead fans who got into them thanks to kid a and who adore anything they do from kid a but absolutely hate the first 3 albums and that's just stupid. Ok computer was a masterpiece in my opinion and one of the best albums of the 90's and kid a is probably one of the best albums of the last decade ( yeah, i hated it at first but once you're used to their new style, you'll see how amazing that album really is).

I remember i joined atease years ago and fuck man, the place was filled with elitist and pretentious ****s. The same way people mock cp fangirls here ,i could easily mock rh fangirls there cos it was basically the same reaction from them, except they added tons of sarcasm and tried to be smartasses but they were fangirls/boys nonetheless. Not all of them are like that though and i made a few friends there but i know what you mean when you say that rh fans are pretentious. Some are, and i know some people dislike radiohead and don't even want to listen to their music because they're annoyed by those pretentious fans and i even stopped listening to rh for a few months because their hardcore fans annoyed me ( not only on atease but friends irl ).

One silly reason i heard from someone for not liking rh was that they're ugly and thom has a lazy eye..i mean, what the fuck?

Anyway, one advise i can give you is that you should listen to their music only, fuck their pretentious fans ( if you come across any of them that is ) , fuck their looks ( that has nothing to do with their talent and music) and just listen to their albums and try to give them a chance.

FUCK I can't stand people that hate bands just because they don't have a model for a front man or whatever. It's extremely disappointing to pass up someone's talent or personality just because of how they look. I'd think most people (especially the portion of Coldplayers in that category) are better than that.

I think that you should like a band mostly for their music...

A+, people like that annoy me to no end tbh

Uhm, In Rainbows >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> VLV

Even I agree with that. :uhoh:

As far as your first point is concerned, is there anything wrong with thinking Radiohead is the best band that ever lived? There are plenty of people on here who think Coldplay is the best band that ever lived, do they bother you too? Pretty weak argument there. Other than that, the other two arguments could be applied to any band. Every band has its pretentious followers, not just Radiohead.

No, I didn't mean it like that. . . what I meant is more when a fan only knows Radiohead's music and isn't open minded enough to recognize that there's other good music out there. Like, a Radiohead-is-best attitude but making that assumption without knowing much other music. Sorry if that was unclear. :anxious:

I don't have a problem if someone honestly thinks that RH or Coldplay are the best bands that ever lived, but I don't agree with that if that's their opinion after only listening to one or two bands. A lot of WoM people could say that and I wouldn't have a problem with it, as I realize that they know a lot of other music to compare it to.

As to the second part of your reply, I know that, I was just saying what annoyed me. It happens to be on a Radiohead thread, and we were talking about how some people don't like the band because of the fans. So then I replied with what some fans' mindsets were that I thought were annoying.

In Rainbows is the most boring dirge I have ever listened to. Viva La Vida at least has a bit of oomph to it. Both are imperfect but I'd take VLV anyday.

People like Josh42 really do kid themselves into thinking it's something great. No offence mate but it's fans like you who think you can laugh at other people's taste which gives Radiohead fans the tag of 'pretentious' morons. And a great deal are. More so than any other band.

no, you're dumb. shut up.

I mean if you compared a great album like Parachutes to In Rainbows, there could be a debate, but VLV? :blank:

no, you're dumb. shut up.

My point exactly.

Parachutes is not a great album. AROBTTH is but Parachutes isn't.

Enough said.

WTF? I'm talking about Coldplay on a Coldplay forum

AROBTTH is so overrated.

Nope totally disagree. One of the best albums of the last decade. It is a masterpiece. Particularly this.
