How far would you travel for a concert?

Featured Replies

I'm not talking about "special occasion" concerts, like taking a vacation to England to go to Glastonbury. I'm just talking about "regular" concerts.

It occurred to me that I'm a bit lucky/spoiled in the sense that I live only 5 miles from the State's most commonly used indoor venue and 10 miles from the most commonly used outdoor venue. So distance never really factors in my decision to attend a concert.

So, how far are you willing to travel for a concert?

I would go anywhere in the US if: I wasn't a teenager and knew how to drive. :blank:

And probably ONLY if it was like the final gig of my favorite band's career or something huge like that.

Well, Newark's between 20 and 50 miles away, so I'm very willing to drive there . . . I suppose I would go to east Jersey to get to Giants Stadium, Izod Center, etc, but then the question would be whether or not my parents would be willing to drive me. :P

So anywhere between 20 and 50 miles. :nice:

But over 50 miles if there's no possible way to see the band within NJ.

I usually have to travel from NH to MA, so the farthest I've gone is about 4 hours ( I'm fairly sure that's over 100 miles).

So yeah I'd go just about anywhere, depending on the band of course.

I would travel anywhere for Adam Young. :dazzled:

But other than that, I probably wouldn't go more than like an hour away. :|

I would walk 500 miles

I made a round trip from Manchester to Barcelona back in 2005 to see Coldplay...

now I live here.. so I will be making trips back to the UK if I choose to see the odd gig or festival now and again !

I would vote, but I can only measure distance with time. :|

I would walk 500 miles

:awesome:

last year I traveled to argentina around 1600 kilometres to see coldplay. (995 miles)

I almost did the same for Paul McCratney but didnt get tickets. I'd go to other places too, I want to go to rock in rio to see coldplay but I don't think I'll go because of the bad timing.

I want to go to the US for a concert someday, I'd go to other countries if needed but now I'm just a student without money so Argentina is the only place I'd go to for a concert

Seabear isn't coming anywhere close to where I live. I really want to save up and see them this year. So if I can afford it, I might fly across the country to see them. Probably won't have enough money.

Lovin' the notation in the poll :P

Unless it was a band I super loved, I'd draw the line around 25-50 miles. Not that I can like drive. O well.

The nearest large city is 150 miles away from me, so if I wanted to go to any concert, I'd have to travel at least that far. :/

Same, too young.

My parents won't take me out of the city.

But if I could drive/etc, then I'd go anywhere really.. and if I had the money.

It all depends, the band, money, time.

I would go anywhere...if i had the money/time and was old enough..but in reality, probably just anywhere within reasonable driving distances

I've been only to one big concert, and it's like 400 miles from my hometown.

Once from Chicago to LA (CP) and once Chicago to Toronto (Matt good). Not often I go too far, but definitely a fun excuse for a trip!

Wow, you're a lucky one.

The only legit concert I've been to ("legit" meaning a classical music oriented concert that didn't take place at my university and that I actually travelled to go see) was in Richardson, around Dallas, and that's about 3 hours away from here. It wasn't a rock concert, so I'm not sure if that really counts, but it was still arguably the best day of my life. :awesome:

Wow, Lore. That's intense. :stunned:

Yeah, we're both in the same situation on that.

Wait, you're Texan. Are you closest to Houston, Dallas, or Austin?

well London is about 50 miles away, and that's where Wembley stadium and stuff is so...

about 50 miles.
