Tnspieler1012
just noticed this thread. No, Jonny's best guitar is his earliest guitar. His riffs in the AROBTTH were very simple and u2ish. Moses is about the best I can think of from that time. But his earlier arrangements are more detailed, complex and interesting. Shiver, Spies and High Speed are the best album examples from LPs, and the latter two were released in some form before parachutes. fakfak
Judging by these latest live performances, Jonny does indeed shine. He really does let it rip doesnt he,QUOTE] Yes, even on the the older songs. Personally, I think the fact that he's primarily playing strats now helps a lot, as the single coil tone is sharper and more suited to strong solos/leads. and cuts through the mix better even when his prt isn't that prominent. They may be simple and effective but technically he has definitely gone up a few gears with these new songs. His work on Hurts Like Heaven sounds very John Squire (one of Johnny's heroes of course) like and it sounds like he's really moved nearer the front but at the same time is still the effective sideman guitar player that he is. When I talk about "sideman" guitarists I talk about those who contribute to the development of the song and don't hog the limelight with a non sensicle guitar solo. Likes of Edge, Johnny Marr are the best at that in my opinion. Pretty sure Edge mentioned that those sort are the best ones and they certainly are. JB has become much more obvious and effective with these new live songs at his guitar work and while it may not be as discreet and sensitive as his earlier work it's just as good if not better. I didn't know Bieber played guitar. :wink3:
