No Cars Go - Arcade Fire

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2sy2WfhHaU]YouTube - Arcade Fire - No Cars Go - 2005/08/25[/ame]

It still gives me goosebumps to this day.

The chanting and just letting go makes it special for me.

So glad I finally saw it in person at the end of last year, when I went crazy! :)

WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT FOR ME? :bigcry:

Anyways, I decided to go with Muse's Citizen Erased.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiHUKVoYbdc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiHUKVoYbdc[/ame]

It's just a really beautiful song, with a lot of emotion. It's angry, sad, serious, hopeful, etc.

Also, when I saw Muse live in October (which was my first concert ever), they played it. :blush: Which may not be too amazing with another band, but Muse rarely changes setlists. And CE is considered a very rare song to hear live, so I was crying and screaming through the whole thing. :heart:

Also, this song is just beastly awesome live. :wacky: The best part about the show I was at was that they kind of sneaked it in after Nishe (very slow bass, piano, drum song with no singing), so the whole audience was expecting United States of Eurasia (piano + drum strong song), and all of a sudden we saw Matt with his 7-string Manson, and the ENTIRE Prudential Center went crazy. We were all like FUCKING HELL, IT'S THE 7-STRING MANSON!!! OH MY GOD IT'S CITIZEN ERASED!!! pope.gif

Most of the people knew the words, were singing along, moshing, jumping, etc. :D My best memory from the whole night.

'tis my video, but I love it because despite my fangirl screaming and singing, I caught the whole Nishe--->Citizen Erased thing. :awesome:

Anyways, this song holds a special place in my heart because of my live experience. :heart:

I remember the first time I heard the album Parachutes. I thought that it was a amazing album, and I loved it right away. Since I first heard it, it has been my favorite album of all time, and my favorite Coldplay song Shiver is in it, which makes me love it even more.

It is such a perfect song.

U2 - Until The End of the World

While current favourites are always changing, U2 is the band I really got into in Jr. High and have never really grown tired of. If I had to pick a favourite U2 song it would have to be Until the End of the World from Achtung Baby. Love the lyrics, love the Edge’s guitar solo, love the way Bono delivers this Judasesque song.

A personal highlight was my first U2 song when they played this song in Boston. It was only the second time they had played it all Vertigo tour up to that point so it was a complete surprise to me. I just remember hearing the opening guitar squeal and then being airborne jumping up and down while the song started. A powerful moment for sure.

YouTube - Muse - Butterflies and Hurricanes (Video)[/url]

It's amazing and the lyrics are inspirational. It's perfect.

Kelly! We have the same favorite song! :awesome:

Since it's obvious what my choice is, I guess I'll go into detail as to why "Butterflies and Hurricanes" is my favorite song ever.

To keep a long story short, Muse were what got me through the toughest part of my life. Muse in themselves are a special band to me. This song in particular, though... It's extra special. When I first bought "Absolution," it blew me out of the water; at that time, I'd never heard anything like them. "Butterflies and Hurricanes" was the song I always put on when I started to get back to that low point, and the chorus was just what I needed to hear at the time. Like Kelly said, the lyrics are really inspiring. :heart:

My favorite... at the moment, at least. Ever since I first heard it a few weeks ago, I can't stop listening to it. I'm not getting sick of it at all, and I don't foresee that happening anytime soon. :|

However, if my love of it fades at all, I would fall back on my "default" fave

This is so hard, but I'd say this one because it's my favorite song of my favorite band

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_XG_YlTPPQ]YouTube - The Beatles - Something HD[/ame]

It's such a perfect love song, and it was written by George, my favorite Beatle :heart: The lyrics are so simple and so beautiful at the same time.

First of all before I state my favorite song, I want to say that the process of picking a favorite song of all time is impossible for me, and although I may post this one, there are probably at least 10-15 other songs that could take this spot. Also initially I was going to pick The Beatles Abbey Road Medley (Because-Her Majesty), however it isn't of course a single song but 10 songs, yet they are strung together so well and flawlessly that I can only listen to it in full.

Anyway without further adieu my favorite song...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWWJx4gpfMg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWWJx4gpfMg[/ame]

one of the many demos of the song:

Of all The Beatles songs that are out there it may seem like quite a strange choice to pick this one, not only because it's not nearly one of their more popular of well known songs, and also the song itself was recorded in a span of about 15 years. John Lennon initially recorded this song with just a piano track, vocals and a tambourine metronome in 1980. However Lennon died that year and the song was lost. But in the early 90's for the Beatles Anthology project McCartney approached Yoko to see if she had any demos that the rest of the band could use. So this was one of the songs she gave. It was recorded in 1995 and released in 96.

Now the reason why I chose this song is not because of the quality. Yes the instruments sound good, but the vocals are kind of hidden and hard to hear, which is no surprise considering it was recorded as a home demo. Personally I think it is one of the best written songs I have heard. The chords that he has in it are very catchy but at times extremely haunting especially when the intro piano bit comes in. The harmonies themselves are really great especially at one point that they sound so good it gives me chills (3:19). This song pretty much has most of what you need from any Beatles song, a good chord progression, great melody, background harmonies, and also of course the other members backing up. I wish that I could write a song like this because I think it's brilliant.

The song itself sort of reminds me of my childhood because I remember that one and Free As a Bird being songs I heard, but it wasn't until a few years later I found out how new they were compared to their other catalog. Also at the same time the song makes me sad knowing that Lennon never got to work on these songs, and I guess for other personal reasons too. Overall it's a song I have listened to so much and never get sick of.

Also here are some honorable mentions that had the possibility to be my favorite:

#9 Dream-John Lennon

Let Down-Radiohead

Broken Drum-Beck

Echoes-Pink Floyd

Nude-Radiohead

I Want You (She's So Heavy)-The Beatles

How to Disappear Completely-Radiohead

Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey-Paul McCartney

Great choice Briggins! For me it was a really tough choice. Lovers In Japan, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, New Years Day were just some of the songs that went through my head.

But I settled on The Unforgettable Fire by U2. The song defines that album perfectly. I love the lyrics, the mystery, the atmosphere of it. It's beautiful and takes me to an unrivalled feeling of spirituality! I just love it.

As I sure everyone else is finding, the choice is extremely hard, how can you have a favourite song amongst everything that you listen to? In the end I ended up choosing though.

I find tunnels to be such an emotionally moving song. Definitely in my top ten of all time, if not my absolute favourite.
