Great choice Briggins! For me it was a really tough choice. Lovers In Japan, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, New Years Day were just some of the songs that went through my head.

But I settled on The Unforgettable Fire by U2. The song defines that album perfectly. I love the lyrics, the mystery, the atmosphere of it. It's beautiful and takes me to an unrivalled feeling of spirituality! I just love it.

Sorry I can't post a vid yet as I'm on my iPod.

Excellent choice for you as well! I was so surprised to hear it live on the 360 tour. I made an effort to not do any setlist watching leading up to that show (unlike on the Vertigo tour where I followed every show).

Great song from a great album.

Great song from a great album.

It was so delightful seeing them play The Unforgettable Fire again. Not enough songs from that album are played live! For me I honestly think it's better than The Joshua Tree and with Achtung Baby competes for their greatest album in my opinion!

I can't choose one favourite song

there are so many songs I know that are awesome or that are awesome and remind me of something or someone....that make me feel something I can't describe....well one song tat comes to my mind immediately and that combines all the things that qualify a song to become my fav song is the live version of "Moonlight Drive" by the Doors that's why I am choosing it

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4fIKVg9wIw]YouTube - The Doors-Moonlight Drive live (Horse Latitudes)[/ame]

Krieger's slide guitar combined with the organ and Jim's voice and the drums and ahh...I can't describe it....all the musical elements get so intense at some point (sometimes together and sometimes just a single instrument or Jim's singing)....I've been walking home so often to this song after parties when I was drunk or tipsy.....it was dark I looked up in the sky and while I was listening to this song and it felt so intense I can't describe it...everytime I listen to it I choose something I concentrate on .....one time the guitar the other time Jim's voice....well yeah I love it:heart:

iPsy and I have the same song choice, so I'll choose my alternative.

Operator (That's not the way it feels) By Jim Croce

It's old, but it brings back so many car trip memories when I was young, and we ONLY listened to what my dad liked and he was a huge fan of Jim Croce, and us kids liked him because he was better then Elvis and Bread. ;)

This is no easy feat, but I think Under Control could be my favorite song of all time. Something about it just really gets me. And it always sounds excellent live.

not an easy choice. but i'm feel pretty confident about this song.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbhsYC4gKy4]YouTube - Pearl Jam Alive[/ame]

why? the opening riff is just killer. the 2min solo is incredible and even more so when the crowd chants along with it. the story behind the song is very disturbing, riddled with incest and confusion but eddie accepts that the songs meaning has been changed by their fans into a song about hope and empowerment. and i guess i just freken love it! i'm a ilttle sad that they didn't play it when i saw them live but i'm over that.

Oh all right, because anything else would be a lie,

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KkWGy7W3_o]YouTube - Coldplay - Clocks[/ame]

And because many years and hundreds if not thousands of listens later it can still make my stomach bottom out and give me goosebumps if I hear it unexpectedly.

And because the first time I heard it kicked off a long and twisting series of events that changed my tastes, my world view, and eventually my life.

(Strange thing is, among Coldplay songs, Shiver is my favorite.)

Runners up, because really if Clocks wasn't such a sentimental favorite this would have been an impossible choice:

Arcade Fire - Wake Up

The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun

Joy Division/New Order - Ceremony

Radiohead - Reckoner

The Verve - Lucky Man

It used to be Weird Fishes/Arpeggi but it has changed.

A collaboration from the two best electronic musicians around at the moment. I can't explain it. It's just so incredible.

When I saw Four Tet this year he played it. So amazing. Got to tell him it was my favourite song ever and he seemed pleased about that. GHFHG

^ :wreck:

:disappointed:

No offense, Briggs. :tongue:

I had a few options I could go with. I thought about posting "Friday," but there are already 23492710 threads on that song, and I'm not going to put this thread in that direction. On Facebook, I went with "Whip My Hair" by Willow Smith. I'm not using that one, though; I have a different song.

Not only do I hate this song with a passion, I'm also forced to listen to this. My brother plays this song on the way home obnoxiously loud on a daily basis, which makes me hate it even more than I normally would. It also doesn't help that it's a parody of a song that I hate in its original format. :|
