^When my mainstream friends started liking them I knew something was wrong.

Not that I have a problem with mainstream success (look at Metric for example). What i have a problem with is when bands kind of sell out and lose their magic. When they change their style to appease the masses.

Few songs on the planet annoy me quite as much as Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl". There's something about her voice in that particular song that's worse than fingernails on a chalkboard for me.
