August 8, 201114 yr I was one of the boat trip contest winners, and took my sister with me. After we got off of the boat we decided to join a group of coldplayers who were trying to find the Christmas Lights video shoot location.When we finally found it we stood out in the cold all night and got to meet Chris,Phil, and some other Coldplay people! :lol: I still can't feel all of the toes on my right foot, but it was worth it. It was the best night of my life getting to hang out with Chris and Phil at the video shoot! lol Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!! You're so lucky!
August 8, 201114 yr Back into the real world after Lollapalooza. What a show Coldplay turned in on Friday night! But first I must tell you what a wonderful experience it was meeting so many other Coldplayers. Several of us gathered for breakfast and then wandered up to the festival gates, where we were treated to a listen as Coldplay ran through their soundcheck! A few minutes later we were admitted and made the 500-yard dash to the barrier where we set up camp for the rest of the day. Was it worth nine hours in the sun, getting shoved around by some stoners, and minimal bathroom breaks? Absolutely. The guys were on fire and so was the crowd. Chris actually got a little emotional at the end of "Viva La Vida" as we kept the "Woh -oh -ohs" going. Guy was totally relaxed and smiling through most of the gig, and our little group up front made eye contact with him and with Chris at several points during the evening. Jonny completely tore up the guitar solo during GPASUYF - what a master at what he does! (Chris broke a string during that song and threw his guitar off to the side of the stage; Hoppy immediately provided him with another. And there, in the middle of a song, in the middle of singing, Chris said "Thanks" to his roadie.) Unfortunately I couldn't see Will much during the show since the stage was high and he was back a bit. I could only see him as he banged the bell during Viva and during "Us Against The World" which was performed directly in front of us. As one of our group said later, I was proud to be part of this crowd and the guys really appreciated us. "We care about each and every one of you," Chris said, and I believe him. They gave us their all on Friday night and we gave back. It doesn't get better than that. Thanks to all the Coldplayers who shared the day with me on Friday. And thanks to Coldplay, the best band in the whole world.

Totally with you on the stage effects! The flaming/running/walking man is awesome live, and having those lasers beaming over your head is a mind-blowing experience. And one thing I forgot to mention was how outstanding it was to accomplish something on my personal bucket list: Being up front in the middle of a like minded crowd while participating in a good old "In My Place" YEAH!!!

August 8, 201114 yr ok so here's my story, flew into Chicago Fri am, Angie met me at the airport went and had breakfast, after my 5 cups of coffee i was like ok lets go lets go lets goooooooo! We got to the park about 1 and and Young the Giant was on the Bud light stage and it was frickin packed and it was soooo hot so we were like ,ok we are never going to make it to the front and last 8 hours in the sun with no food or water or potty, so lets just hang and see what happens. so i went to get us some water and what do i see but a lonely little folding chair all by his lonesome, so i charmed the bud beer guy and somehow got him to let me have it and im telling you it saved our asses. We hang out for a while in the shade and then decided to walk around, folding chair in hand, got a few looks but who cares, so Young ends and it was like the Red Sea parting, everyone ran off to the next show so i look at Angie and she knows what I'm thinking, We go for a proper spot. The Pit was broken up in two sections, the front pit, then barrier with space for security ( i actually thought Chris might take a little run around) so we were able to get the front of the 2nd pit barrier, where the air still hit you and you had something to lean on, so we were in it till the end. loved all the bands that played the stage, Grace Potter was awesome, she like a mixture of Tina turner, Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crowe. finally Bright Eyes comes on and we know were almost there, They were Awesome!!! Oh Mike and Steph were able to find us somehow, we got them nudged in the barrier with us,but we had no connection to internet with phones so no tweets or posts and we were unable to find Kelly :P , the front pit had just about exploded and we would have been trampled on if we had gone there, our position was perfect, dead on center leaning a bit towards the Jonny Side bout 20 peeps back but the pit had a slight hill so our viewing was awesome . 99 Problems comes on and the crowd goes nuts. Mike said his fingers were shaking and I said my legs were shaking but that b/c i was prob from dehydation and heat The city skyline was beautiful and the boys came on, Set list already posted, They sounded incredible, Ive seen them about 8 times and much closer but this show was stellar, their voices were fresh and lovely! they had so much energy and were truly enjoying the performance. Will was the star, he sang his heart out and everyone noticed how great he was and how much more he is moving himself up from the back! Lot's of Will love that night. Jonny was of course his fantasmic self, ripping those riffs up and his playing was perfection, Chris was having a blast, not so spastic, more controlled more mature, truly looked so comfortable up there, it was hot out so lots of sweat rolling. Guy was getting into it, took off his jacket and smiled more than i have seen him smile. They did mulit colored balloons ) but they seemed a bit too much kept interrupting The Scientist, or i think it was the scientist, sorry im a blur, which came right after. Im prob wrong. The crowd went nuts for Shiver of course and i had to hold back my tears for Everythings not lost, It was such a moment to hear those songs live, i truly love the old songs so it was a big moment for me. I think my fav song of the night was Charlie Brown, God damn that song is sooo good, my vid is horrendous, i could not stop jumping and dancing but the audio is pretty good. My other vid is for God Put a Smile, this version is fanfuckingtastic, I love how they keep reinventng it, they were so cute all huddled together, building up to the explosion, Chris kept looking back at the crowd and smiling, god it was incredible. I know i dont have the set list right, im just writting as i remember things. oh the fireworks!!! never seen fireworks at CP show before so i was quite giddy from that of course an hour and a half goes by so quickly when they play but the high i get from seeing them lasts for days. August 9, 201114 yr Listening to the kills, is reminding me of how stressed I was about trying to get closer to coldplay. But I wish I was there all stressed out and sweaty again :lol: It was such torture all the way up to coldplay playing. Im so glad I made it and didn't pass out! And that my legs held up. It still surprises me that day was the longest day ever! I had been awake since thursday only got 4hrs of sleep on the plane. I managed to not feel tired until bed at 2am. Then slept and woke up at 11am :P I survived dehydration and heat exhaustion! My cousins told me wow you are hard core. I was pretty impressed with myself, I am pretty hard core when it comes to coldplay :smug:

August 10, 201114 yr Just got home from Chicago last night and Lollapalooza was one of my unforgettable experiences of my life! Me and my best friend arrived at the gate on Friday at 10 AM, we had breakfast with a few coldplayers and met even more at the gate, i'd say there was about 12-15 of us that met. Once gates opened we scanned our tickets and ran like hell to the bud light stage. We were pretty much in the center of the second row. All the bands were really good and when the Kills came on that's when things started getting a bit crazy. There was a mosh pit going on and these girls knocked me out of the way to be in the second row and I got pushed to the right and in the 4th row. I seriously almost fell if it wasn't for the girl in front of me holding my hand so I didn't fall, that honestly was quite scary. We got separated from most of the coldplayers :( but I managed to still be next to geekchic, jillyblue and my best friend. After Bright Eyes was done, those girls left and we were able to be in the second row on Guy's side. The crowd was actually pretty calm during Coldplay; lots of jumping, singing along and everyone was just so happy. I've seen Coldplay 9 times and this was by far the best show I have ever witnessed from them and you could tell how happy they were by the huge smiles on their faces. Finally hearing the new songs live was amazing and I can't believe I finally heard Shiver live; my favorite Coldplay song! Waiting to see them for 12 hours in the humidity and at times I thought I couldn't make it anymore, made it all worthwhile when they came on stage. I was reminded why they are my favorite band and I felt honored to be apart of this amazing show. The crowd was awesome and everyone was singing along, the boys looks so happy and had smiles on their faces throughout the whole show (especially Guy!) just the energy from the band and everyone from the crowd was amazing. August 10, 201114 yr haha yea the kills got people crazy. after they played and i moved up, i was sitting down waiting for bright eyes and some guy that sat next to me asked if i minded if he smoked. and i told him i did mind :P and he asks "do you mind weed or just cigarettes or both?" i was like "um both" and he turned around all mad and told his friends stuff about me, eventhough i could hear him cuz he was right next to me! hahahaha so i told my sis stuff about him in spanish! :smug: but hey he actually didnt smoke :P (had to share my story :P) glad you still had a great time. The energy really was amazing though. the crowd was so into it and that made coldplay really enjoy it. the entire thing was EPIC. :heart: all ive been doing today is watching youtube videos all day trying to relive that day. but they dont do it justice. im going through post-coldplay-concert depression. and its pretty bad :P i wanna cry cuz i wish it was friday again!!! my videos kinda suck. i recorded a lot of the show, but i didnt care how well i recorded cuz i wanted to enjoy the show, so a lot of times i record people's heads, and it moves a lot cuz i was dancing and jumping. but im still glad i recorded :D and the sound is great too!

August 10, 201114 yr I never got butterflies in my stomach as much as when the crowd was gunning the Viva chant as loud as possible. On the plane ride home my throat was hella sore. What an AWESOME concert that was! I'm definitely catching them again, and soon!
