[5-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Lollapalooza Festival, Chicago

Featured Replies

What an amazing show. Totally worth all the traveling shit I went through (my bus on friday was delayed 6 hours so I didn't get there until Bright Eyes and 2 of my flights home on monday were cancelled so I slept overnight at the airport). Best energy I've ever seen at a concert and Coldplay fans are so much nicer than eminem and foo fighter fans. I was about 10 rows back a little to the left in front of johnny and had a great view.

Also, did he dedicate it to bt or was it gp?

This is pretty cool to watch the concert except they're missing some songs.

I never got butterflies in my stomach as much as when the crowd was gunning the Viva chant as loud as possible. On the plane ride home my throat was hella sore. What an AWESOME concert that was! I'm definitely catching them again, and soon!

I know right! We started chanting right away and it was awesome. My throat was sore too, but just that night. Haha I couldn't talk well right after :P yea im totally hooked on the emotions I felt that show. And I want to see them again SOON! I wanna jump to charlie brown again!

Oh and I still get chills when I see the viva la vida performance on youtube!

So glad everyone that went had a great time and so envious of all of you too! :P I finally watched the whole show the other night and it was just awesome. The opening shot with the skyline of Chicago in the background made me smile. My first proper CP show was in that great city three years ago (was it really three years ago?? :stunned:) and I'll always remember seeing them there.

Thanks for sharing all the stories, vids, and pics

the video for the full stream is gone! :(

i want it back. anyone know where i can see it online. i wanted to show my friend the entire show :\

That would be my video. EMI filed a copyright suit on my channel and may want "damages fine"

Check out http://www.coldplaybootlegs.com for the video. You can find most of the orgasmic video you see of them on YouTube over there. If you have any troubles don't hesitate to PM me.

Who would have thought my initial post several months ago would come true and we would see our favorite band in front of 50,000+.. had tons of fun with Angie and Christa at the show (thanks for holding my spot with a chair gals)

I saw the boys land at midway airport the night before with my two non coldplay fanatic friends. It was my first time ever going to see them off the stage. I couldnt pass up the opportunity. Pulled up next to their brigade on the road and got Chris to look up and that was about it. They all looked exhausted, rightfully so. Maybe if I'm with some fan girls next time it will go better:laugh3:

The show was good. Not too close not too far but our spot made the lightshow looked phenomenal. Way different from being front row. I felt Chris talked less and was a little less a enthusiastic about the show as a whole from previous times seeing them in chi town but that's what you can expect when they are cramming a festival tour and finishing an album all at once. Looking forward to tour time and meeting more of y'all :)

Don't get me wrong, it was AWESOME but I've seen some pretty unbelievable coldplay shows. Filming of Lost! music video and Alpine valley where Chris came out and had a speech about how it was the best crowd of their viva tour etc. The Lolla crowd was fantastic, you guys in front did us other coldplayers good :)

I know! How did 3 years slip past? I'd go back just to visit the city but seeing the boys there is a definite bonus :D

It's such a great city, Christa. Wish I'd been there with you guys too!

:o I live like 15 minutes from Midway airport. Dammit. My stalking skills need to be better. (Just kidding)

Ok yea, I see your point. I've only been to one other coldplay concert and it wasn't that great, I mean as in energy -wise cuz I of course enjoyed the show. So that's maybe why I just think lolla was the best thing ever :P

I was so happy that the crowd there at Lolla was that energetic, it made the show so much better :)

I wish I had been in the front front though. I was on the guy's side of the field, next to the side barrier. But I wasn't right up front I wasn't too far though. I could see chris :)

That's around where I was!

This is kind of the view I ended up getting. This was earlier in the day though, before the kills and all that. So I ended up a little farther back. I forgot I took this pic though :P

Were u around there 66 or on the other side of the barrier?

It doesn't seem like you were that far away from us then!! Just on the other side of the barrier!
