Hello Debs.

Thank you for accepting this interview and to give us some of your time.

1) Could you introduce yourself to the few Coldplay's fans who wouldn't know who you are?

Hi, I’m Debs and I guess you could call me the link between band and fans.

2) How long have you been working with Coldplay?

The idea of me working with the band came about almost ten years ago. Late Summer 2001 the seed was planted and I eventually started in December that year.

3) How did you meet the band, and how did it happen?

I first saw the band in September 1998 playing a tiny venue in Manchester. I was scouting for a major record label & fell in love with them instantly. I called Phil the next day and we all met face to face in London a few weeks later near where they lived as students in the Lord Stanley Pub, Camden.

4) What does you job consist on?

For the most part I read/reply to emails, fanmail, queries etc. that come in to/for the band. When I first started I was supposed to be involved with the fan club but it was decided to close it and replace it with a monthly newsletter that I would put together. Before long I was the editor of the website and ran it for about 5 years. I am still involved in the website but thankfully the pressure of running it has gone and since I had no journalistic qualifications whatsoever, am amazed I lasted as long!

5) You must be very close to the group, aren't you?

Yes, we have a great relationship collectively and individually. They’re obviously super famous now but when we met they were students and they’ll always be the same to me.

6) From which of the guys in the band would you say you are the closer?

That’s a hard question because I have had real heart to hearts with each of them and also laughed ‘til my sides hurt with each. I guess I have spent the most time with Jonny but not by much. I feel I could tell them anything and feel there’s mutual protection.

7) I think I'm not the only one wondering this, but is it possible to know how do you manage the site in matter of design? Because everytime there's a new style as astonishing as the previous one .

Who decides that it has to be changed or altered? Who does it? Can we expect a new design for the release for the album to come?

A few years ago a few of us researched various design companies who designed band websites to see which ones we liked. My favourite ended up being the company we went with. They are the brilliant Slender Fungus based in L.A. Team Coldplay (that starts from all 5 members, manager, me, and a few other key website people you will have heard of) come up with ideas and suggestions and we get to try them out to see how they look and work. The design is usually changed around the end of an album campaign or start of a new one. The last design changed is very much in keeping with the new material and has been tweaked a few times to keep it fresh and interesting. The band often come up with new things they want to do and in time develop it, for example, the hypnofeed was originally a ticker banner at the top of the site but now is front page centre stage.

8) Is the band giving some ideas for the design and the content of the website?

They are involved in every single detail of their career; not just the music. This includes artwork, styling, clothes and the website.

9) We know you're always on tour with Coldplay, what is for you the best Coldplay's concert you've ever been to?

Ah actually I don’t tour with the band. I have been very lucky to have been to Vegas, Coachella, New York, Paris & Brussels for short trips for a couple of shows and the entire Latin America tour but my job doesn’t require me to be on the road which is fine by me!

There have been so many shows that stand out for various reasons but quite frankly after last night’s Family & Friends gig, that’s currently my favourite.

10) According to Chris, the Parc des Princes' concert would have been the best during the Viva La Vida tour, any comments?

I actually went to both the Bercy shows in September 2008 so I don’t know if Parc des Princes was better. It might have been too light for me!

11) How do you feel about the French Coldplay's fan?

I think Coldplay fans are the best and French fans are no different. Upon leaving the Metro for the second night’s Bercy show, I saw a woman with a sign looking for tickets. Basically a couple that were celebrating their anniversary had got a babysitter both nights just in case they got lucky. It just so happened I had 2 spares. I sat with them and they were such lovely people.

12) Did you know ColdplayCorner before this interview and what do you think about it?

Yes, I try to know about most fansites. I think it’s incredible that there are such loyal fans willing to put so much time & effort into their passion for the band.

13) Any ideas if Coldplay knew about ColdplayCorner.com?

Again, I would say they take an interest in such things but they don’t really have any spare time these days so I’m not sure they get to browse any fansites.

14) Finally, something we ask during each interview, could you give us some words in French? And some words for the staff of ColdplayCorner.com ?

Bien sur! Merci mille fois à chaque personne qui aider avec votre website. Je pense c’est beaucoup de travail et plus longtemps.

15) Thank you so much for according us this interview Debs, it was a real honor for me to ask you these questions.

You are very welcome, it’s an honour to be asked.
