Abracadabra
^I don't think so, esp if they have to repeat the word "world." Here's my take on the entire song: Oh morning come bursting, the clouds they mend, Lift off this blindfold and let me see again, Bring back the water that your ships rode in, In my heart, you left a hole. The tightrope that I'm walking sways and ties, The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes, I just want to be there when the lightning strikes, And the saints go marching in. Sing slow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-it-down... Through chaos as it swirls, It's us against the world. Like a river to a raindrop, I lost a friend, My drunken head's a Daniel in a lion's den, And tonight I know it all has to begin again, So whatever you do, don't let go, And if we could just float away, Fly up to the surface and just start again, And lift off before trouble erodes in the rain, Just erodes in the rain, just erodes in the rain... ...the rest is self explanatory. :p From their very first performance of this song you can hear Chris saying tires or something very like it. 'Ties' is a bit short for the word he pronounces. Now, I haven't listened to it performed at other gigs,so I can't say this is absoultely true. MosesTheMarshmallow
Amendments.... ^You're right about the weirdness of the word "ties" or whatever it is. I'll check that out....until then here's what I believe to be the correct version: ^I don't think so, esp if they have to repeat the word "world." OnlookerDelay
bring back the water that your ships roll in... I hear "bring back the water let your ships roll in"... while both options work, I think "let" fits the logical context of the verse a little better. "That" implies that the ships roll the water in, whereas "let" implies that the water has to be present to let the ships roll in.
Cyan Kat
I'm positive that he sings 'I'm drunken as a devil in a lion's den', and I'm sure he sings 'Erodes' but I'm not too sure about that one.

prjio307
Oh morning come bursting, the clouds they mend, Lift off this blindfold, let me see again, And bring back the water, let your ships roll in. In my heart you left a hole. The tightrope that I'm walking just sways in tides, The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes, And I just want to be there when the lightning strikes, And the saints go marching in. And sing slow it down... Through chaos as it swirls, It's us against the world. MosesTheMarshmallow
It's, "My drunken head's a Daniel in a lion's den." as I hear it. The "roses" line I know what you're looking for, but I don't think the way you have it is right grammatically.
JackZ
Its definitely "Oh morning come bursting the clouds. Amen." And definitely the Daniel in a lions den line. And I think it's "And lift off before trouble just erodes us in the rain, just erodes us in the rain, just erodes us, just see roses in the rain." Oh, and definitely "Bring back the water that your ships rode (or rowed) in."
the yellow of ur life
Its deffinately "My drunken has a daniel in a lions den" dont know what means ( maybe jack daniels) but you can hear it better in this version. at about 1:30 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZINRZelbIc&feature=player_detailpage]Coldplay-Us Against the World @ iTunes Festival 2011 - YouTube[/ame]
hente44
"Daniel in a lion's den" is from a biblical story where Daniel was in a lion's den.. Written on the forum before.
JackZ
Its deffinately "My drunken has a daniel in a lions den" Yeah, but that doesn't make sense. So, it must be, "My drunk head is a Daniel in a lion's den." Or something like that...
prjio307
Yeah, but that doesn't make sense. So, it must be, "My drunk head is a Daniel in a lion's den." Or something like that... It doesn't make sense but it absolutely 100% positively is what they are saying.

Watch to the video posted on the previous page. As for the "roses" line, I'm not 100% on that one but that's what I hear. It makes sense grammatically so I don't know what you mean by that comment. As for whether that's exactly what they're saying we won't know until the official lyrics are posted.

prjio307
I'm sure the lyrics in my second post are 100% if you compare them with the letterman performance. Chris seems to be changing the lyrics to certain parts of songs with each performance which makes it tough to guess at what the actual studio version lyrics are. We'll just have to wait and see. We'll just have to wait and see. What do you mean, the lyrics as I've posted them are ones I've been tweaking over time and made my final corrections with the letterman concert as the vocals are easier to make out with that performance which was then my second post. I have also checked the lyrics with other concerts and they still seem correct.
Guest howyousawtheworld
This is about as perfect a song for a rainy day as you'll find. If rain gently pelting a puddle is music then it's that moment when Jonny's guitar comes in.
