  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

by germany 2001 do you meen their performance at Rock Am Ring 2001?

Yes at rock am ring.

The dvd quality is bad. But its a good concert :nice:

Or download for free ;)

Speaking of downloads...

Have any of you guys bothered downloading the full Live In Japan DVD yet?

It's cheer genius. It's approx. 88 minutes in length and consists of 17 brilliant performances of old and new songs.

I recommend downloading the 4GB DVD, though it might take a while before it's completely downloaded. But it's worth it!

I downloaded it from another forum thinking I could burn it or put it on my Zune or something, but when it was all done downloading I found out it was the read-only version. I gave up :(

This is why I will forever lurk atease. :dozey:

Okay....I'm making a confession, I don't know Radiohead that well and am not really INTO them, I mean I am into looooooooooooooads of Music, I'm sure I will love Radiohead, I just never got into them! Whats their best album? Could someone send me it? a link?

The only song i really know by them is 'Creep' and I quite like that! :D

So thanks!,

Si

Get either The Bends or OK Computer or In Rainbows. ;) Those are good albums to start with. Maybe The Bends would be the best choice for now.

The Bends is a fine choice.

It is also not a bad idea to start at the beginning with Pablo Honey. This is the least "unique" of all their albums, and it is a conventional structure. I still think there are a lot of gems on this album, like Stop Whispering, that get ignored. Anyhow, it is easier to make a transition once you find a starting point. Do not start with Kid A or Amenesiac. In Rainbows is also a suitable starting point.

Well, it really depends on each person. I started with OKC and then with Amnesiac and it was perfectly fine. I was shocked by the change in style, but that's all.

Very True.

I don't think Pablo Honey is that good of a starting place...since its not very Radiohead like I find.

I bought OK Computer, but the album I listened through first was IN Rainbows and then OK Computer, The bends...etc.

I still love love Thoms voice in Pablo, when he says RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

In the Song YOU, I think???

Oh his voice is great in Pablo, no doubt.

I started with In Rainbows & that was enough for me to get the rest of their albums :D

I have to say that I didn't like Pablo Honey that much (Except for Creep & Blow Out)

& about Thom's voice........he sounded fuckin' brilliant in Electioneering

Well, Pablo Honey is my least favorite album as well. But there are a lot of very good moments on it.

Pablo Honey is an easy album to dismiss because, I believe, Radiohead has bashed it themselves. But I look at it all as a progression, so why not start at the beginning? Perhaps better advice would be to get the Astoria DVD, which is a combination of Pablo Honey and the Bends.

If I did not like the Bends so well, I would not have had the patience to stick with Kid A or Amnesiac. I am glad I did, as they are now two of my favorite albums, but it only took me 20X. I say start simple and build. But, as mentioned above, everyone is different.

no radiohead song beats let down:

the 5 members do an amazing job, and the lyrics are awesome....

yeah I may change my mind tomorrow :P

I quite don't like Thom's voice on Pablo. too nasal. But at times I really love that too.

so this was a pointless comment haha

just to say something . don't fucking want to go to work. dammit.

I tried to use the Astoria DVD to introduce a friend to Radiohead. He liked Just, and that was it.

Really?!?...Well, never mind. I don't know what I am talking about. Never in my life did I think I would be espousing the virtues of Pablo Honey, but here I am.

:P

I'm not trying to argue everything you say here haha. Just so you know.

Just sharing my experience.

He eventually liked them...it was Paranoid Android that did the trick.

My other friend (who had very limited music taste) got into them by listening to In Rainbows.

So I guess the moral of teh story is...TRY ANYTHING! haha

Oh, I am not arguing with you either :)

I am just recounting my own experiences with discovering the band. I remember listening to The National Anthem or Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box and thinking WTF is this? Especially from a band that made a kick ass rock album like the Bends. Eventually, I have grown to love the Kid A and Amnesiac stage as much, if not more, than others.

:P

Sorry for the triple post. My computer went down on me. Obviously, the "enter" button was still working. ;)
