July 4, 201312 yr Opener: Don't Panic Closer: Death and All His Friends Don't Panic is really the song that made me fall in love with Coldplay. So moody, so somber yet happy at the same time. Absolutely amazing song... Death and All His Friends is a fantastic, bombastic, way to end an incredible album. That progression from soft vocals to the group chanting at the end is bloody brilliant!

November 14, 201312 yr Opener: "Life in Technicolor" / "Cemeteries of London" To a degree, there couldn't have been anything else to open an album such as Viva other than the rhythmic/dark overtone that "Life in Technicolor" and "Cemeteries of London" had. Just the first verse of "Cemeteries" alone, when Chris sings for the first time on the album, sets the mood perfectly for the entire 45 minutes. Closer: "Twisted Logic" Going out with a bang is always the best option. Especially after an hour-long roller coaster ride that is X&Y. "Twisted Logic" is the perfect closer to an album that essentially was a very melodramatic contrast of soft ballads and loud rockers, effectively closing with an compression of the collective sound of all 11 tracks that precede it. What ever sounds X&Y produced as a whole can be found in this climactic explosion, and that's a good way to end an album. Summarise yourself and go out with a bang.
