hux90
facepalm as much as you want, I truly believe that Coldplay deserve more love than Arcade Fire. I guess Coldplay has catchier melodies. To me though, what makes Arcade Fire awesome is the sheer size of the group. They don't need backing tracks, they play just about every instrument... Oh, and The Suburbs is one of the few albums that have absolutely no weak tracks, and that's saying something considering it's 16 tracks long. But don't get me wrong, I love Coldplay

I love Coldplay too :laugh3:

But thats a matter of taste...
MosesTheMarshmallow
Hmm Funeral is my favourite album...mainly because I haven't listened to the others in their entirety LOL. :embarrassed: But if you think Arcade Fire doesn't awaken any emotions for you, then something's wrong. Very wrong. Go listen again, or perhaps listen to live performances. I like Coldplay more, but Arcade Fire is a brilliant group too. On the original topic....YEP....everyone tries to make these comparisons but they're fairly meaningless in the end.
Guest howyousawtheworld
In my honest opinion, Arcade Fire is a very good band but I can't understand the hype around The Suburbs, because I enjoyed the first two albums much more than the actual. But thats a matter of taste... I really don't get the negativity towards The Suburbs. I think it's a brilliant album and is a far better album than Neon Bible. I can never get enough of Sprawl II! That's probably my favourite song by them. That said Win Butler's voice is good (that said I think Regine sings my two favourite songs by them :dazzled: ) but I do much prefer Chris Martin's over his. That said Win Butler's voice is good (that said I think Regine sings my two favourite songs by them :dazzled: ) but I do much prefer Chris Martin's over his. I think The Suburbs is their weakest album but I think it's still pretty good (maybe a bit too long). And Sprawl II :dazzled: I like Win's voice better but I enjoy both bands. What I really like AF is how they mix all their instruments and make beautiful sounds, some songs are so emotional and the lyrics are great... and they're amazing live. I think Coldplay is becoming more and more superficial these days and that's what I really hate about them (If you hear Amsterdam and then it was a wa wa wa wa waterfall it's like WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THEM :bigcry: :P)

I heard them live, and I don't like their music,it seems very generic and chaotic at the same time, it's very forgetable to me, and that's it. Like their songs have no memorable structures, hooks etc. This coming from someone who always gives a chance to music which is not "on the first listen" - I have gone through their music a couple of times and still find it dull. Respect to the fans and the band of course, just really really dislike the music. So I expect that people who like Arcade Fire respect my opinion too. Thanks

Thanks Ah sorry I realize my sarcasm came off a bit disrespectful. Don't worry about it, I see what you're getting at. I suppose that's the tradeoff for being a large group though. I used to think the same thing about certain Radiohead songs actually. :embarrassed:

Never really got Airbag for example...

admnistramation
How can you put Neon Bible anywhere other than a step down or equal to Funeral's magic? The Suburbs was mediocre.
The Final Track
I love Neon Bible. Maybe even more than Funeral.
Prospector
My favorite band is Coldplay but I LOVE The Suburbs. About the HLH thing, yes I can see a inspiration there, not from a specific song but from the style. Although Bruce Springsteen sound is more similar. InvaderXyl42
It doesn't surprise me that HLH has an Arcade Fire feel to it, Coldplay have been listening to The Suburbs quite a bit lately from what I've heard, and Arcade Fire is apparantly one of their favorites
niki_m14
The producer of Arcade Fire worked on Mylo Xyloto and Chris is a big fan so I guess AF inspired Charlie Brown. I read on a review that CB is the trackl Arcade Fire would never achieve.
Prospector
I can hear a lot of Arcade Fire on Hurts Like Heaven (specially Ready To Start), but not on CB, that's just so Classic Coldplay...
Phoebeo
I remember there was a thread in the AF forum making fun of coldplay and Chris Martin  What Arcade Fire forum? :cheesy: I kind of see the similarities between HLH and AF, but not with CB. :nice:
