I agree. They're just clean. (I'm a particular fan of the "Parachutes" cover.) I don't think it's as bad with VLV, just because A. it's not their original artwork, and B. it at least gave us an idea of what to expect from the album. MX is just...no.

 

Apart from the Delacroix painting, I remember liking the VLV's album artworks, especially the "artsy" photos of the band.

Unfortunately they no longer use it since 2008 or so (if I'm not wrong they changed it for the VLV artwork). It's a pitty that they abandoned something so iconic.

I agree, it would be better without the giant title on it. There was a time when Coldplay did'nt need to "yell" the title of their albums.

They're just refreshing, the new works must have new arts, sticking all life with a single shape of letters would stuck them in reverse.

I don't see that font fitting with VLV or MX, but Christmas Lights was a good choice with that font.

I think it's my least favorite artwork of theirs. I just think there's too much going on, I prefer the silver one with just MX tbh.

The cover is OK.

I like it ok. For awhile I thought every cover was going to be a color with a picture smack in the middle of it. Then Viva La Vida came, and yes, it had a boob on it.

I prefer the ''MX'' cover too. MTM and ETIAW's covers were fine for me, but this one is...a bit too messy. But then, it's a matter of time before it sinks in me, just like the album title.

I don't like it. I think it looks messy and too full of stuff. Plain and simple would have been better for me. I like the MX cover a little more.

But I do not think they just dropped Albertus font...

I just checked. The new version of the Coldplay website uses the Albertus font primarily.

I don't like this artwork because it looks like one of two things:

 

1. A bad attempt at a badass rap album cover

2. A bad attempt at a re-creation of a child's kindergarten painting.

The more I think about it, the more I just kind of wish it was the white cover with the MX cutout, and not the other full-graffiti version underneath. But I still don't hate it at all.
