Just to clear this up (MX)

Featured Replies

MX, the song, is called Mylo Xyloto.

The oracle has said at least twice that it was shortened to MX so as not to spoil the album title before its announcement.

Also, it is not just that 20 second intro before Hurts Like Heaven, it is a proper length song/instrumental piece (which the oracle has also said at least twice).

I thought the Oracle confirmed that MX did actually represent "Mylo Xyloto". Wasn't aware it was confirmed as an actual song/instrumental...

The instrumental piece before Hurts Like Heaven is a part of Mylo Xyloto (the song), but she said she wouldn't count that short instrumental as the song (presumably because it's far longer and has lyrics to it)

So MX is getting the Life In Technicolor treatment. My prayers have been answered.

^I was hoping for that too

So it's probable that the xylophone piece in the roadie blog became really part of the title track

I'm already in love with the HLH intro, I can't wait to see what the full song will sound like :wacky:

I asked her this actually because I wasn't sure. She didn't respond. Where exactly did you see this btw? But it really should be a whole song! After all, the whole album is named after it. I don't think they'd pull another Parachutes especially since they decided on the album name for that at the last minute. I bet it'll be mind-blowing. :D

I'm not sure why but this has always been my favorite emoticon to see on the boards [[ ]] I never use it but I should. idk it's really cute. And Hurts Like Heaven is the best new live one. Along with Us Against the World that is. :P Charlie Brown was my favorite before but idk. Some of the lyrics are still hard to hear. The one's in HLH are some of Coldplay best in awhile as are UATW. And the guitar is astounding. [[: Something I didn't know Jonny was capable of honestly. UATW also has the best vocals with Will backing on certain parts, i love the lyrical imagery and the intimate sound which apparently they didn't completelyyyy scrap. :) It vividly reminds me of something you'd hear at the end of A Rush of Blood to the Head along with Green Eyes, A Warning Sign and Amsterdam.

Part of me wonders if "MX/Hurts Like Heaven" is the song Mylo Xyloto. It would certainly explain all the rumors of "Hurts Like Heaven" potentially not making the album cut.

^You mean something like Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love? I hope they won't do that thing again.

I don't know but...? Why would they have named the whole album that if the song they named it after isn't even going to make the cut. That doesn't make much sense I don't think.

Yeah definitely not.

Hurts like Heaven is certainly it's own song. There isn't need for wondering - the Oracle cleared it up, hence this thread.

MX stands for Mylo Xyloto which is a full length song. The song title was also registered in the writers thing where someone found a bunch of other song titles.

The Oracle essentially said, "wow I'm glad someone finally figured it out" in response to the idea that MX (from the festivals) was just the shortened version of the actual song (more likely just the beginning of the actual song Mylo Xyloto).

Yeah, it's great! It gives me chills :wacky:

As much as I love that little intro I can't imangine a whole song but I'm sure that Coldplay will surprise me. :P

Maybe she just doesn't count that as a track because it is only a 30 second little piece. I wouldn't count that as a track either.

Cartoon Heart renamed Charlie Brown: Contains the words: Be a cartoon heart...

Hurts like Heaven MX/Hurts like Heaven: Contains the lyrics: You used your heart as a weapon, and it hurts like heaven....

Please dont rename hurts like heaven :bigcry:

i'm very tired of all this speculation. there are some things that are pretty straightforward.

a lot of people on these forums, because they want to have something to do, keep thinking that the band are being tricky or are throwing us a bunch of curveballs. they aren't.

MX is Mylo Xyloto (Do the album covers tell you nothing?). The Oracle has stated the intro MX from the festivals is apart of a longer song.

There will be no renaming of Hurts Like Heaven - at least not to MYLO XYLOTO!!! Pleeeeease people. Get a grip!

We've got nearly two weeks till Paradise. Then another month and a week or so till MX. At that time this useless pondering will be over. And the fanboys and fangirls will get to tearing the new material to shreds.

**Not all pondering is pointless. Some of it is based off something. But when it is not. When there are factual answers out there, just use the facts! And also, no problem if you didn't know something at first. But when people on here are saying it a dozen times just read it!

get 50 000 inpatient fans on one forum and tadaah!

I wonder if it was like this with every album so far..

Yeah definitely not.

Yes, the Oracle cleared up MX = Mylo Xyloto, and it being a full length song. I think what I suggested has been misinterpreted. I am simply wondering if the track we know currently as "MX/Hurts Like Heaven" may end up BEING "Mylo Xyloto" on the album, and it was simply a decoy for the time being.

Also, to the person who asked why they were leaving the title track off the album, that's not what I was implying. My point was, if my theory is correct, then of course "Hurts Like Heaven" would not make the cut, because there IS no "Hurts Like Heaven.";)

But alas, this is all just silly speculation.

This 100%!!! I have been going on and on and on and on and on about how much all of this stuff (renamed tracks, hidden messages, artwork, tacklists, saying how good songs are before we've even heard them) is just completely stupid. I've never seen anything like this on the forum before.

What I keep saying is, just leave it until the albums released THEN talk about the songs!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are the "facts" that tell me that "There will be no renaming of Hurts Like Heaven"?

I think its alright to have a vision and an opinion. Otherwise, what's the point of the message boards? We can read the facts anywhere, no need to have a discussion forum to restate facts.

For those who are bitching about the speculation/theory threads, I have a couple of questions question for you:

Why are you reading them? Doesn't the subject line give away the context of the thread in just about every case?

If you are above such dialogue, then maybe it's best to just stay out of the threads altogether, while the 85% of us that enjoy them, can continue to do so.

Well honestly, it's fun to read them.

And I'm always on the website and browsing about, I just happen to see a thread like this and I decide to read it, y'know I'll read it if I want to, maybe you should be asking me not to post the negative comment, then I'd oblige but I'll read the thread if it looks interesting.

And did I even say that I was "above such dialogue"? I'm not saying this as if the people talking and speculating are of a lesser intelligence, I'm only saying that it annoys me, that's all, just felt the need to share it with everyone.

Hope you're ok with that.

Okay, right. I got that MX was actually "Mylo Xyloto," but I hadn't deduced that it's actually a full-length song and only the intro (apparently) was used before HLH. Still not entirely clear where the Oracle has stated it is actually a song, though. From the little that has been written about it, I can't see where it's been made definitively clear -- unless I'm missing something?
