I like the song.

I find the song very nostalgic, which is maybe why I really enjoy it. I think there might be a lot or too much going on though. I do really like the melody of the choruses though.

You know, I think that might be part of why I like it, too, now that I think about it.

I like it quite a bit as well, though it's hard for me to get past the fact it sounds EXACTLY like a later-day U2 song.

Given that I don't listen to U2, I can't make that comparison and, in turn, I don't have that problem.

yep thats about it

Im curious on yalls thoughts on UWTB. It's my favorite and reminds me of 42 in a way that it splits off into what seems like two completely different songs, I obviously love both parts.

I find UWTB intriguing..I like the weird background breath-y inhale-y sounds, and the other background sounds.

The song seems rather uplifting to me... especially the last lyrics of the song which just so happens to be my favorite part of the album. :)

I settled for a 0/10 not because I'm being a ****, but I really don't see anything special, the interludes sound off, Paradise is a terrible song, Charlie Brown is probably the most generic track for me, I don't see anything original about it, it just sounds like a regular alternative band song. The lyrics are getting worse. DLIBYH had little potential to be good but they can't really even work a possible good song to sound ok in your ears, it's just noise to me, like Chris said, not cool shoegaze way.

The only thing I barely enjoy is MX/HLH.

0/10? seems pretty unfair

0/10 when not anything special?

Is the scale some kind of S-curve which reaches the maximum capacity way before 5 so all that is great or just okayish has different ratings while everything mediocre or worse is the same? :thinking:

is it just me or does this make no sense

You never got S-curves when you did math? Or you're too young? :P

I know Q Magazine is mediocre but I can't get over the fact they compared U.F.O. to Faust Arp.

I kinda hate Faust Arp tbh.

Eh I think I got what you tried to say. I think so? Yeah.

I'd say giving the album 0/10 is equally as silly as giving it an immediate 10/10.

I agree with this statement.

0/10 -> too much anger

10/10 -> drug addict

horrible video. reminds me of telletubies.

yeppp

The Paradise video is, and I'd rather not use this word but it feels incredibly appropriate, GAY. :thumbsdown:

Not even gay in the steamy sexy way, but gay in the ahhmahgawddd betches way.

Edited. We do NOT allow links to the album.

Thankfully, it's not as much of a disappointment as the Radiohead album earlier this year.

I've listened to it a few more times and am really liking the more upbeat songs the most, including Princess of China and Charlie Brown and even Paradise seems to find its place. I enjoyed the song from the beginning though, and it seems to be one of the better stuff they've done recently and combined with the new video it's a nice addition to the Coldplay discography.

Not only is it inappropriate, it's pretty meaningless in this context. Also, how is "gay" steamy and sexy?

The only thing gayer than the Paradise video is the song itself (as well as anyone who gets butthurt by me calling the song/video gay).

This comment is annoying.

No, I'd say the video is the cherry on top. Paradise is bad and the video is worse.

When is a music video good or bad?

When is a music video good or bad?

It's good when it's black and white and the singer is dancing.

It's bad when elephants are involved.

Let's have a philosophal discussion now.
