  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

Are you going to one their gigs too, Jen?

Lauren , maybe they will announce more shows, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

The thing is, those are both school days, and there's no way my parents would be ok with driving 3 - 4 hours just one way to either Houston or Fort Worth on a school night, then driving all that way back that late at night. I would have homework, and even if I didn't we would get back really late and it would just be a mess. I mean, that's what happened when Coldplay came to Houston and Dallas back in November 08. They were both on school nights and even then they wouldn't let me go, even though they know how much I love Coldplay, with them being my favorite band. So it's even less of a chance that they would let me do it for Muse. It would definitely be possible if they were coming to Austin. But even then they would probably say no. Darn that school. :(

:( Oh, I'm sorry, Lauren... that sucks. I guess I was thinking maybe that would be your Spring Break? I hope it works out for you!!

yeah, Rishi, I'm going to try to get tickets to the shows Ft. Worth and Houston.

It's possible! I heard an interview Matt did on a local radio station a few months ago and he mentioned really wanting to be here in Austin for SXSW. That would be around the time they'll be in TX for the other shows! Fingers crossed!

that mic stand looks awful.

I saw the Undisclosed Desires video the other day.

Shit song, Shit video

Lol Eddie. :whip:

Muse is awesome.

Lauren- they're coming in March- the 17 & 18th, I think. You have to go!!

For serious? Texas on the 18th?

That's my birthday.

...

OMFG I HAVE TO BE THERE. :bigcry:

So, any tips on how to ask your parents for concert tickets?

^wouldn't the tickets be an awesome birthday present?? :D

Plus, they go on sale THIS Saturday... could count as a xmas present, too! ;)

Aw, thank you Christa!

WAIT WAIT! really?!

*goes to check when Spring Break is*

OMFG IT'S TOTALLY DURING MY SPRING BREAK! AHHHHH!!!

Now I just must convince the parents. Committing this early to something that's months away isn't one of their strong points. Maybe I can get my brother to take me. He likes them. How much is it costing? Is it through Live Nation?

And it would be even better if they do end up coming to South By.

As long as they're not in a venue where you have to be 21. Some bars will let you in but not all. I heard about at a South By a few years ago that some underage Frengers (Mew fans) weren't allowed in to the venue where Mew was playing. That would freaking SUCK.

GAHH! That's awesome. Do you live in Houston or Ft. Worth? Because not having to travel at all would be even better for you!

^^ Jen, that would be the most awesome birthday present EVERRR. The problem is, my parents despise modern music, and because of this, the likelihood of this actually happening is not good. :(

^ No, I live a few hours away. :\

Muse just rocked my ****ing face off at KROQ ACX. I'll post pics later (none of which are that great, BTW). Simply put, these guys brought the house down. After sitting through the previous eight bands (some like Phoenix were fantastic, others like Slightly Stoopid weren't) for four straight hours, Muse took the stage, and that's when things lost control. From the moment "Uprising" began, everyone was on their feet and wailing. My friend and I were jumping up and down, undoubtedly annoying the mellow people behind us.

It wasn't a full performance, but it was still a serious contender for one of the best live acts I've seen. They don't exaggerate about Muse live. Best songs of the night were "Unnatural Selection" and "Knights of Cydonia", the latter of which had the full crowd jumping. I even developed a new appreciation for "United States of Eurasia", which I was never fond of but translates brilliantly live, with everybody pointing to the sky and screaming "SIA! SIA! SIA! SIA!" I'd say the one song that didn't go over so well was "Guiding Light", but such was a minor blip in a great performance.

Setlist (to the best of my memory):

- Uprising

- Resitsance

- Supermassive Black Hole

- Hysteria

- Guiding Light

- United States of Eurasia

- Starlight

- Time is Running Out

- Unnatural Selection

- Plug In Baby

- Knights of Cydonia

Again, I'll post sexy (but grainy) pictures of Matt in hot pink pants later.

EDIT: I just learned that Guiding Light replaced New Born in the setlist from the previous night. The hell?

Apologies for the double post, but perhaps some enticing pics should help you forgive me. These are only about half the pics I took, but the rest came out really blurry.

Also took some video of USoE and SMBH, which I may upload later.

gaaahhhhhh. Michael, great review and great pics! And Phoenix played, too??? I'm completely jealous now. :P

I watched the first part of it on the live webcast... up to Guiding Light. Hysteria and Uprising were excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised they did Resistance, but I was REALLY surprised they did Guiding Light. Seemed like an odd choice for that type of show.

But, it definitely got me excited to see them in a few months!! Now if I can only score tickets!

Thanks again for the pics and review. I'm so glad you had such a great time! Was that your first time seeing them live?

Yeah, first time and hopefully not the last! Phoenix was also incredible, but all my pics of them turned out pretty bad. (Thomas Mars did a run through the pit! Wish I could have been in it!)

Ooh Muse and Phoenix, lucky !

Glad to know you had a blast !

Yeah I think that Guiding light is not a good song live, no one was moving when they played it ^^

The lack of So. Cal. dates means they're likely playing Coachella instead, which I wouldn't go to, so here's hoping to a return to the area some time later in the year! Last night was too much of a teaser! :bomb:

Hmmm... it says "Tuesday Pre-Sale" for Houston and Dallas, and that all the pre-sales are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday of this week... am I reading it wrong?? The concert dates are the 17th and 18th... is that what you're looking at?

Oh wow I'm sorry, ok nevermind don't listen to me!

Yah I definitely didn't read it carefully. Yah I read the concert dates, not the presale date.

Good luck to everyone trying to get tickets !

Are you going to see them Lauren ?
