Mylo Xyloto artwork exhibition for Kids Company

16 October 2012 12:00 pm

Original work by Coldplay and Paris to be sold in aid of charity

Coldplay and Paris are pleased to announce an exhibition of original Mylo Xyloto artwork to raise funds for Kids Company. The exhibition will run from 29 November to 2 December at Proud Galleries in Camden, London.

The show will feature three original paintings on canvas by Coldplay and the band's Mylo Xyloto artwork collaborator Paris, as well as the original 7m X 2.5m graffiti wall that became the album artwork. A second wall painted by children from Kids Company and Paris will be displayed alongside Coldplay’s larger wall.

Also at the exhibition will be three high-quality prints of the Mylo Xyloto album artwork (each a limited edition of 8 and signed by the band); three high-quality album artwork prints (each a limited edition of 650 and signed by Paris); and unseen photographs from the Mylo Xyloto world tour taken by Roadie #42. These prints have been produced by Album Artists.

All of the work is for sale - both at the exhibition and online at Album Artists' website - with 100% of the proceeds going to Kids Company, a children’s charity which reaches out to over 17,000 vulnerable young people in the most deprived areas of London.

Said Chris Martin: “Kids Company is a phenomenal organisation that is very close to our hearts. While we were making the last album we did quite a lot of painting with our friend Paris. We built a special wall in our studio and sprayed it, wrote on it and threw things at it until it eventually became the artwork for Mylo Xyloto. This exhibition will be the first time that the wall has appeared in public."

Will Champion added: “The big wall and the three paintings are all one-off Coldplay/Paris originals. The money raised will make a big difference to some of London’s most vulnerable children.”

Camila Batmanghelidjh, Kids Company founder / CEO, said: “The support Coldplay have given us over the years has been amazing. Art plays a major role in Kids Company’s work with vulnerable children: kids who have experienced trauma often find it easier to express themselves using art materials rather than words. Our recent award-winning exhibition in partnership with the Royal Academy demonstrated this very powerfully and poignantly.”

The Mylo Xyloto exhibition will take place at Proud Galleries, The Horse Hospital, Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, London NW1 8AH. Entry is free and it will be open from 11am to 5pm each day. For the full list of available works, click here.

:surprised: Just noticed that on the one I got from the pop-up edition, at the bottom left-hand corner, there's a black thing with a pink heart and "Coldplay" and "Charlie Brown", just on the left of the big yellow thing. The photo must have been taken before it was painted :surprised:

Album Artists makes art for musicians and provides fans with original and limited edition artwork by their favourite stars.

We hooked up The Killers with Paul Normansell for their Rolling Stone's Best Album Art of the Year cover for Day and Age; we're working with Coldplay for their Mylo Zyloto album art by Paris to aid Kids Company, and Universal Music's Deutsche Grammophon for their current All Baroque Box by Christy Lee Rogers. And, there is LOT's more on the way.

If you work in the music industry and want to offer your fans some original or limited edition album art, or you are a fan and want to get hold of a bands album art - email us at: [email protected]

It so exited to see the original. It was my favourite question how they do that and where it is.

Holy shit...

Everyone on this site should chip in like $5 so that we can win the auction and somehow get to see it all, rather than some rich guy buying it where it won't be appreciated!

Well now that would be amazing :wacky:

Omg that would actually be a very awesome idea!

Everyone who chips in money, gets a small piece of the wall! :D That would be awesome.

I think i don't works with the $5! I wrote them today, the price for the wall is 1 million Pounds!

:wtf:

rather than some rich guy buying it where it won't be appreciated!

implying all people with substantial sums of money are heartless and could never appreciate art :laugh3:

WOW!

I think i don't works with the $5! I wrote them today, the price for the wall is 1 million Pounds!

Dude, that is quite a lot of money for some spraypainting O__O

Well, guess that idea is out the window. :stunned:

I can buy a huge house with that, not just a spraypainted wall :laugh3: :shocked2:

Dude, that is quite a lot of money for some spraypainting O__O

A Picasso 50x50 cm costs 50 millions or more, and this is much better then a picasso! ;)

ONE MILLION POUNDS :shocked2: :stunned:

Are you sure this price is real? With all due respect to the band & the noble cause they support but this is such an overrated price for a single spraypainted wall!!!

I would like very much to know who's going to buy it, if someone was this rich to buy it in the first place!!

one million pounds! seriously!!

implying all people with substantial sums of money are heartless and could never appreciate art :laugh3:

I'm pretty sure the combination of ALL the fans on here would appreciate it more than 1 person.

Also I have no idea where you came up with 'heartless' from...

I'm pretty sure the combination of ALL the fans on here would appreciate it more than 1 person.

so, you're suggesting all of the fans pitch in to make up the million pounds and then we somehow cut up the wall into really tiny pieces so we can all appreciate it?
