August 12, 201213 yr Frank Ocean Cancels Tour With Coldplay "I feel like an asshole right now," says singer, who has canceled European festival dates and a 10-city Coldplay stadium tour Frank Ocean put an end to his European tour on Saturday, abruptly pulling out of various summer festivals, including Way Out West in Sweden, and a Coldplay stadium tour that would have taken the "Channel Orange" singer to ten major cities starting later this month. "Let me start by saying I feel like an asshole right now," Ocean said in a statement relayed by Way Out West organizers, "but a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months." The Odd Future member, who tweeted from Paris on Sunday morning, offered no specifics on his decision. A rep has not responded to Billboard's request for comment. On Friday the singer cut short a performance at the Oya Festival in Norway after singing four songs, citing vocal problems. A review in theMusic.com.au said the show was "shaping up excellently at the time" of his disappearance. The "Bad Religion" star was scheduled to perform at the massive Way Out West festival on Saturday. Their explanation was equally vague: "Both Frank Ocean and we hoped hoped for the best, but unfortunately he will not be performing." The Coldplay shows were announced in March, well before the explosive success of his debut solo album "Channel Orange," which bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last month. The dates, beginning Aug. 28 in Copenhagen, Denmark, would have represented some of the biggest venues that Ocean will yet inhabit as a solo artist. The Sept. 2 show would have placed Ocean at the Stade de France and there were other stadium stops on Munich, Prague and Warsaw. At the end of his apology for cutting short his European trek, Ocean sounded contrite, saying he was "Sorry as fu-k, I'll be back if you'll have me." link
August 12, 201213 yr I don't think it means much at this point, either they find a replacement act or they'll just move up the remaining opener.
August 12, 201213 yr SH*T! I really enjoyed his album, and was happy to see him in Paris. I hope they do find another act, but I doubt it... They might be happy with only 1, we only had Emeli Sandé in December. Anyway, I hope Ocean is fine...
August 12, 201213 yr I would like Emeli Sandé or Rita Ora I prefer Emeli to Rita but any one is good, have you heard her cover of Every Teardrop is a waterfall
August 12, 201213 yr I sure hope for a replacement, because the doors open very early for me, 15.30. Standing around for 4 hours until Marina comes on doesn't sound good :dozey:
August 12, 201213 yr Bad news. I'm not a big fan, but reviews of his album are very good, so I want to see him live. I hope there will be good replacement.
August 12, 201213 yr Sent a question about this to the Oracle. I hope for an answer, since it affects the whole leg...
August 12, 201213 yr Frank won't perform in Warsaw and it sucks because I wanted to see him, I love his first album and American R&B stars are less likely to be seen in Poland performing :(
August 13, 201213 yr I don't blame Frank. I wouldn't want to have to hear "Paradise" every night either. :P
August 13, 201213 yr Frank Ocean is no longer mentioned on coldplay.com... I guess that's it! (yes, I still had a tiny little bit of hope)
August 14, 201213 yr I'm kinda waiting for an official announcement from Coldplay. The silent disappearance of one support act from the concert list is quite easy to miss if you don't come on Coldplaying.
August 15, 201213 yr Never mind. I've not particularly heard his music anyway. I understand those disappointed with his non-appearance, but we're all going to see Coldplay afterall :D. Not too fussed who replaces him.
