Do you feel like you know Coldplay personally?

Featured Replies

I have followed Coldplay since A Rush Of Blood To The Head. I always knew of Yellow and the album Parachutes. But really got hooked with A Rush. Ever since then I have watched and listened to countless interviews, performances, concerts, tracks, albums, music videos, etc. A lot of members on the board here im sure have followed them closely as well. I was thnking today I cant help but feel like I know them personally a little bit. Like im actually friends with them, even though I have never met them personally. Its a pretty amazing thing to have followed the band and watch them grow from album to album.

I was wondering if you guys feel like you know the band personally?

In a way, yes. And I often wake up after dreaming we were hanging out together. And then I realize it was just a dream...

yep me too but I dreamed that Chris was my boyfriend now but I wake up and is not true.

I no longer love the song escapist :(

I used to be sort of angry with folks who came to know Coldplay after myself and was all possessive like "Hey, Coldplay is mine! " So that's to answer your question to some extent.

Same :uhoh:

no not anymore i realised it's kinda weird

I'd like to think I do, but really I don't think we can properly. I am a firm believer in the opinion that, unless you've talked to someone properly, over an extended period of time, you can't know them properly (and this applies to 'normal' people as well.) Yes, we can get an idea of how they are through interviews etc and certainly we're given an insight into Chris' mind in particular through the lyrics, but watching lots of interviews with someone is not the same as knowing them. We always want to put out the best image of ourselves, even if we do it unconsciously, so the guys will be editing, if you like, their lives and opinions when they're interviewed. Also, like it or not, they will want the best media representation possible, so will obviously censor certain things. Finally, sometimes even the people we know IRL don't know who we are on the inside - I don't think even we know our full selves sometimes.

So, long story short, no, I don't feel like I know Coldplay personally. Whilst I would love to, and whilst I enjoy talking about the individual band members (I know some people don't like doing this, but personal opinion), these things always comes a clear second to their music. It's what I fell in love with them for, and I just find it a great 'extra' that they happen to be (or seem like) such wonderful, lovely guys.

I love their music and if I'm honest I am obsessed with them. I feel I know them through their music (it makes sense to me). I had a dream last night that I seen Jonny walking and I ran after him but he looked back and carried on walking. The night before I had a dream that Chris ran past me onto a stage and then it ended. :D it's odd because I hardly ever have dreams, must go blank.:D:D

i don't think we do at all. it would take years of friendship to even know your best friends properly. whilst i too have known the band for ages i think unless you lived with them in the same house for a while its impossible to know who they really are or feel like you know them personally.

but they seem to be pretty amazing people who make amazing music so i bet everyone around them feels lucky

i don't think we do at all.
Of course we don't. That's why the title says " Do you feel like you know Coldplay personally?" :)

to be true, one thing is sure I do not feel lucky. so I guess I will not have the chance to know them. I'm just fangirl in real life.

wish i had twitter!!! :( so sad :( yeah i think that if coldplay turned up at my doorstep i would probably tell them how amazing they are and how they sort of made my life complete LOL!!!!! i would definately ask them if they will have a new album after MX

I agree with this

I often wake up after dreaming we were hanging out together. And then I realize it was just a dream...
I've also had dreams in which I was hanging out with them :awesome: Actually, in those dreams, we talk about their career or, i have to admit, myself ( i know, I feel so self-centered :shame: ), but always something related to the band. So, overall, no, at the moment I don't feel like I know them personally.
