Coldplay: 'We've got a name for our next album'

 

Coldplay have hinted that they already have a name for their next album.

 

The band, who this week release their new tour DVD/album Live 2012, teased their plans for the follow-up to fifth record Mylo Xyloto on Australian radio today (November 20).

 

 

Speaking about the difficulty of pronouncing Mylo Xyloto, Chris Martin told 2DayFM: "The next one we're releasing is much easier to pronounce."

 

When asked the next album's title, the frontman replied: "I can't tell you that!" before turning to guitarist Jonny Buckland and saying: "Can I give a hint?" Buckland shook his head and replied: "No."

 

Martin also explained that it is Coldplay's aim to improve as a band.

 

"We got to a point where we started thinking about other things, like perfume endorsements and reality shows, because we can," he said.

 

 

"But we're so lucky in what we do and people will always want to hear music they like, so we want to just get better and better and better."

 

Coldplay are performing with Jay-Z at three shows next month, including a New Year's Eve gig in Brooklyn.

 

The group were recently quoted as saying that they "don't give a f**k" about looking cool.

OMG I love MX but I want a new album so badly.

Something tells me the break between MX and LP6 will be shorter than ones in the past.

What is LP6? and what do you guys think this new 'era' would be like :O what kind of music would you want to be on there? ..id love songs that would have be similar to Violet hill + Moving to mars + the scientist !

They already had come up with the name for Lp5 in 2009, so this doesn't really surprise me at all. Doesn't mean the gap between the albums will be any shorter either.

I have a feeling that there will be more ROCK but at the same time more songs like ETIAW and GLASS OF WATER.

Why do I fear that their next album will be called something minimalistically artistic like "." or "~" with all their talking about wanting to improve etc? :lol:

^LOL I don't think so! I think it will be like 3 words. A sentence with sense! Hahaha. Something like "Running For Life" or "Dig the Dark", I don't know...

Will be hard to follow up MX imo, not in terms of song quality throughout the album, but the success and popularity of it, the concept and how good the live shows for it were.

I think there might be a Christmas album or collaboration or an EP! I can't think that they will release a new album when they have not finished this tour! I mean don't they give a LOT of time and thought before releasing new material? And when did they get time this year? They have been touring non stop almost!

Next EP will probably be "Car Kids" i have my money on that =P ..the songs on it should be interesting!

Hmmmm well they haven't released any B-sides from MX yet and no EP either... They might have an album ready for release?

 

Otherwise, here starts another 3 years of intense anticipation and torturous speculation...

Why are some people here scared they would not be as good as MX and before, I'd love if they go on in a smaller way. I think too that the time between MX and his follow up will be a lot shorter then we are accustomed.

But I really do hope they do improve for LP6 because even though MX was great, it wasn't the best. As my mom said to me last night, it's time to shape up.
