The Snow Patrol Thread

That would be great! :) New photos for the Gary-lovers-group and photos of Nathan for ... well, me. :P

I got to meet Snow Patrol after my gig as well and they were soooo nice.

Queuing with her won't be that exhausting and boring I guess, seeing she already met Coldpaly (which is too much for me - only two concerts and she met them, she must be a very lucky girl. Why don't you take her with you to one of your Coldplay concerts? :D)

Ok then! :)

And yes, sometimes it seems as if it was easier to meet them in other countries...

She waited at the backstage exit after the show in 2005 or 2006 (I'll find out more on Sat :D).

We only met once, she's friends with one of my colleagues and he introduced us.

Believe it or not - but after we spoke she said she'll try to get tickets for either Paris or Düsseldorf now!!!

Would be funny if she actually managed to get some.

Nathan = :guitarist: Just looked it up

I'll try my best to get good pics for you

  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Posted Images

I'm going to see them tomorrow, so I think I might post a little review during the following week. :) I'll also take photos and make some videos. :)

I wonder whether the setlist's still the same or whether they changed it a bit... Well, I at least hope that I'll get so see the screen this time. :D

I'm so looking forward to seeing them again and I'm so excited. Keep your fingers crossed for me guys, thanks in advance!

Ok, so I just got home...

Don't know where to start!!! :bomb:

IT WAS AN AMAZING NIGHT!

We got to the venue shortly before 5pm and there were only a few people around, but we decided to stay of course.

M. and me had a great drive to the venue, lots of funny talking

She told me she had "Rockstar Parking Karma" - means whereever she goes she or the person she's with gets a good place to park and so it was!!

Unbelievable - right when we arrived at the venue a car left one of the few parking spaces and so we could leave the car at the closest place possible! :D

It started to rain right when we arrived. Two girls were sitting at the entry already and so I started talking to them.

First in French, then when we talked about where we come from she said "Oh, so you're from Germany? Speaking German is a lot easier for us!" So that was fine :)

They went to a lot of other concerts before and love London and the UK as much as I do so time flew by and it was time to prepare bags to be checked and have the ticket ready...

We were among the first ones to enter the venue and so we had the best places: FRONT ROW CENTER!!

At 8pm the opening band came on stage.

Really cool guys, we were the ones who started clapping and so all the other people followed :)

We bought their CD at the end of the concert and made everyone sign.

It was so funny because only two of the 5 were at the selling point...

When we came up they said "We saw you!"

Really cute!!

So we said we wanted their CD but only if all of them signed.

The drummer called his other bandmates to come over!!!!

So now we have our signed CD.

Ok, no worries, I'll come to the point now haha!

Shortly before 9pm Snow Patrol came on stage.

As I said it was my first time seeing them... and they blew me away!

Gary is such a great front man!!!!!

He was really interacting with the crowd.

He messed up the lyrics of the very first song and apologised for that, saying to one girl next to us "Hey, you know the lyrics a lot better than I do"

We talked to her afterwards, she's a die-hard fan from Brazil and she was on the screens a lot ofthe time as well.

Gary's comments inbetween songs were hilarious! :laugh3:

During "Run" a girl standing close to us passed out and she was unconscious. Like a wet towel!

So they stopped the song until she was finally in a wheelchair and brought out of the venue. It was scary!!

But I love that they interrupted and waited until she was taken care of. So nice.

Then they started the song again and dedicated it to her...

Gary's comment was "Ok, if you see the headline "Snow Patrol puts people to sleep in Luxembourg" tomorrow - please boycott that newspaper from then on"

I didn't know every single song but I danced and jumped soooooo much!!

We were really having a LOT of fun.

All of them saw us and they confirmed that after the gig.

They all went "I saw you!"

It was hard to NOT notice us really :)

I was jumping for entire songs and after that my legs hurt so much!!

Going to concerts is my "sports activity" now:

- Running to the front row

- Jumping and dancing and clapping

That's enough for me :laugh3:

The visuals at the screens were really cool!

At one point when I was filming Nathan looked at me and had the cuuuutest smile on his face!

Gary stepped on the monitors a few times and came down on the big speakers in front of us.

I have to repeat myself:

Phenomenal crowd interaction!!

They played for about 100 minutes.

So after the concert we went to get the CD of the opening band...

They weren't sure what they're called themselves :laugh3:

And then we got something to drink and went to the backstage entry.

I'm too tired to type up all the conversations now so I'll do that after I slept... Sorry.

But you've probably not even read all of that and are just waiting for my pics I guess

They turned out GREAT!

Pics in next post!

OH I almost forgot!!!!

How could I??

They played "Glass of Water" before the gig!!!!!

I was dancing and singing really loud with my hands up in the sky

And the water they were selling was called "VIVA"!!!

Those were my Coldplay moments :P

"No stage diving" - that one made me laugh... The crowd was rather silent.

We didn't care and had our party :)

Fantastic pics and review! I can almost feel your excitement! :D

Congrats on meeting the band!

Gary's comment was "Ok, if you see the headline "Snow Patrol puts people to sleep in Luxembourg" tomorrow - please boycott that newspaper from then on"

gotta love Gary's humour!

+ the fact that they played Glass of Water! (i bet it's cos it's Gary's fave song right now!)

& that's some great Snow Patrol karma you had going on for you for the concert too! great to see that you had a blast & met the band too!

on another note, i've d/l the single version of Planets Bend Between Us & can definitely tell that there's a huge difference compared to the album version! i've no idea why i didn't notice it at all before when watching the MV.

i hang my head in utter shame at my musical blindness... :embarassed: :shame:

Ok, so here's the part about the backstage entry:

Talking to Gary:

3756649176_dc8c37d73c_m.jpg

We arrived at the backstage entry and they had just come out.

I put my glass of water (the VIVA water :)) down on the floor and so did M. with her champagne.

I thanked him for the amazing gig and said it was my first time seeing them and that I liked it A LOT.

M. said she persuaded me to come as she knew what to expect and I thanked her AGAIN, don't know how many times I did that last night

He signed my ticket and M.'s setlist.

Then we asked if we could take a picture and Gary said sure.

So we asked a woman standing there as well to take it and so we posed.

He put his arms around us and so I didn't hesitate to put my arm around his back :D

After that I checked and she didn't press the button hard enough so no pic taken.

I asked if we could try again and he just smiled and said "Sure" again :wacky:

And then I said "Great, so we can cuddle a little longer"

M. said to me afterwards that she couldn't believe her ears that I said it... but it was just this nice situation and it was just said in a funny way and he understood it as that as well, so please don't think I'm creepy or something!!

Then M. and him talked about where she's from and so Gary asked what she's doing in Germany.

She replied she's a scientist (nobody said it was eeeeeeeeasy... oh wait, wrong situation!) and he asked what exactly etc.

He then said "So you help protecting us from the swine flu!" and she said "No, cancer actually" and then he said:

"Even better! On behalf of the world: Thank you!"

Talking to Paul:

3755850043_ae09eda6ab_m.jpg

We thanked him etc... and Paul asked where M. is from.

She said she's from Seattle and that she's seen them perform there, does he remember that gig?

He couldn't so she described a little further and said "You were wearing a white shirt" as well.

He reacted as if that was a thing that has never happened before!!!

"No, I never wore a white shirt!"

Then after a pause you could really see the penny dropping

"Oh THAT gig... well, I don't really remember anything from that day. It was probably the most drunk gig I've ever played".

Then he told us a funny story about that day.

That he was drunk and they were supposed to do a signing in a store before the gig but the security guy didn't let him go inside because he was drunk!!

So he fell asleep in front of the store and a girl found him there, only shortly before the gig.

They had to call a doctor to give him injections so he was able to go on stage! When he told that part of the story he also made a impression of getting an injection in his behind. So funny!!

M.'s comment to that was "Yes, I remember you were less enthusiastic at that gig" :laugh3:

Talking to Nathan: :wacky:

3755850541_8c5c27a9a5_m.jpg

Usual saying thanks etc.

Then he said "Yes, I saw you!!"... then a short pause... "and your shirt" :D

I replied "I know, it's the wrong band t-shirt." :laugh3:

So I told him I was a big Coldplay fan and asked how it was touring with them in the US.

He said it was great fun as they got on well with all of them a lot.

I can really imagine that. They are all so sweet!!!

I asked if it is weird to play to 100.000 people one night and to 6000 the next and he said it really was. Like it was amazing to play to such a massive crowd but that they enjoy playing the smaller gigs as well.

I said that I had the impression the crowd was rather lame and he said "Yes, they were a bit silent" and I said "We didn't care, we had fun" and he said again that he could see that from the stage!

Like I said in my first post about the concert: it was hard to NOT notice us singing along and dancing and clapping and jumping!!

So Nathan said that "well, it was our first time playing here" and asked if the crowd generally is like that there.

I said I didn't know as I came from Germany and it was my first time going there.

He then complimented the German crowds and said it was always fun to play there because in Germany and Holland (I think that was what he said?) they had the best success in Europe.

Final part (promised :P)

It was this one guy's (Richard) birthday that day and Gary told us about it when he saw him on the side of the stage during the concert and we all said "Happy birthday Richard".

First Gary and Paul were at the backstage entry, Nathan and Tom came outside afterwards.

So when Gary went inside and said bye to us he apologised (Like he had to - they took so much time to talk to us!) that they'll leave now to go party somewhere now.

So my final words to Gary were "Go and get pissed!!" which he replied with "Thanks, I'll take that advice" :laugh3:

Gary and Paul went inside.

Then M. and me were talking to the other girls at the backstage entry.

We could hear the band through the open windows and the girls were talking about one song and that they don't think it's their best etc... so I said "If we can hear them they can probably hear us as well... we probably shouldn't be talking so loudly about what we think about that song!" :P

Then we heard them starting to sing "Happy Birthday" so we all joined in and sang as loud as we could, clapping and screaming afterwards!! :laugh3:

It was such a great atmosphere!

Only minutes later Nathan and Paul came outside...

When they said their goodbyes they said again that they will leave now to celebrate Richard's birthday and I said "We were singing "Happy Birthday" with you" and he said they heard us!

We then talked a little more to the girls and saw the band going inside the bus so we made our way to the car.

During that the bus left the venue and went past us...

We waved at the bus and they were all waving back to us!

What a great end of the night...

So all in all it couldn't have been better.

(well, that cute drummer could have come outside... but I certainly won't complain - next time! haha)

Haha , beautifully written Anna, it was almost like we were there with you (I wish) :)

They all sound so lovely. :wacky:

Nice review and stunning pictures - thanks!

Pretty cool you met them afterwards.

Now I really can't wait for Wednesday in Hamburg!!!!!!:wacky::wacky:

gotta love Gary's humour!

+ the fact that they played Glass of Water! (i bet it's cos it's Gary's fave song right now!)

Yes, I was so happy when they played Glass of Water!

And Gary has a great sense of humour!

At one point he said "Ok, I'll dedicate this song..." then at that part the girl from Brazil was screaming "..you!" and he pointed at her.

Before the next song he said "Ok, the next one is for everybody" :laugh3:

Oh there were so many other ones.

I probably won't have time until the beginning of the next week but I'll upload a video with some moments from the concert on youtube.

The sound of my videos during songs is sh*t but I have recorded some talking and that sound is fine.

Nice review and stunning pictures - thanks!

Pretty cool you met them afterwards.

Now I really can't wait for Wednesday in Hamburg!!!!!!:wacky::wacky:

Oh cool!!

Have fun!

Make sure to go to the backstage entry afterwards (and don't wait too long to go there, they came out pretty soon afterwards).

You got Tiny Little Fractures!?!?!?!?!?

Best setlist of the tour so far, by a mile.

I have seen it twice already though, so...

Just listened to the song on yt and I remember not knowing a single lyric but singing the "oh oh oh oh oh oh oh" parts :laugh3:

Gosh Anna that's awesome. Perfect evening, especially when we know you weren't really supposed to attend this gig.

Well done girls :D

Oh, thanks for the tip!:)
