@Bianca- which early album would you recommend I get first, Songs for Polar Bears or We Still Need to Clear Up?

  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

@ Jen (I hope I'm allwoed to call you Jen :))

Hm, hard to tell because I got both the same time and mix them up everytime I listen to them. But I would say start with When It's All Over and if you like the album, get Songs For Polarbears. In my opinion When It's All Over is a bit more like the Snow Patrol you already know.

If you're not sure, give the tracks on both albums a listen on YouTube. ;)

Yeah, I'd agree with Miss Bianca here. (:P)

I think When It's All Over is Snow Patrol's best album. :)

Oh, Mr Bernard, so you like Black And Blue and On/Off as much as I do?

Well, I'll put it this way, three of my five top Snow Patrol songs are from When It's All Over. :)

1. The Lightning Strike

2. An Olive Grove Facing The Sea ()

3. On/Off

4. Spitting Games

5. Fifteen Minutes Old

How about you?

Oh, God, I LOVE Fifteen Minutes Old! :cheesy:

Don't make me pick my Top 5 - I always end up making my Top 10.

Because I would end up listing almost every Snow Patrol song, I take the Top 10 from my iTunes, okay?

1. Chocolate (it was Shut Your Eyes for a looooooooooooong time but I don't listen to it as much as I do listen to Chocolate)

2. Just Say Yes

3. Brave

4. Signal Fire

5. Disaster Button

6. Tired

7. You're All I Have

8. Hands Open

9. Shut Your Eyes

10. Tiny Little Fractures

But there are definetely missing: Warmer Climate, Cubicles and Perfect Little Secret!

 I warned you how it would end up. Sorry ...

That's a good top 10, Bianca! :)

I can't believe Tired was never properly released, it's such a good song too. :)

I really hope there will be a dvd!! I'd love that! The Killers DVD coming now, then if we'd get a coldplay and a snow patrol one too :escaping: Life's great :wacky:

+1 for that! Snow Patrol + Coldplay CD = <3

i haven't listened to When It's All Over, but from what i've heard on Songs For Polarbears, i'd say that the Snow Patrol then sounded a lot grungier compared to the Snow Patrol from Final Straw onwards & even more so if compared to A Hundred Million Suns.

but i personally like it when bands show a progression or evolution in their music than just keep to 1 type of sound. & i think the pre-Final Straw albums are from the era before Nathan joined & started contributing to the music writing anyway...sorry if i've got it wrong, i'm pretty hazy about bands' timeline/discography in general.

@TickingClock : you have Cubicles??? SQUEEE!!! could you tell me where i can find it...pleeeease? i've only ever heard it from a YouTube video of the acoustic set they played in some record store in Nashville, but i loved it anyway! :D

@Bianca- of course you're allowed to call me Jen! :P

And everyone... thanks for the recommendation. Looks like I'll be looking into When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up :D

@Kimmi- I'm with you, I definitely appreciate when a band evolves... it gets boring otherwise! People are always complaining that Coldplay are not the same Coldplay who did Parachutes... and they're right, they're not! And I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing! I mean, it's been nearly 10 years- their lives have changed dramatically and so should their music! But that's my opinion, anyway...

:P

That's a good top 10, Bianca! :)

Thanks! :nice:

Definetely, Tired could have been on like ... a UK version of A Hundred Million Suns! They did this with Warmer Climate and In My Arms on Eyes Open, so why not on AHMS?

I don't have ANY Snow Patrol B-tracks!!!! :bigcry: I feel like a piece of me is missing :( I've never found them anywhere! Does anyone have a link where I could download some? :curtain: :P or do they even have that many?

Look through the Snow Patrol Thread in the Multimedia Section, that's were I got most of the b-sides from. Though I got Cubicles from the Crack The Shutters Single. :D

What I said to Jo. It's in the Mulitmedia Section I believe.

Morning, all! :nice:

You peeps in Europe best get on this:

http://www.snowpatrol.com/pubquiz.html

I haven't been able to locate the terms and conditions, but I doubt they'd fly my butt all the way out there from the States! :(

^ I'm no expert, Johku, but if you need another person, I'll join you! :D

edit: I take it back... You should form a coldplaying team with those on here who really know their stuff! I'd love it if you guys won!!

WOW!!! I just got my team... :D :D :D Think I might play it.... :D :D :D

I'd join your team Jo, but I know nothing about the guys. :disappointed:

I don't know that much but I love the band and I'd love to be in a team if anyone is looking for another member :D

Well unfortunately, I think I'd be a drag on any know-it-all team. I know the band members' names, and I know the albums, and that's it. None of the fancy background info I know about Coldplay.

That said, considering it's a FACEBOOK challenge, there's probably plenty of teams who don't know crap about the band. Still, gonna pass. Best of luck to all who enter, though! :D

I can't be bothered to be that clued up about any band, including Coldplay.;)

Well, Ilione just made me join, so I have no chance to do otherwise.

She says that it would be the perfect occasion to win something like this and proof our knowledge about Snow Patrol for the two of us. :D

All we need now are three other members. :)

@Bianca: If there was someone who really knows a lot about the boys, then that'd definitely be you!

@johkujii: I'd love to join your team! I mean, if it'd be okay for everyone ;) I do have a ticket for the show on the 23rd, but I think the seats in the boxes would be much nicer than what I've got. Plus meeting the boys like that would just be the icing on the cake. :cheesy:

Still can't believe that there's been so much going on in this thread while I've been away! :stunned: I'm just about to catch up with everything the best I can as I'd really love to comment bits of it here and there. :)
