I_love_útvarpshaus
The Headmaster Ritual was the second song of them that I have gotten to know. My best friend had bought "Meat Is Murder" and let me listen to the opening track. I liked it so much that I let her put it on a mix CD for me. :D And... I'd listen to it... So often. But I only borrowed her CDs now. Well, two months ago. I have even returned them to her already... And... Hmmhhh... I am listening to "Rusholme Ruffians", which I liked it immediately. Especially the perfect line "Scratch my name on your arm with a fountain-pen. This means you really love me." :laugh3:

tEx
bump..... I have to agree, The Smiths are the greatest band, certainly of the past 30 years. Have we all seen Chris Martin on youtube singing The Smiths "Stop Me If You Think That Youve Heard This One Before" - Mark Ronson just hit #1 in the UK with a cover of this song as well..... Rolling Stone magazine just tabbed Morrissey & Johnny Marr as the #5 best songwriting tandem in rock history. Most of todays music fans do not realize how influential The Smiths & Morrissey are and have been. Virtually every indie band from The Libertines to Arctic Monkeys to Keane to The Killers to Franz Ferdinand, Oasis all credit Morrissey and The Smiths as a top influence. I always knew Modest Mouse were fans, and now theyve picked up Johnny Marr, who is taking a very prominent role in the band. Then youve got the bands that have used Morrissey lyrics to name their band: Ordinary Boys, Pretty Girls Make Graves....

ég-elska-Thom
I must admit I never thought about if I liked his voice. It's just very unique, also the way he sings. I mean, for me it's more about the lyrics and of course he delivers them.

Last week RollingStone magazine named Morrissey/Marr #5 all time best writing duo.... The list: 1. Lennon/McCartney 2. Jagger/Richards 3. Strummer/Jones 4. John/Taupin 5. Marr/Morrissey 6. Becker/Fagen 7. Garcia/Hunter 8. Waits/Brennan 9. David/Bacharach 10. Lieber/Stoller Hand In Glove, playing right now......such a powerhouse of a song.... tEx
YOU complete me.......... Hand in glove The sun shines out of our behinds No, it's not like any other love This one is different - because it's us Hand in glove We can go wherever we please And everything depends upon How near you stand to me And if the people stare Then the people stare Oh, I really don't know and I really don't care Kiss My Shades Hand in glove The Good People laugh Yes, we may be hidden by rags But we've something they'll never have Hand in glove The sun shines out of our behinds Yes, we may be hidden by rags But we've something they'll never have And if the people stare Then the people stare Oh, I really don't know and I really don't care Kiss My Shades ... oh ... So, hand in glove I stake my claim I'll fight to the last breath If they dare touch a hair on your head I'll fight to the last breath For the Good Life is out there somewhere So stay on my arm, you little charmer But I know my luck too well Yes, I know my luck too well And I'll probably never see you again I'll probably never see you again I'll probably never see you again Oh ...
