I have also noticed that Chris has lost his strong English accent. But I think he doesn't have an American accent when he is speaking, but just sometimes when he's singing... or maybe I'm wrong

 

Don't get me wrong, while he has lost his Devonian accent, he hardly has an American accent. In fact, he still sounds very English to an American audience. It's just that you can detect his American influence when he speaks or talk through the years. The other 3 don't have that problem.

 

As I type, I remember an interview where Gwyneth says it's a challenge communicating with her in-laws sometimes. She constantly has to explain herself, no that's not what I meant. LOL It was hilarious.

You know, I was watching the band's Glastonbury set the other night on YouTube...

 

...and, um, I kinda really liked it when Chris was rolling around on the stage. So thanks for those "layiing down" photos, Comicforce :D (appropriate you post that before going to bed).

 

I hear no trace of an American accent when Chris is talking. It's all strongly English to me. Which is completely fine in my book :).

Chris doesn't sound remotely 'American' to me either, and he still talks with a fairly thick English accent, but after spending half your life away from home, your accent begins to 'blend in' a bit more. And I've also heard that when American fans couldn't understand his early lyrics, he took some coaching on how to enunciate more so that non-Brits could hear what he sang/said. Same as people in New Delhi take classes in how to speak to North American clients when they work at call-centers. As far as I know, that's just a rumour, but I've heard it several times, and on listening to the change in his accent over 5 albums, it makes sense.

Oh...and since I did a bit off-topic rant with no pics, I'll make it up to you all here:

Agreed. But his accent was much thicker back in the day. I could barely understand a word he said. lol.

I hear no accents, such is the penalty for living in the same country as the band.. (If they can be said to live anywhere) But I can cope with that.. :D

It's not so much the accent than the vocabulary. They laughed at him for using oftentimes. Where do you think he learned that?

About the accent thing. I can definitely hear that it has changed. In 2000, Parachutes Era, he has a very strong accent when he sings. (Spies..)

To be fair, I've never left the continential U.S. once in my life, so my take on accents and such is pretty limited. So I'll take your guys' word for everything regarding that topic. I think we can all at least agree that no matter what the accent, hearing Chris talk is never a bad thing?
