🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion

Featured Replies

You'd be surprised to know how long some of these songs have existed in some form.

ALL MY LOVE, i AM A MOUNTAiN, and feelslikeimfallinginlove all have some sort of origin relating to the Everyday Life era.

Higher Power was even written on the AHFOD tour aswell.

I suspect I'll forever have a bias with Moon Music. My heavily pregnant wife and I went to the cinema for the listening event, knowing it would be our final date together alone as a couple before we b

Did a quick mix of iAAM, with Chris and the piano from the acoustic version and G+J+W from the album mix. It feels more Viva-ish to me this way.  Coldplay - I am a Mountain (classicplay mix).

I recall Chris saying Higher Power was written in 2020 in a bathroom sink when they were promoting it

I might be one of the handful who is excited about We Pray. I really enjoyed what I heard at Glastonbury. 😄

YOU.ARE.NOT.ALONE!

I'm excited too! Just a few hours. I really like the song compared to most on MOTS. It does have a Viva feel to it with the strings and drums so I'm excited to hear the final mixing to see if there's even more depth to the instruments.

Lyically it's solid too, though I think the song may run the risk of some people feeling like it's a bit of privileged political drivel. What I mean by this is there's serious issues around the world right now including a genocide, and to just say "so we pray" that it will stop feels similar to the infamous 2000's "political" song "Waiting on the World to Change" by John Mayer because why wait, why not act? If there's real problems in the world you're addressing, why not call for action instead of just sitting there? I saw an IDOLS concert a few months ago and they probably screamed "Ceasefire Now!" after every song.

Personally, I think Coldplay does try to code their messages for a broader audience and I think folks don't realize how much they support good causes, so it won't impact my enjoyment of the song, but I'm a bit worried about criticism.

Despite my feelings on the song I decided to pre-order the CD since the remixes won't be available for a few more weeks elsewhere, and I'm hoping one of the three remixes is more enjoyable than the regular version.

If they aren't, that's £9 down the drain. 😀

I haven't listened to it much since Glastonbury as I made the mistake with MX by listening to all the live versions and when the album came out, it fell flat (not that it wasn't good on the album, just that I wasn't surprise by the songs). Anyway, from what I can remember it has a bit of Arabesque vibes too which makes me excited about the studio version. I absolutely adore Arabesque and the band really need to do more of it!

We Pray sounds better than i expected

Still doesn't feel much like a Coldplay sounds more like a Chris martin featuring with all these artists.

This is good. I understand the criticism of genre especially in the context of recent releases, but this is well executed and sounds great. I was not expecting that sound in Little Simz verse. I’m more than happy with this song. Decent lyrics and message, powerful vocals especially from Burna Boy, and a crescendo of an ending. Bravo Chris and co, the outro is lovely too. 👏🏼

WE PRAY was great!

If you can rip the audio off the cd can you send the files to me?

Dare i say the studio version sounds better than the live version ?

I actually agree with this! I like being able to understand the lyrics and I felt little simz part was better in the studio version.

Atmos mix sounds so good. They might have finally figured out how to mix songs in that way

I'll do that when it gets delivered, assuming the files will fit (I always rip to WAV files).

I've listened to the single on Spotify, and I don't think it's as bad as the live version. The semi-rap section in the middle (Little Simz I believe) is what kills it though for the same reason I don't listen to Lost+. If there was a version without that bit it could probably make it onto my 2700 song playlist on Spotify which at the moment has almost every Coldplay song on it. I may try to edit the song when I get the CD to make a better version, but no guarantees.

Thank you! I can see why you dislike the little simz part, I don't hate it but it is by far the weakest part.

This will be another brick in their live show regardless of our takes. So much energy, compared to FLIFIL.

The "WE PRAY (?) Version" is not a special feature. It's just a version with no Little Simz verse (instrumental). 💀
