I was disappointed when I heard the snippet. It felt like a R&B Beyonce song feat. Chris Martin. I don't dislike Beyonce's vocals, I believe she can sing well, but I don't like the style. And what's with all this Princess Of China bashing. Yes, it had Rihanna, and yes it had a horrible music video, and yes the lyrics could have been better, and if you know me you know I'm a fierce Oldplayer, but Princess Of China was a good pop song. It stood out to me on the radio from othe pop songs BEFORE I knew what Coldplay was (as did Paradise), so imho that gives it some credit. Not sure whether HFTW will stand out though.

I thought so initially too, but Coldplay's own official lyrics posted on their Facebook page spelled "Umi".

Listened to some live Adele songs the other day. Tbh I don't like her voice, and her songs are melodically a bit bland to me but one thing is for sure: WHOA, THIS GIRL CAN SING !! :shocked2:

It's Ok, but you know In the Beginning can mean so many things in terms of Coldplay history :) My new clue is: x=15

And just for the record, I did this on generic Samsung smartphone earbuds, nothing fancy ! Listening to more high quality, bass-prominent speakers once in a while helps, though.

Selective listening may also help in that case. Listen to a song and focus only on the bass line. Next time, focus on the background piano or synth. Next time, focus on doubled voices (plenty of occasions where this is the case ! for example the vocoder doubled voice on Speed Of Sound) Do you know how many times I have listened to Clocks ? But only four weeks ago did I begin consciously noticing the Clocks pad that floats in the background of the song. No kidding ! And only two months ago did I notice the looping underlying melody of Only Superstition that is very subtle and which you may not notice if you focus on the vocals. There is so much to be discovered.

There is a fine line between superfandom and obsession, but there is that line. I'm sure we're all doing fine :)

I love your elimination games and I love unreleased songs. But it is true that the imminent AHFOD release directs people's interests towards other things. Pause until Jan 4th maybe ?
