  1. Somewhat similarly, I was a slightly above average fan before (been loving their music since 2000), but after seeing them in August live for the first time, got obsessed! Welcome!
  2. Oh I love this thread! I have been very lucky in so many ways in life and I am doing my best to be mindful and grateful each day. This is why I love the band s o much! They have helped me really turn my thinking around!
  3. I agree. It would be best as an intimate set.
  4. Wow what a dream! My dreams are vague and misty usually but I did just have a clear dream a few nights ago that I somehow ended up at the same party as Chris and we had deep philosophical discussions all night. I know a lot of people fantasize about being his girlfriend or whatever, and I do find him quite atteactive, but my literal fantasy is being able to just talk and talk with him so it was a very satisfying dream. The only thing topping it would be if a piano appeared and he started playing songs
  5. I wonder if it's because of the subject matter? Maybe it didn't seem appropriate to sing it given personal matters? Hit too close to home or he's moved on past it?
  6. Yay yes i also never heard this before too!
  7. It is definitely in the top 3 for me! I didn't like it at first but then one day I sort of rediscovered it and it grew on me.
  8. I think it'd be awesome but I don't know if that would feel like they are out of new music. I'm really getting into their b-sides though, and they very rarely seem to play them live based on what I can find on YouTube. What do you think would be the perfect set list for such a tour? What's your favorite b-side live performances?
  9. Aww I remember exam days. You'll get past all this and go on to great jobs I'm sure. Good luck!
  10. As someone who has been surrounded by depression all my life and has had my own dark holes I know it doesn't seem as easy as "it gets better" because of the thoughts that keep swirling in our heads and the moods that just keep clinging on. What I have realized recently though that it is about learning to love yourself and take care of yourself...And take a hard look at what actions or patterns could be keeping you from achieving a better state. What goals could you set to reach a future that will propel you. And then loving yourself through that process, dusting off and charging forward with purpose when you are knocked down. That's what has worked for me when I go into the downward spiral. Sending love.
  11. Wonderful! Thank you!
  12. Would be kind of perfect if it dropped tomorrow? 20 year anniversary of their first gig?
  13. I'm literally all Coldplay. I like all of their albums. While AROBTTH is my favorite, Ghost Stories is my second. I feel like musically I also have opened my aperture in similar ways that the band has. I listen to everything, indie, grunge, rock, pop, rap, R&B. I think its insightful of this article that the fact Coldplay did continue to evolve meant they survived.
  14. I had a dream I met Chris Martin at a party and we had great philosophical discussions for hours. It was nice.
  15. I was totally thinking don't panic too lol.
  16. I'm very similar. Been a fan since Yellow but my Aug concert also changed me for the better! Welcome!!!

Careful Where You Stand - Coldplay
  18. I'm just hoping it's much needed break time too. They did just give us 2 years of their lives.
  19. And confetti.
  20. Coldplay fan riot, huh? Wonder what that'd be like lol.
  21. While I have loved all of Coldplay's albums, I get why people are nostalgic for the earlier sound, or simply prefer an alt rock to pop sound. I would have felt similarly when i was younger but have expanded my own aperture the older I get. However, I do feel a bit like it's unfair to say that Coldplay has sold their souls for money and fame by experimenting with different genres and singing with guest artists because I think that their own musical tastes and interests transcend what their earlier work was. I saw something like this said recently on Reddit and just felt it was a bit short sighted. I think if anything they've done an amazing job at staying relevant in the era of the digital single. But all that being said, it would be cool if they did some sort of indie b-sides style album next or made their early work a focus of a future tour. Mainly because I saw AHFOD live but never the early stuff because they had never toured near me.
  22. Been watching lots of live performances on YouTube lately. Glastonbury 2005 was so good. I also watched the full Mylo Xyloto live and Ghost Stories live. Great stuff!
  23. What type of music does he usually like? Coldplay has such a range now you could almost get him started with similar music to what he likes. If he likes more indie I'd recommend b-sides. But The Scientist does have very wide appeal usually across genres.
  24. Every one of their albums has been able to grow on me and include favorites so I think it'll be the same for the next for me. I do think more acoustics or orchestral arrangements would be amazing too.
  25. It's probably because I listened to the song this morning, but every time I look at this I hear the lyric "If all that I'm on earth to do Is solo, then what a lone poor shoe I want to walk in a two"
