A Head Full of Dreams Film - In Cinemas Nov.14
I dont think Chris is maliciously lying to people. He is an artist. Not a project manager. I think he was just excited and optimistic.

===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
So I just had this realization this week myself. While I have liked or loved select Radiohead songs and albums, when I tried to start listening to them as a discography I realized I am just at a different point in my life now Coldplay makes me feel euphoric and I love that feeling. I kind of like staying there.

Maybe I'm getting older and maybe I'm biased but I love this. And him.

Coldplay: Life in Technicolor by Debs Wild (book out on 4 October)
I thought it might be something like this (*mild punning*) and I'm not disappointed. The live album / documentary is basically a mythical creature I'll be surprised ever materializes.

Army Of One - Lyrics
Just wanted to say this song only recently grew on me. I think bc we are in a CP drought.

I was listening through my Coldplay playlist today and even though it was on random, it seemed to really be cycling through the AROBTTH, X&Y, and Viva era songs although I have all eras on that list. Which brought me a mixture of joy, nostalgia and feeling slightly old. I can't find another band that I can get so deeply into. U2 is the closest, and from my childhood (so when you guys talk about Viva or MX in your elementary age years or younger I get really old feeling lol). I wish I could find another obsession that is making new albums and touring bc this hiatus period is killing me!

LMAO I could totally see this. But he might also do a good Pinocchio too. I could imagine him singing a soaring "I'm a real boy" song lol!!!

Are solo artists technically just frontpersons of uncredited bands?
Sorry to be cynical but I feel it's a way to not have to share as much in salary or deal with band politics. Much easier to deal with musicians for hire than a full steady band (even tho I bet a lot of solo acts have some repeat players).

Coldplay Covering Other Artists’ Music
Omg what a great, meaningful tribute! U2 was one of the first bands I listened to on a boom box in my room blissfully alone as a kid. So awesome Chris was able to stand in for Bono, his idol!

Don't Let It Break Your Heart!
I've struggled with anxiety and depression all my life. I was at a low point last summer and then went to the Coldplay concert and it made me so euphoric and positive for a while as I got into studying the band and especially Chris's own journeys with this stuff. I got healthier physically and mentally for a while. I feel I'm starting to slip a bit again and am losing that positive spark and motivation I held for nearly a year amazing enough! Some stressful things have occurred but I know I still have much to be grateful of, blessings far outweighing any negative parts. I have more tools now to help but am just sad that internal spark is leaving me. I need to get inspired again!

I think they have always been inspired by other musicians and used that as a jumping off point for their work. Especially when they were first starting. Radiohead or "something like them" was clearly an influence. (I love Radiohead though so that is fine with me lol) I think they also felt inhibited by genre, Chris especially. Looking back, it is inevitable that their sound would change when in interviews they often shied away from being called a rock band.

True. I equate tour with release since they usual tour right at a release but I get what you mean. We can hope!

In a recent interview, Phil Harvey and Dave Holmes said we would probably not see another release until 2021. That seems like a long time but if you think about it, AHFOD and Ghost Stories were back to back albums, and they toured for 2 full years (thankfully because I missed them the first time they came nearby but caught them on the back end). Regarding their sound, I think they will always evolve to be relevant. This is how they have thrived for 20 years. They have repeatedly said they don't want to be stuck in a single genre. Chris even said last album that sorry but we aren't rock actually. He welcomes the blurring of lines and crossovers of genres. He loves all types of music. If you look at other long running artists and bands they survived doing the same thing. I've recently realized this with thinking about U2, Beatles / Paul McCartney, David Bowie. So Coldplay fits that mold. Follow the trend, apply your unique magic to it, and enjoy the music and your fans.

Hello from Melbourne!
Welcome! I'm a long time listener since 2000 also. :) Just stumbled upon this forum last year myself after becoming totally obsessed after attending their concert. I'd been trying to catch a concert since forever but finally was in the right place at the right time. Cheers!

Today as we were leaving one restaurant, Talk started playing on their sound system. As we are still hearing Talk from that restaurant, we walk past another restaurant playing Viva la Vida. It made me smile at the coincidence, even though it probably just means that vintage Coldplay is popular on Musak playlists these days. Then I feel a bit old.

I'm reading Roadie by Matt McGinn (a must read for any Coldplay/ live music fan) and it was written right at the end of Viva era. Then I found this great BBC concert on YouTube that I'm sure has already been posted here. It is worth posting again. What a fantastic set list. I'd give anything to be able to go to an intimate live set like this!!!

Hmm. That's an important detail. Sounds fishy to me.
