Coldplay "Slashed" Film
Oh good grief! :laugh3: It never even occured to me that the title could be taken the wrong way like that. Some day I wish fandom would just rince it's collective brain out with soap for once. Slashed is the horror movie that the guys from Ash made back around the time they were opening for Coldplay. They had Chris and Jonny star in it. To answer the original question, they've said recently that since nothing else has worked out they want to release it on youtube soon. But I haven't heard anything since. I'm sure there's a recent thread about it around here somewhere.

I'm taking issue with the Coldplaying banner at the top...
The ironic thing being half the band are left-handed and play right. :laugh3: That is a BEAUTIFUL banner- my favorite yet. :P So I hope it doesn't change.

Doctor Who ???......
Dark? Steven Moffatt stole my nightmare! Now that's dark. I don't think I've been that freaked out by an idea in ages. Stupid Eurovision... I have withdraw. Pity they locked those videos a few weeks ago. At least they used to let us watch some of the extras. Oh well. Hopefully it's been ripped onto youtube. edit: Sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (I'm having a very squeeish day today :laugh4:) Oh, it's so good to see her back. Looks like she and Donna are on speaking terms. Ooh, I got chills. And you weren't kidding about the -literal- dark, were you? :stunned:

**Indiana Jones + The Kingdom Of The Cystal Skull** (Spoilers...)
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee....... It was so good!! :nice: Here I was so afraid of having to deal with Indy getting old, and now I want to know what was happening for the last 15...20 years with the war and everything. Yeah, the aliens were dumb (though the multidimensional thing was neat- how they were all one alien), but other than that it was brilliant. And Shia was adorable. You're supposed to laugh at him a bit- he was trying to try too hard it's the point. But very well done on his part. So much fun.

Coldplay must play at 432 HZ ALL the time :-)
Haven't double checked the info yet, but it is interesting. I remember (bear with me, it's fuzzy) from music class that the exact pitches of the standard 12-note western music scale we are familiar with have been argued over for centuries. In many schools of thought (around the late medieval/early baroque era I think it was) some notes were closer together than others, rather than evenly spaced out. According to my teacher, if played on a standard scale those older pieces of music sound fine but dull, but when people make the effort to play them the old way with the slightly different notes they can really come to life. It would be like hearing music where half the notes were played off pitch- either sharp or flat- but they all sounded really good together. Never quite been able to get my head around that myself. Would really like to hear it demonstrated some day. Maybe a good example would be Coldplay's 'The Scientist' where the piano it's played on is really out of tune (and I think the guitar had to be slightly detuned to match it), but it sounds good that way. Instruments like lutes actually had movable frets- they were made of gut and were tied around the neck of the instrument rather than embedded in it (again, my memory is fuzzy) so that not only did you have to tune the strings, but you could adjust where the frets went as well. Heh...Figures that when they did standardize they brought Fibonnaci into it.

Locust who the hell are you!?
Well, from some of the things he's said, it sounds like he could lose his job if certain people found out he was feeding us info. So I say lighten up and let's thank our lucky stars we have an inside source.

Radiohead Survivor - Pablo Honey b-sides and unreleased songs Round 3
Hmm...going through the songs, this is tricky. Some of them are so bleh, others might be good if I'm in the right mood, and others make me wonder why they're not on PH because then I might have liked it. Really, really, really liking "Inside My Head"... guess I just 'got' it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3bjjitTUv0 ...Thom's voice sounds so great in that...

Yet another hint at a double album...
Ok, because I want to be positive, yes that would be awesome if it was a double album like that. And even though I totally don't think it's the case, I agree it does sound like they've got something up their sleeve for the future- either b-sides or a future album or stand-alone singles or something. I wish I could remember where it was, but they said somewhere that they recorded lots of extra songs- more than they normally would just because they wanted to be able to work with Eno and Dravs (sp?) on them. Wish I could remember where I saw that... That said, my first thought: Why does no one around here seem to freaking know what a subtitle is and how it works? :freak: As in a second optional title that goes after the main title, often written on a separate line if written at all. That is why it appears in some places and not others. Sorry, explosion over. I've just said this way too many times already.

MSG comp on amazon.co.uk and amazon.com
There's a Canadian version of the contest at MSN Sympatico: http://coldplay.sympatico.ca Not sure, but it looks like they pay airfare. edit: Amazon.ca is having the competition as well- but it's a trip to Toronto and you have to pre-order the album through them. http://www.emimusic.ca/contest/index.asp?contestCode=AHJVYY

NEW STARS ON COLDPLAY.COM
^ Debs said he didn't even have an email account anymore a year or two ago when someone asked her if he posts anywhere. It was just before the site switched to the timeline. Goodness, off topic again, but here's another great one::laugh3: http://web.archive.org/web/20010828170209/www.coldplay.com/journals/jour0000000217.shtml

Doctor Who ???......
Steven Moffatt is Taking Over! Russell steps down from Doctor role Davies, who oversaw the relaunch of the sci-fi show on BBC1, is handing over the reins to Bafta award-winning writer Steven Moffatt, who has written for the show. Moffatt, born in 1961, previously applied for the job but was rejected - at the age of seven. Davies said: "It's been a delight and an honour working with Steven, and I can't wait to see where his extraordinary imagination takes the Doctor. Best of all, I get to be a viewer again, watching on a Saturday night." Moffatt has just written the screenplay for the Tintin film directed by Steven Spielberg. He was previously known for writing such popular and highly-acclaimed shows as Press Gang, and Coupling, and in 2007 adapted the classic Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde story for the BBC as Jekyll. The rest here. Great job, Mr. Davies, but may I have a moment to say... Squeeeeee!

NEW STARS ON COLDPLAY.COM
He wrote most of those journal entries- he always signs them PH. I meant his way of putting words, not his handwriting. It seems to have matured a lot since back then, but there's still something quite distinct about it. That matrix quote is great. Suddenly I understand why he supposedly doesn't even have email anymore... :stunned:

What's up w/ the U.S. politics VH video?
Worrying like that is the fastest way for a band to lose any credibility or originality they ever had. I really don't think they care so much about sales anymore anyway. And it's a political(-ish) video that's funny. That never happens. But there's already a thread for it. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44990 Search is your friend.

Radiohead Survivor - Pablo Honey b-sides and unreleased songs
Pop is Dead should die a terrible horrible death. I still can't believe they wrote that. Really love Banana Co. It should go far.

I'm sorry, what does Stonehenge have to do with the Bible again? Wonderful to know that concepts like prophesy and metaphor are still so widely understood. :dozey:

"42" Comparisons
Don't forget that both "paranoid android" and "42" are from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". :dozey: (As is "Don't Panic") Actually, the three part song I keep hearing mentions of the most is the Beatles "Happiness is a Warm Gun". Pop songs just seem to work better with threes. If you're using a verse-chorus-verse structure, it always seems more complete if there are at least 3 verses. If your going for the multi song-chunk approach instead, having two sections always makes something feel lopsided, while four can seem too complicated. Three is usually perfect. Which is why I will personally swat the first person who uses this as an excuse to whine. :whip: I like songs like that. Looking forward to it. :)
