Yep, it's all about the in-ear monitors. For a song where the band plays along to a prerecorded track, the drummer will hear a count-off in his earpiece, as well as a metronome for the rest of the song so he doesn't get out of sync with the backing track. This is why drummers for bands that play with a lot of backing tracks like M83 or the Flaming Lips usually wear headphones. I guess Chris hears the count off for "Clocks" too. As for the synth sound, I guess it's probably a warm pad or synth string pad with a slow release (so the sound lingers a little after the keys are released) and a slow attack (so it sort of fades in quickly when you hit the keys). My synth has a couple presets that sound pretty close to it, and you can fool around with the attack and release and decay to find something if you're looking for it yourself.

A decade from now we'll all have HDTV's and movies shown in a 1:77:1 aspect ratio will take up the entire screen, and we'll all be happier. :P Anyway, I'd much rather watch movies in a widescreen format, because you actually see what was seen in a movie theater, instead of 2/3 of that. I have no idea how tiny your TV must be that it actually bothers you to have two black bars on the screen. :rolleyes:

This thread is weird because I was just reading this thing about the album "Lifehouse" by the Who that never was finished. This has nothing to do with the band of the same name... but... meh.

It's outselling Coldplay because people don't buy singles anymore, unless they know for a fact that they're not going to buy an entire LP of something. ie., novelty dance pop singles by animated frogs. :lol: It in no way reflects popularity. At least that's what I hope is going on. :uhoh2:

I don't know what I would think of this whole thing if I was being bombarded with it coming from a weird frog every time I turned on the TV, but that insanity test thing is absolutely hysterical.

The only things I can think of are those things that are so dumb and obvious that we wouldn't think to check them like: is there something plugged into the headphone jack on the laptop that's not supposed to be? Or is the volume on iTunes itself turned off? Or maybe your audio drivers just decided to take a vacation. I would ask somebody who knows a little more before screwing around with reinstalling those, though. :uhoh2:
