i think it's way pushing it to say that obama is just bush all over again. sure, they're both politicians, and politics in america work a certain way, but i for one trust in obama for now when he says that he wants to change the way that politics work in america. i don't think obama is the cure to all of our problems, but i think he's a HUGE potential stepping stone to the way there. that's the only thing we can hope for now, and i have all the good feelings in the world about it. to each their own, but i think being that cynical about a new administration is just furthering along the problem. the things that would make the country better according to the things you've posted are too drastic to ever be successful at this point in time, in my opinion, and i think that enacting such things would put the country in a bigger hole than it's already in right now. to me, it's all about the right process leading to the right outcome. sadly, we can't become europe right now, but i for one am believing that because of obama's potential, we'll start on the road to getting there.

alison, i always wonder when you come on at this time why in god's name you're on so late for your timezone...but then i realize you're getting up for work at this time :lol:. i get up around the same time for uni when it's in session, but i think i'll always consider 6:30 AM an ungodly hour for anything but sleeping.

people say "what's the harm in it?" and there isn't any harm, really, except perhaps some people getting a bigger sense of entitlement than they deserve. so there's no harm, but if there's not much help, either, then what's the point? the committee was given a chance in the first two weeks, which is what all the yea-sayers were clamoring for, and as far as i can tell, pretty much nothing got done. if nothing gets done in the time that the committee is trying hard to prove itself, then i doubt anything will get done when the excitement about it has worn off. i should really stop sounding so adamant about things that don't really matter to me one way or the other :lol:

i totally took it for granted that ode had been leaked so recently when i joined...i think i joined like two or three weeks later. come to think of it, i must have been lurking approximately when the leak happened...i guess i just wasn't paying attention :lol:

dayum, i wish i was a cool enough kid to realize that pokemon forums existed! i didn't really ever use the internet when i was that age, so it was completely beyond me, but if i had been, it probably would have consumed my life at a young age. then again, i never really ripped myself from the game long enough to do much of anything :P
