Random Coldplay thoughts...
today my friend called me the second she got out of her art exam to share a coldplay moment. i turned this friend on to "VLV," which she loves to DEATH, and she gushes about as much as we all do on here. anyway, one of the essay questions on her art exam was "imagine a painting and describe it" (which is really a very hard question, when you think about it). so what she did is she imagined a painting based on the lyrics of "VLV"!! it had to do with the french revolution, she said, and she didn't have a lot of time to explain it, but it made me happy that she incorprated coldplay on an exam :nice: (now if only i could have a question to do that on!!) aaaand my mom is currently whistling "VLV" in the kitchen :D

Life in Technicolor: what do you think?
i said "best of the new songs," even though i think VLV is slightly better. but really, i can't explain how much i love BOTH of those songs. it just makes me so happy, so proud to be a coldplay fan when they make music like this. i love epic cinematicness, and that's what this song is for me. i'd like it if anyone did it, but i smile a little every time that i remember it's coldplay. i know that this is a rough cut, but i kind of hope it's not too too different than this on the album, and i can't believe i'm saying this, but i hope it stays instrumental. i used to not really want an instrumental track from coldplay because i thought it would be a waste of chris's beautiful voice, but when their instrumentals are this good, i have no qualms.

[Organising US/CANADA] Coldplaying Member Meetups @ "VIVA LA VIDA"
OH MAN. I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT EBAY. i bet there are LOTS of people that have entered the MSG contest but probably won't be able to go unless they win the grand prize. i'd DEFINITELY pay to see them, even though pretty much everyone else would be there for free. i just hope that there aren't too many people out there that entered the contest JUST to sell the tickets and make a huge profit off them. i figure there are lots out there...blergh. if i got tickets and for some reason i couldn't go, i wouldn't sell them. i'd give them away through coldplaying exclusively, to someone that i KNOW would really appreciate the tickets and really go. but if i do actually get tickets...there's no WAY i'm missing that concert, i don't care if i broke both my legs the day before. as it turns out, we're coming home from vacation that afternoon. lucky for me if i get tickets, we have to drive right through NYC to get home! my dad will just kick me and my mom out of the car, and voila!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
i feel the same way, i guess. i feel bad that i've listened to VLV about 70 times (in four days), VH 60 times (in 11 days), and LIT 10 times (in one day), because i feel like the overplaying to the point of bordem with them is imminent. but i just can't resist! they're too good! and basically the only things tiding me over until mid june. i just don't have that sort of self control with coldplay. and as much as i crave new material (even more now that we've heard such AMAZING things from them), i do kind of know what everyone means when they say they hope nothing else leaks. when chris described the album like a film in the NME article, something that has to be listened to start to finish, i totally got it and realized that all this leaking etc might not be a good thing. part of me just says keep giving us stuff and letting tracks leak just so we can hear it, for heaven's sake, and then i'll piece all the tracks together in the right order once we have them all, but if i'm just going to overplay them, then it won't be the same at ALL. as grateful as i am for the tracks that we've gotten, both released and leaked, i kind of wish that coldplay would have given us two songs that were not going to be on the album. in that way, they'd kill three birds with one stone and give us what we've been so dying for (new music), not spoil the surprise of the album as one piece of art rather than a collection of songs, and give us the tracks that i'm worried we'll never hear otherwise. i mean, i figure that if those tracks were serious contenders for the album, as they seem to have been, i figure they're worthy of being released by the band's standards. of course, they have very good reasons for releasing what they did, but i just so want those tracks that didn't make it on the album too! perhaps that's why i have a soft spot for the conspiracy theory regarding a double-album...

What's Your Favourite Thread Today?
the random coldplay thoughts thread is my permanent favorite and has been pretty much since i joined...but today...hmm. i haven't posted a lot today, actually, so maybe it's not a good day to say. i guess perhaps "randoms" as usual, but maybe the EXTRAS one, and the one about the coldplayers meeting up at concerts, even though i'll probably be mising out on that :(

Coldplay.Com EXTRAS
i'm kind of bursting waiting for the videos to be unlocked. there are what, three, four of them? i guess one is "life in technicolor"...but the other three, i'm dying for. even though their being unlocked means more people have signed up for free tickets. and that makes me very, very nervous because then my odds (all of our odds ;)) for scoring tickets goes down. i got my brother and mom to apply as well as me, and i have at least two friends who signed up and would definitely invite me with them, but still, i'm just not hopeful. i think i want to go to the concert more than i want the videos to be unlocked...hmm.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
semy, i thought your dad liked coldplay and radiohead!! maybe not enough to blast them...but still! that's definitely cool. oh, and she brought the song up twice during dinner too :P

Random Coldplay thoughts...
my mom tends to blast music in the car so loud that i can hear it when she pulls into the garage and i'm on the same side of the house. well, today i was in a room on that side of the house when she came home from work...and what was she blasting? "viva la vida"!! :D

To Pre-order or not pre-order
i walked into FYE on the day it came out, and there were two copies of X&Y left on the shelf. i bought them both. however, my area is FILLED with CD stores, so i doubt that everywhere was sold out. my mall itself had two FYE's and a strawberries at the time, so i figure that there were more copies in the building. and i didn't get the impression that i just bought the last two copies in the store, either...i think they probably restocked the shelves soon after i left. i say get out as early as you can, like around 10 AM, and don't give up if one place is out. worse comes to worse, you come home and download it.

Gwyneth...
i LOVE this dress. i MUST find one like it!! god, she's so beautiful and has the best family in the world...i'd kill to trade places with her, and i don't say that much.

To Pre-order or not pre-order
i say run out to the store and get it on june 17. it's more fun that way, and personally, i like having the physical CD. but if you can't get out that day, i say preorder on itunes, because as far as i know, you can download your preordered album at the stroke of midnight, which is SO much better than waiting until the stores open and you have a moment to go get it. i wouldnt preorder on amazon or any other way that it'll be mailed to you, because it won't get to you as quickly as it would if you just downloaded it or even went out to get it yourself. i'd be tearing out my hair waiting for the UPS man, quite literally. i know it feels weird paying for something you can't have yet, but if you really want it as fast as possible, i say PREORDER! (and might i ask out of curiosity why your coldplay love is faltering?)

Random Coldplay thoughts...
VLV is my favorite song ever (for now), with "life in technicolor" as a close second. annie, when i hear "VLV," all i can think about is being in the netherlands and england this summer too! i don't really think of christmas because i won't be there then, but it just paints this picture of europe for me, especially europe in the 1700s. two random thoughts: 1. yesterday, as i was driving home from college (seven hours  and missing all the happenings in the coldplay world), my brother texted me and said "dude, they're playing coldplay in the mall right now." i kind of got really excited and thought that he meant "violet hill" or even "VLV," so i called him asking which one it was. and he was like "ummm, it was just 'speed of sound.'" while it's still cute that he texted to tell me...he got me all excited for nothing! i thought violet hill had finally made it to america. 2. last night at 3AM, when i had finally calmed down enough over all the coldplay excitement, i burned a CD which has the 5 new coldplay songs on it and crept out of my room to leave it in front of my mom's bedroom door so she could listen on her way to work today. she called me during her lunchbreak to tell me, and i quote: "that first song blew. me. the fuck. away. and that just doesn't happen to me on first listens!" (the first song was "viva la vida;" she thought it was called "when i ruled the world"). i had to do a little dance when she said that. she really likes coldplay, but ever since i started loving them three years ago, it seems she gets a bit bored by them just because i play them so much. but today she was gushing about the song just as much as we do on here, and i've NEVER heard her do that about a song that wasn't by pearl jam. i really think this album will win converts from all over the planet. i know X&Y did that, but i think VLV(OD...?) will finally make them respectable in every venue and more widely liked. i hope it silences all those "you know how i know you're gay? you listen to coldplay" comments etc etc. after listening to "lost!/?" and "life in technicolor" last night and falling absolutely in love with them, i've decided that i ever see any of the guys on the street or somewhere like that, i'm not going to be able to keep my cool and just say "thank you for all that you've done," i'm going to have to be restrained from hugging the living crap out of them. wow, so that was a long bunch of random thoughts :laugh4:

LIT Not by coldplay?!
"same eno head." oooh boy, that made me laugh. ANYWAY, yeah, i saw that on wiki a while ago and it got me a bit concerned, but i think we'll just have to wait until the album liner notes to know for sure. i sure as HELL hope they wrote it, because it kind of bothers me when artists let other artists write whole songs on their albums. but i do think this is coldplay. if you listen to the song carefully, especially in that "bridge" part, it's very, very coldplay, at least to me. the whole think has coldplay written all over it, as well as being perfectly fresh and new and different as well (that's what i think, anyway). i'm not all that concerned that the boys didn't write it, but it is something that's nagging at me a bit.

[Organising US/CANADA] Coldplaying Member Meetups @ "VIVA LA VIDA"
i really, really love this idea. lots of us have talked about it vaguely, as justin said, but now that there are actual dates it seems so much more real! i can't believe that they're not doing another NY show besides the free one! and i'll be out of the country for the CT one (:bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:), but i'm GOING to find a way to go to the NJ one. it's pretty much my only shot, so i'm DOING it, i don't care how much it costs. once we start getting tickets etc etc, i think each concert needs to have a thread in the CP live section for us to figure out who is going and for creating plans etc etc. if it happens before i leave the country (i think it will...) i can help organize it if the mods etc aren't already on it, but i can't guarantee i'll be up for it all summer.

Coldplay Sets Dates for Extensive "Viva La Vida" Tour
i can't say i'm happy with the dates just because they don't fit my schedule. i guess i picked the wrong summer to live in europe! ah well, i'm really REALLY hoping for free MSG tix, and i'm definitely going to the today show, so that'll get my fix satisfied for a little while. and i've already hatched a plan in my brain to go ALL the way to east rutherford, NJ (from central PA) to see them on october 26. i'm DOING it!! i missed a day of school once before for them, i'll sure as hell miss a day of college for them.

COLDPLAY.COM UPDATED - CONTESTS REVEALED
hmmm...fishy about itunes!! it's seriously making me wonder about the conspiracy theory, which i half believe in. i cannot describe how badly i want those free tickets. before i was like "i want them, but i'm going to the today show anyway, so it won't be a huge deal if i don't get them." now after hearing "life in technicolor" and "viva la vida" in particular...i don't know how i'll be able to survive without seeing them. they BETTER do a re-tour of the US after they hit europe and everywhere else!

Coldplay.Com EXTRAS
i can't even describe my love for this video and this song. the guys have blown me away, have shattered my doubts about the album. if my brain could have thought of music that would be exactly what i was dreaming LP4 to sound like, THIS would have been it, no question. (this and VLV. VH and ASARY are great, don't get me wrong, but it's VLV and LIT that blow me away). oh my goodness, they look so happeeee and adorable...oh my god, if i ever see them on the street, i'm going to have to be physically retrained from hugging them, now more than ever. i've never loved music like i've loved coldplay's, and i love a HELL of a lot of music. i can't believe i missed today! :bigcry:

who heard 'lost?' ??
god, i LOVE chris's voice in lost!! god, he's improved, and i didn't think that was remotely necessary :P ok, i don't know if this has already been mentioned because i haven't had the time to go through this whole thread yet, but: does anyone else think that the piano in "lost," especially in the bit when he sings ohh and i'm... just waiting till the shine wears off sounds SHOCKINGLY like a bit of a more upbeat version of "harmless"? i think that there's a connection here, albeit a small one.
-
who heard 'lost?' ??
i absolutely LOVE it! i must say, not as much as VLV and life in technicolor, but still, a HELL of a lot!! i can't belive i missed all of today. DAMN.

COLDPLAY.COM UPDATED - CONTESTS REVEALED
I PICK THE WORST FUCKING DAYS TO BE UNAVAILABLE. the coldplay world EXPLODED today, and i was stuck in a car for 7 hours. AND i'm going to be OUT OF THE COUNTRY for the entire tour. i think i'm going to cry if i don't get free tickets. which i won't. so bring on the tears.

Live Nation hint at "different" Coldplay tour
haha, yeah, we've definitely had a stadium tour :D i'm INSANELY curious about the stage show. i just PRAY that they're not going to do NY and CT until mid august, or that i can get free tickets to MSG in june. because i'm going to be crushed if i can't see them on this tour. like real tears crushed. because it sounds legendary. other than awesomely painted instruments and the new french-revolutionish costumes, i don't know what to think!
