  1. Oh dear, I'd get mortified at the prospect of a recording. But it seems to make sense, though. Glad you're enjoying :D Is it about to finish or is it a holiday break?
  2. So does mine =D But I switch it with Portuguese (which is my mother tongue) a lot. I thought Cantonese was written with the same script used with Mandarin Chinese. I am terribly sorry! @bubbleymonki How are your ASL classes going, btw?
  3. 那么,我很高兴认识你! Hope that it isn't too wrong. In any case, I meant that I'm glad to get to know seeing that I don't think we've spoken before :D
  4. How hard a language is is a relative notion - for one thing, it depends on the mother tongue of the individual. I'd suppose that a person who knows Mandarin Chinese would find it less hard to learn Cantonese than would, for example, a person who speaks a romance language. Do you speak Cantonese? :)
  5. Financially, there probably weren't any big losses for people who were planning to attend a concert (that I know of). But it's more a matter of being disappointed, which comes even if you know that Coldplay are not kidding us around or that they don't own us anything. That's just weird to announce a tour at a short notice and postpone it right afterwards, that's all. There must be something amiss and we'd like to know, if possible, what's going on. I personally don't feel as if someone is ripping me off of my rights. I just want to know what's going on and trust that it's not anything bad. That's just my opinion as well :)
  6. No, they are not. But, in this case, they announced it and withdrew only a couple of days later. Coldplay and their crew are professionals, I think there must be some good reason to postpone the concerts in this way, which I don't think it's something they've done before; at the very least, it's not something they make a habit of.
  7. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x_SZ4foEBA]15 Tintin au pays de l or noir 0 - YouTube[/ame] :awesome:
  8. :laugh3: The Oracle FTW! That'd be beyond awesome!
  9. I saw a guy on the library wearing a Viva t-shirt, but quickly looked away because shy :worried: Other than that, I've just talked to colleagues who like Coldplay, but are not really fans. I think the band already has that status of 'quality band that I don't love, but respect and somewhat enjoy'.
  10. I know it is indeed awful to get tour dates only after their own crew were referring to Australia as the last leg of the current tour. Besides the feeling of being somewhat left out, the tour was cancelled barely days afterwards. Yes, it is undeniably awful. However, on what grounds can one say that they lacked respect? They literally said "We're very sorry" and said that cancelling the shows was due to something unforeseeable. Coldplay do not cancel their shows out of the blue like this, do they? How often does Chris say that they have the best job in the world and thoroughly expresses gratitude to their fans? It's safe to say that the same feeling is held by the whole band. Therefore, imo, there's no reason to call it a matter of respect. I think the bitterness and sadness (which I experience myself, being Brazilian) are not to be confused with lack of respect from Coldplay. They didn't cancel the Latin American Tour because it's Latin America: they probably did it because of some extrinsic reason which they may come forward and reveal when they find it appropriate. It was most likey a very bad combination of not being the best concert market in the world (which would guarantee us dates as soon as the tour was being set up) and a strike of bad luck (unforseeable events that utimately led them to cancel our tour). Hence, bombarding their social networks might be a desproportional measure and it's then that disrespect may come up - from us and not from them and I'm sure no one wants it to backfire like this. Let's take a leap of faith (even if it's not the first one concerning this issue) and hope that they reschedule soon (a reschedule is in the plans, as also literally said in the quoted announcement) It only does if one construes things like this (if they think that the band is negligent, which we don't have evidence of whatsoever). (Not that their image, as opposed to underlying principles, would matter anyway.)
  11. Everyone is so nice here! I'm sure to consider it carefully and make a special effort to stop being silly. I'll take advantage of my holidays and discover some new music :)
  12. I was saving money to get some new books, but I'll probably get Live 2012 instead  (I'll probably be able to buy it only after Christmas, but it makes no matter).
  13. I have the impression (surely, I can be wrong) that the acoustic version was something that came up after the album version was already done. It seems to me that they had the album version first, separated it into pieces and created something new from it. It's like when someone makes a remix of an already existing song, except that the result was called 'acoustic'. This'd be the 'cronological' reason, so to speak. (Again, it's just a bet, just a comment.) Other than that, I think, as already mentioned, that what we see in the album is really what the band was aiming for, something more electric and dance-y. I'm thinking of DLIBYH. It was mentioned that they had one version with a lot fewer elements, but, in the last minute, they added layers and layers of sound (resulting in Brian Eno saying that it was too full). Maybe the same general and abstract idea was behind PoC as well. (So, it wouldn't matter if that the acoustic version actually was born after the album version - the album version was always what they intended it to be.) On a side note, I also prefer the acoustic version because, in comparison to the 'original' version, it's more to my liking. However, I still find it it artificial.
  14. Congrats, Dianne! Hope everything goes ok with your trip!
  15. That's an incredibly nice gesture! Hope you raise a lot of money!

Just finished the Buckin photos :wacky: Thank you, it must've taken ages to gather all the photos (for the Buckin fest alone)!

Welcome, Eliana! I've been a fan since X&Y era as well :D
  18. Hey, Keka, signatures always appear as long as you're logged on. I think sigs showing when you're not logged is something that happens when we have these nice, special themes/backgrounds :)
  19. I can send you something, but it may take a little while to a find a nice-looking postcard (all I've seen from my city are photos of buildings, buildings, buildings). Surely, you don't have to send anything back, it'll be a pleasure to help! I'm going to send you an e-mail right away :)
  20. ^Yup, everybody here is pretty
  21. I'm pretty sure it is. I'll eventually let go of all this silliness and join too :)
  22. No problem at all :) :laugh3:
  23. They did, but, during the Twisted Logic Tour and and the Viva La Vida tour, they came after they announced the end of the tour. It's great they came at all, but it kinda sucks, you know. And now it's even worse because they said they were bringing the Mylo Xylotour here, but postponed it merely a couple days afterwards :/
  24. They can go to Mars if they want, as long as they fuc**** include Latin America in the next tour  :P
