Yeah I agree that the FFTF2024 is a completely separate thing from MOTS. As mentioned, I think it's Coldplay's goal to have an environment friendly tour by 2024. Very interesting! I still think we are getting a project of new/reworked material sometime this year.

Bringing this back.... is there any way I could get the sound without having a Korg? I use VSTs but am not super experienced with them. I have no problem buying something if I have to as well.

I think it could be a possibility aside from the January 13th release. That's a Wednesday and music comes out on Fridays. Also, I only think they would do a greatest hits album if they also added bonus unreleased tracks. They said they would never want people to pay for their music twice, but I could see them doing it if they also threw in a couple of new songs. Maybe some songs that are finished that they like and want to put out, but have no place on any album. Who knows, either way I think we will see them return sometime in the spring/summer!

I agree with what he says but he brought out some frustration in me. People complained about Coldplay sounding the same, so they changed it up and then people complained that they didn't retain that original sound. Well what did you expect when you criticised them in the first place?! It's frustrating because I do love classic Coldplay but I love their newer stuff as well. X&Y was their best selling album (and one of my favorites) so you would have thought they would have listened to the numbers and not the critics. Speaking of music critics, they are as pointless as a glass hammer. That NY Times headline is just ridiculous and you can tell it really had an effect on the band. In a way I am glad it happened because it gave us Viva La Vida (their best album imo) but I also hate it because it did start a course of change. I just hate that people called them boring/uninteresting and then when they changed it up, people called them sellouts. You complained about their original sound and you are now surprised they changed it? At this point, Coldplay are past their prime/peak but I don't see that as a problem. They have hit all the milestones, won a bunch of awards, and have millions of fans around the world. I think now they just want to make the music they want and are not so concerned with pleasing everyone, which is great. I will always enjoy everything they do and don't get me wrong, I do miss some of that old Coldplay sound, but my music taste has evolved and grown because of them. I think Coldplay are one of the bands that do Pop the best. It's a shame a lot of people just write them off as boring/pop sellouts but at this point in their career, it really doesn't matter.

I don't know what to expect to be honest but I truly think we are getting an album or a side project of re-worked and previously unreleased material. With Chris mentioning UATW and UFO along with the recent trademarks, I don't think it's too unreasonable. As stated in this thread, just because they can't tour currently, doesn't mean they won't release an album. However I don't think they will release a mainstream album and then tour it 1-3 years later. Just doesn't make sense to me. I think they are going to give us new/remastered music to tide us over until LP10 (also a nice number to start fresh with) comes in 2021/2022. They have also said that the first 7 albums are almost like a book with AHFOD being the last chapter. EL was a surprise and LP9 will be as well. I don't think they are following conventional Coldplay standards/patterns anymore, so releasing a album/project with remastered/reworked and unreleased material makes total sense. They said they would be full of surprises from now on and that definitely would be a surprise. I would never expect them to do something like that.

Me too! I really hope they do something like that one day. They have so much unreleased material that is just begging to be released. The Butterfly Package artwork would work better for something like that imo.

Here are my thoughts: I don't see them releasing a huge project that they can't tour for a few years. At this rate it looks like a vaccine could be available within the next year or so but who honestly knows. That means every tour is getting pushed back til at least 2022, if not later. I don't think Coldplay will tour until after that. I think we will see them release a project (projects?) that is really for the fans (unreleased music/re-worked material). Chris did say that they view themselves as a service for people who enjoy their music. They want to provide for that. Now is a perfect time to release albums/EPs that won't necessarily be mainstream, although they will undoubtedly have some singles. Idk that's just where my mind is. I don't think they will perform anything new tonight, but I won't completely rule it out. It's a pre recorded performance so it would give them a great opportunity to show off a new song the way they want to. It gets the attention back on them after being away for a few months. I think we will see them release something this year, but whether it's a huge mainstream album or just a side project for the fans remains to be seen. I personally want a project for the fans. Imagine them bringing back things like Ladder to the Sun, Moses, etc. I know they don't like to look back but hey, now is a good time to. Also they said they would never do a greatest hits album, but they might not feel bad about doing it if they include some unreleased bonus tracks. I would certainly be all for it. The label probably wants something and this would be a good middle ground. Maybe I am just daydreaming though.

Watch, they just drop The Race as a single and post that. After all it was intended to be the lead single twice now. Won't happen, but damn would that be so cool!

Yeah that's what Chris does for a lot of songs. I recommend just practicing the thumb positioning and you will eventually get it. I had similar issues when learning guitar but you do get used to it.

Yeah why list them if you won't sell or trade? What's the purpose here? You know this community would band together to get them lol.
