LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^ What you describe here is something the band is definitely capable of and its what we would prefer but again it goes back to a point which I've mentioned many times on here. The band has to want it to happen. Trying to be different from your previous records just isn't enough. You have to be willing to experiment and risk and improve your musicianship to create more complex mature sounds. Difference doesn't equate to greatness. Just because you transition from alt rock to sugary pop doesn't mean you've improved. In fact it doesn't mean anything! They're just hopping genres. They seriously need to challenge themselves musically and artistically. Otherwise they'll forever be remembered as a bland mediocre band who never proved anything in terms of contribution to the whole rock music scene.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
The whole X&Y thing is absurd indeed but remember the views on this forum don't represent what everyone in the outside world thinks. That album is loved dearly buy many many people myself included and rightly so. As for not following a very specific theme and subject you're absolutely right. As you mentioned correctly both GS and MX failed to convey whatever message it was they were trying to convey; for me anyway. Just no need for it with Coldplay. There are other bands out there who're technically more gifted and artistically more capable and they create masterful concept records. What Coldplay needs to do is get into the studio and say LETS JUST MAKE A GREAT ROCK ALBUM. And thats it.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
There is a very strong sense of urgency and vulnerability present in most of their work, especially up to MX. Of course its not entirety to do with the songs' pace or even the theme of the record but more to do with the writing, melody and composition. And at times when they get it right, they're also grandiosely powerful and emotionally provocative. Some of these elements, which fundamentally defined Coldplay have been missing since MX which might be positive or negative; depends on how you look at things. I've accepted their "exploration adventures" into other genres but I believe there should definitely be a line for the band. Paradise and ASFOS for example should have never been made. I hope once their experimentation with the sugary melancholy pop has ended they start looking into the other side and see what happens if they try darker grittier rock sounds. Although that might seriously alienate a huge portion of their audience who're too accustomed to the current Coldplay.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I know for certain the band and Phill are fully aware of exactly what we want. But I get the impression they're not ready or capable to go there yet. Right now we can't expect anything experimental or a return to their rock sound and I'm patiently waiting for them to just get this whole sugary sentimental crap out of their system and with AHFOD hopefully that will happen. Truth be told I'm already more excited for LP8 than what they're working on now. A drastic change in everything is to be expected. :laugh3:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I dream everyday of them going all the way back one day. I would forever be a happy man if they ever released something like this: [video=youtube;nIKyNyI6V68] I admit though it's unlikely to ever happen.

^ My feelings exactly. Only thing I know for certain is they probably won't turn into maroonfucking 5. Just the thought of that gives me panic attacks!

'The Goldrush' released on 'Life in Technicolor ii' 7"Vinyl [LISTEN IN FIRST POST]
I'd forgotten how epic and beautiful this song is. I've had it on repeat the whole day and their creativity and enthusiasm just pours out. Or maybe its just nostalgia...

Linkin Park
I still need more time to deliver a final verdict on the album but the overall sound of it is superb. And the fact they decided to just say fuck it and go back to their roots and make a pure rock LP record really really pleased a lot of fans. This is what they should be making and its miles better than living things. By the way could we please have a poll so people can vote which of their records they think is best?!

[X10Y] Third album rumoured to be called 'Zero Theory'
I have a feeling one of the songs is going to be dramatically melancholy and will be played a lot on TV for a long fucking time.

Very very true.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Do you guys think the album will have better lyrics?! My opinion is whenever they drop the love song schtick we usually witness stronger and more cohesive lyrics. I've also realized there is a weird correlation between their edgier and more rock sounding songs and better lyrics. Ghost Story, Square One, Politik, GPASUYF, 42, Major Minus, HLH etc are just some examples.

Coldplay penned "Lukas", "Fun" and "Want" on Natalie Imbruglia album [UPDATE 8th Aug 2010: Album fl
Looking back after all these years I think this was one of their more unfortunate miscalculations. Lukas was a signature Coldplay song to such extent that when I played the instrumental to a few people within seconds they said it must be a Coldplay song. The lyrics were also exceptional and quite fresh. To have it wasted on a Natalie Imbruglia album was a shame. I'm just so relieved we got Prospekt's March. I can't imagine not ever hearing Rainy Day or Glass of Water or any other song on it for that matter. They're all absolutely epic.

Which is the best Coldplay album? [Post-Ghost Stories Edition]
A Rush Of Blood To The Head remains their best achievement in creating music. It's also one of the greatest albums of all time and unquestionably timeless.

Chris Martin to perform with Beck at 2015 Grammys
The performance was great! Happy to see Chris enjoy himself. They didn't win anything though because their material wasn't good enough. I would have preferred if they weren't even nominated. Seeing Coldplay categorized officially as Pop and then not winning anything is pretty depressing.

I'm certain Noel will deliver another masterpiece. He always does. I also recommend watching the band live as they're exceptional.
